A while ago I got a contract on webnovel for a different book and after crossing 25 chapters, I started the premium on my chapters and as a result now I have to write one chapter every day or my book gets dog walked by the algorithm

So, I get some subscription thingy nowadays but Idk what to do with them, its been 7 days since I got the contract and I have accumulated 879 subscriptions.

I also saw some guys beg... I mean asking for power stones in their synopsis but idk what that does. All I know about what power stones do is just get ur book into rankings and thats all but people say something like this in their synopsis:

"100 powerstones = 1 extra chapter
200 powerstones = 2 extra chapters
And so on...."

Can any experienced webnovel exclusively contracted author enlighten this fellow writer, so that he can also gain something🫠

I have also got 5 golden tickets, I don't know where they accumulate or what they are used for

Is it even possible to make money through writing in webnovel or we can just use these subs to read other novels and thats all?!
Oh and I also got one massage chair and 3 inspiration capsule and I don't know what they are either

They are extremely predatory from what I remember. Never sign anything without fully knowing what you are signing.

Others know more about it than I do. For one, you lose a significant amount of your copyright.

Another thing is, fail to make your quota, and I believe others mentioned they can take over the story.

Low pay, and are exploitative.

Oh that's not a big deal coz I'm inserting my patreon in every new chapters and I already got 7 patrons
Tho they remove it pretty fast, I put the patreon in review, comments, paragraph comments and every possible place

I just needed the boost from the contract and I got it and whatever they do, they can't nuke a personal patreon at all
I went from getting 7-8 hundred views to 12k+ views per chapter

They can suck the rights as much as they can

I’m not sure about that, the whole legal process could become messy by signing it away. They might not be able to nuke it, but there might be other ways they can do something.

My only experience with webnovel I have is sending them DMCA requests for plagiarised/stolen novels. And they take their sweet time with it all the time or try to ignore it while milking the money out of them in the meanwhile.
My advice would be to nuke everything, get out of there ASAP, and never look back.

Nvr mind I just asked my editor and he said that they actually allow u to promote patreon but only in synopsis and uploading in patreon is not illegal too. So I'm not totally ripped off of my rights🫠

Just 99% ripped off. Congratulations. Have fun writing a minimum of 2000 words a day for the rest of your life. And if you ever get sick, lose internet connection, or need to take a break, your story will be taken from you and given to someone else to finish.

To put this politely for you OP. You made a goof. And a pretty bad one. One thing both authors on this site and royal road can agree on is that webnovel contracts are bad. Losing the rights to a story you make is never good. Personally I would try to weasel out of that shit if you can.

Or just let them have the story and move on.

Oh and some life advice never sign contracts you don't understand. Get a second opinion if ur unsure or walk away if your unsure...

The one good thing about Webnovel is that they have virtually zero standards, so there's nothing stopping you from having chatgpt churn out 5000 chapters of some generic cultivation litrpg trash and submitting it under a pen name. And from what I've heard about their readers, there's a good chance they'll even pay for it.

Normally I would agree, but if a company is deliberately using predatory business practices to take advantage of people, they don't get to complain when someone finds a loophole and takes advantage of them right back.

It's not that I find legally screwing Webnovel(or any unethical business) for screwing over others to be unethical. It's that I find the use of AI for profit to be unethical. If you can legally screw over Webnovel, go for it and get others to join you.

This is the virtual currency the readers used to unlock the chapters..

They were giving out a certain amount freely, back in the day, when I was reading a novel out there, but I don't know if it is a case.

In any way, you aren't earning enough money with your writing to buy the powerstones in enough quantities to read another novel.

....and that's the tragedy of the Webnovel. Ironic, isn't in?

It's not surprising. Even Moderator John's Roadkill algorithm works the same, with at least a chapter per day, if not more with constantly rising attrition, the only thing they didn't do yet is pay to read.

No one forcing you to write 2000 words a day lol. It's just the minimum guarantee system that encourage authors to write daily to get a bonus. If you can do it for a month, you are eligible to get your income bump up to 200$ if the book make more than 60$. And extra 200$ if your book makes over 200$.
If you can't do that, it's fine. you still keep whatever the book is making, just no bonus that's all.
And MGS system only lasts for 4 month begin from signing the contract.
That's why many authors go back to a much slower update schedule once their MGS ends.

But many still churn out chapters after chapters even without MGS bonus though.

And the whole thing of "your story will be taken from you and given to someone else to finish" is just BS. Can you even find a single case of that actually happened?

879 subs is equal to at least 8790 coins, which is 43.95 $. Not many author can have this good start. Keep the momentum going and keep writing. The more successful the book gets, the more WN will promote you. And it will just keep snowballing.
Join WN contracted author discord server to ask them questions instead of here. You will mainly find WN haters here.

No, powerstone is just for ranking. It's actually useless, unless the story is very successful and can make it to top ranking.
Golden ticket is another ranking system. 5 golden tickets probably means they are getting gifts.
