To those who've read the game of thrones book series. How did it pique your interest, and what were the good points of it?

I've read it and three things I can say were really good about it were the incredible diversity and number of characters and events, detailed and realistic worldbuilding, and straightforward, direct storytelling. Those things make it a fantastic story to read for people who want a realistic, plot heavy story that doesn't dance around inconvenient topics.

Those of course can be heavy turn-offs for some people, becuase many people won't like the very slow pace and sometimes even offending topics, but there are few books that do that properly, making GoT really unique.

I think George RR Martin is going to die before he finishes writing his series.

Forever cucking me out of the satisfaction of an ending that didnt involve a dragon setting fire to a chair

To answer your question, what makes his works impressive is everything. he nails it right outta the park
World building. phenominal
Characters. Like real life people mixed with shakespear's wet dreams
Subtlety. Mastered
Tension. Like a taut rope
Violence & sex. gratuitous, as it should always be

Also a healthy amount of Sadism for his readers
