Oh that's not a big deal coz I'm inserting my patreon in every new chapters and I already got 7 patrons 😉
Tho they remove it pretty fast, I put the patreon in review, comments, paragraph comments and every possible place😁

I just needed the boost from the contract and I got it and whatever they do, they can't nuke a personal patreon at all🙃
I went from getting 7-8 hundred views to 12k+ views per chapter🥳

They can suck the rights as much as they can🤡

A while ago I got a contract on webnovel for a different book and after crossing 25 chapters, I started the premium on my chapters and as a result now I have to write one chapter every day or my book gets dog walked by the algorithm😭

So, I get some subscription thingy nowadays but Idk what to do with them, its been 7 days since I got the contract and I have accumulated 879 subscriptions.

I also saw some guys beg... I mean asking for power stones in their synopsis but idk what that does. All I know about what power stones do is just get ur book into rankings and thats all but people say something like this in their synopsis:

"100 powerstones = 1 extra chapter
200 powerstones = 2 extra chapters
And so on...."

Can any experienced webnovel exclusively contracted author enlighten this fellow writer, so that he can also gain something🫠

I have also got 5 golden tickets, I don't know where they accumulate or what they are used for😶

Is it even possible to make money through writing in webnovel or we can just use these subs to read other novels and thats all?!
Oh and I also got one massage chair and 3 inspiration capsule and I don't know what they are either🤡
As someone who took a contract over there and made money while also getting a good amount of features and over 5k subscriptions I would say it’s really not worth it for the most part.

your book will be banned
Can you show me in their rules where they explicitly state that ai generated novels aren't allowed? Maybe they've updated the rules, but the last time I checked they never even mentioned the subject, and banning you for something that wasn't against the rules (especially if you were making money off of it) sounds like an easy lawsuit.

They are extremely predatory from what I remember. Never sign anything without fully knowing what you are signing.

Others know more about it than I do. For one, you lose a significant amount of your copyright.

Another thing is, fail to make your quota, and I believe others mentioned they can take over the story.

Low pay, and are exploitative.
Webnovel contracts are brutal forced labor scams.

There is so much misinformation here its insane.
Hi, I'm an experienced Webnovel writer, but I also post novels in Scribblehub and Royal Road and have a fairly successful Patreon.
Alright, let's begin.
No your story won't be taken over by webnovel, if you drop a novel there's nothing they can do about it, it will be left abandoned and that's it.
They aren't forcing you to do anything, they're simply telling you to write every day if you want to get a minmum bonus money (even if your novel dont make a penny), you can perfectly write 1 chapter a week and still make monthly income (if someone reads it)
You're technically not forced to write anything forcefully, but daily chapters bring more attention (like in every site actaully, Scribblehub and Royal Road, the most popular novels upload chapters every day).
Webnovel is not the literal devil or something, and you aren't getting scammed either, you're getting what you signed for. If you got 800+ subscriptions in the first 7 days, that's the amount of times someone has purchased one of your novel's chapters.
If you get 800+ every week for a whole month, that would translate to around over $300 or more, maybe.
If you're bothered with writing every day, just dont do it, but your novel will lose traction. Apparently that's just something you knew you were getting into, so why complain now?
Best of lucks! And no, Webnovel isn't coming to your house to kill you for not posting a chapter, and they're not going to bring you to some chinese concentration camp or something lol. Most of what people is talking about here is just misinformation they regurgitate that they saw another person talk about which is also misinformation. Everyone here honestly feels like an ignorant child that gets angry they have to put effort into a job to earn money, you all dont even know what the world is like and live very sheltered lives.
But I also won't defend Webnovel, it is a site that offers great and quick income if you know what you're doing and you have some discipline, but the exclusivity deal is a big thing that a lot of people hate (i dont really care).
If you want to earn money while writing casually? Well, there's no site for that. None, you're never making money by not taking this career seriously, not in Scribblehub or Royalroad. If you want to earn money while writing, get your shit together or find another job.

Thank you for the correction. I had been offered webnovel contracts back in 2019 and 2020 that, after reading and giving others to look over, seemed predatory at the time. Webnovel has changed hands and rebranded itself a few times since so if their new contracts are as you say, then I will be considering using the site again. I am more of a casual writer so I am more concerned with keeping the rights to my story rather than my earnings. Most of my knowledge of writers losing the rights to their stories comes from webnovel authors I had been discussing with at the time(2019-2020) and from others who claimed it happened to them later on.

If you have inkstone account, you can read the news. It's quite recently though. Excessive use of AI is not welcomed. I've seen many people on FB and discord posting their rejections due to the editors rejecting AI works.

If your novel is not contracted, then they can reject the contract and take it down.
If it's contracted work, then they can shadow ban it. You won't be able to prove it, but your novel will die from lack of features and readers.

And let's be real here, nobody is going to read a terrible, excessive chatGPT generated story. If you do that, you will just be killing your own story before WN kill it.

