I posted on both for a while. My personal opinion is this.

RR has a larger audience but is harsher on stories. Their website has more jerks who will flat out lie in reviews and comments. A lot of readers on it like to trash stories. The reader fanbase over there tends to be way more toxic than SH. But it seems to have more people who are willing to review your story and give it a rating. On that website, I had four five-star reviews.

SH - Porn, oh so much of it. It also has lesser-quality stories. But the overall audience on SH is a lot nicer to new authors. They're more accepting and less critical to judge you. This excludes other authors. Not once, not twice, but three times I've had authors trash my story, and it's always over something minor. It's jealousy... This website has some really jealous authors. And my story isn't even all that popular. But it's obvious when I look at how they talk, and then I look at their stories. One of them was upset that I didn't write my story in a play format. The audience also talks to you more here, which is awesome cause I can make friends. But people here don't like to review books often. I've seen the top stories here with over 1000 chapters have zero reviews.

Overall, both sites have ups and downs. I stopped posting on RR because my story got banned. It was too much of a dark fantasy, in my opinion. Both websites are good.

Combine your negatives, add a few more, and you get Webnovel.

Dunno if he owns it or if he's an employee. lol

Do what you want. As readers, it isn't us he's harassing; its the authors he screws over for fun. lol
dunno, I was in a comment section and like come on there was a slime nun, who was literally eluding to it. I just said it.

This is my stat for Catgirls and Dungeons.

See how many review bombs I got? Most negative ones are from people read less than 10 chapters, and it began once I reached Rising Star. Now I'm not on Rising Star anymore so the ratings are mostly back to positive from people who actually like and read my stuff.

If you write LGBT stuff or something anime-like, be prepared for many, many review bombs and harsh reviews/ comments. There are people there who will literally read a story just to hate on it, and there are so many new authors got bullied off the platform. Especially if your story get into rising stars section.

My older story, Finding my little sister in another world, got even worse treatment because they thought it's incest. There was even a big author there wrote me a review claiming it to be incest, even though I literally put NO incest in the blurb. I just don't understand why they lie, and why even read my story in the first place if it's not their cup of tea. That was the reason I pull my story out of there and went for Webnovel. I'm now feeling doing the same with Catgirls and Dungeons once I complete the first book.

Most readers are very nice though, but it's the toxic ones that can make it unbearable and very demotivating.

And this was from another author I talked to on RR. I was on Rising Star and got a lot of exposure so I was reaching out to SH authors I know there to see if they needed some shoutout swap. And this was one of the replies I got.

Yeah, Webnovel is worse for sure.
The Royal Road is getting close.

They even have their ownership transfer contract with, I think ... Mango Publishing they call it?

Only thing they do not have is the pay per chapter for readers.
