There once was an angel, the most majestic of them all. A favourite of the God, his brilliance dwarfed all stars, he was the one named Morning Star.

Yet it all came tumbling down. His wings clipped, his brilliance snuffed, banished and thrown down deep into the abyss of hell by his beloved creator, to forever rule over the vileness he so revolted once before.

An angel of light no more, just a devil of chaos. No more the warmth of his creator, just a seething, raging inferno seeking nothing less than doom of everything his creator held dear.

No more the star that lit the darkness,

Now, he is the very depth of all dark and evil...

The king of all profane and sinned, the fallen one, the Devil of all demons...

Satan, the progenitor of corruption...

Cool. I prefer to have the corruption be part of the backstory (and maybe a redemption arc somewhere) myself but nice.

Watching a movie and a remake of it that could have benefited from this. The Hammer remake of "Phantom of the Opera" did a little more believable (but far more brutal) corruption arc than the Claude Raines version (still have not seen the older B&W ones), but in both cases it seems a little too abrupt. From "Nice Guy" to "Homicidal Maniac" overnight.

I did say that in the video that's how I like to use it most. For me, if redemption or not (or more the opportunity), it depends on the character and situation. ...Though, in practice, I am very much aligned with giving people the opportunity to change and do better if they legitimately want it. I'm all about restorative justice practices instead of retributive justice.

I have not seen Phantom of the Opera (what little I know is cultural osmosis), but now I'm curious to look into it more...

I had been wanting to see it for years; was very happy to see two versions running back to back on Universal Classic Monsters channel on Roku last night. Still have not seen the two versions considered the best (a silent version and the first Universal black and white one - part of a quest to see as many of the original Universal Monster Movies as possible without having to buy the things).