Remind you, it's still an exclusive contract until you die, so you will have to think carefully before posting it there since there will be no way to take it down once contracted. If you can, do some market research on what's popular there first to see if it's even worth posting the story or not.

For example: you are writing genre A that's not popular on WN, and signed a contract. It won't do well and you feel very demotivated. Now, you find out that there's another website that the story can fit in well. But oopsie, already got an exclusive contract so you can't post it anywhere else.

It will also be a problem if you plan to make adaptation or translation by yourself, since only WN can do that now.

So what WN authors are doing is that they write their stories, if it flops, then they drop and move onto writing the next one, until success.

But other than that, no, your story is yours, no one is going to take over and write it.

Can’t really say, since you can’t find webnovel contract publically. I’ve looked everywhere, the last thing still available is from what could happen with their exclusive contract, and the account from other authors.

Either way, it is the person’s risk to take. Webnovel also looked to have just shutdown their forums, and seem to be trying to divert people to a discord.

So, less information on it now. Whether they changed or not, that would be difficult to say. I’d advise you get a wide range of people’s experiences before deciding.

Yeah, that's part of my problem. I want to be able to post it wherever I want or publish it physically without issue. Exclusivity contracts are a no for me.

Wow, I've always seen Webnovel portrayed as the totalitarian novel site, if that makes sense. good to know the truth, though I still don't plan to upload on Webnovel.

No, powerstone is just for ranking. It's actually useless, unless the story is very successful and can make it to top ranking.
Golden ticket is another ranking system. 5 golden tickets probably means they are getting gifts.
I didn't know there is currency for ranking

And here on SH I know two novels that are generated by AI, uploaded by the same author, that have almost 1.5k readers total and maintain ratings above 4.5. Plus they are trending multiple times a week.
The world is unfair :blob_unamused:

I think people tend to forget, that when it comes to stuff. The majority have pretty low standards. It in short boils down to, if it meets the lowest bar, it is good enough for them.

I think you can see why businesses take advantage of this mindset. This is for anything really.

AI or not, it doesn’t matter, it just needs to be good enough for peeps.

All it has to do is check off a few boxes, and it is good to go.

Yeah its fine, I am not their Editor or something and I am not here to recruit people.

Yeah thats the problem, people is writing casually and think they can earn some easy money on webnovel without reading properly the exclusivity deal.
Then their novel doesnt do well (a genre thats not popular there) and they also dont upload chapters daily to keep traction, so they complain and say its a scam when its mostly their fault they thought things would be so easy.
To earn in any site you have to compromise and put effort and discipline into what you do. If you dont plan on earning or thats not your focus, then Webnovel is not for you.
Just Patreon would be fine, Webnovel prioritizes mostly endless serializations with thousands of chapters.

Can anyone explain me about the privilege thing and how much coins should I set for first tier and what mgs is?

Btw, I saw some people actually clearing out things related webnovel which reassured me and I guess if I can make $300 from a novel that I started for fun, wouldn't be that bad i guess😁

The novel I got contract on, was long been abandoned by me but one day when I logged in webnovel, I saw a contract invitation and as a first time experience, I signed it! I've read about the rights sharing, it's not that scary as how people spread it. Exclusive contract basically means the thing that they will have the right of yours books publications and various different adaptations like- audio book, comic, tv shows etc.

I also got to know that webnovel also has non-exclusive contracts that they offer to different site's popular authors to make them join their platform.

Even some popular ScribbleHub guys also got non-exclusive contract invitations by webnovel's authors. Tbh, getting the chance to make a contract with a platform that has by far the biggest reader base(over 500k) is not so bad as to experience the writing world.

Btw I have to post everyday to keep getting the attention but it has to be over 1000 words to be premium and the word count they suggest for each chapter is 1500-2000 word but my readers don't complain about the barely touching 1200 words chapters.

You should go to WN discord and ask questions there. People will answer you about pricing and stuff.
And be careful, if you are on exclusive contract, you cannot post chapters on patreon. It will be a breech that risk getting for novel banned.

I agree, this is not the place to ask for such things, literally just go to the Inkstone Discord or even the Webnovel Forum, why are you asking these things in freaking Scribblehub? Barely anybody know something about Webnovel, they just talk nonsense they regurgitate.

Wn forum's long been closed and dc people are very inactive and the ones that are active, are either non-contracted ones or they just don't have much info too😑

I came here after dc🫠

What up! To answer your question, power stones are indeed valuable as you already know that they put your novel up in the ranking. The thing with 100 PS = 1 extra chap and so on isn't begging tbh but a good marketing strategy. Every author posts - let's say 7 chs a week now if he got 100 to 200 PS then he'll post 8-9 chs that week. Assume the novel you are reading is at a critical point and then the chapter ends.. now readers will give you more stones than they usually would have so that you upload the next chapter quickly. You get more PSs and your book is ranked further up hence attracting more readers who search for new books in the rankings. Win Win situation for both you and the readers. That's all there is to Power Stones 😊👍
