Lol, it doesn’t matter whether he was trying to find the answer or not. The fact is most posters either didn’t understand where he was coming from or what he was complaining about.

they decided to answer what “they see as success” without any thought to the OP’s situation or why he is frustrated.

Perhaps that’s to be expected from an online forum, I just found it funny.
You'd be surprised how often it happened in real life too.

I was just pointing out that you could make money off everything.

still the fact that writers/authors can’t understand what the OP means or is talking about is a big reason why many of them won’t be successful.

Authors need to understand things better than a regular person to write something a normal person would read. Often that comes with experience, critical thinking and the ability to read their audience.

:blob_thor:
Yes i support your point.
I seen a lot of recent thread with author that don't understand how to be popular.
(My history of posts got lot of "repeat" sentences probably)
-----------------------------------
(Not all but lot of) Chinese authors because of high competition became crazy high quality now.

I am not joking what i say next :
The successful chinese authors. They must know:
what is trending, news of today, what was/is/gonna be popular, psychology, memes, famous stuffs, people, taboos to never write, which novels are currently popular, comedy, romance, looks, how to portray heroine and hero, what was used too often, cliffhangers, how to do dialogues, how to describe an action, how to make the person in the mood, how to write correctly a death, how to keep reader hooked, how to do harem, etc

And i am not kidding when i say that some of my fav authors, they work hard to make sure what they wrote is correct. Some even do endchapter-notes that what they wrote are number from database or history.
Some chef novels, they detail every step to cook a dish.
Some tycoons novels, authors don't need to know about every details of transactions but at least they must know the correct numbers in transactions. Like selling companies, rental, how much rich cars cost, how some merchants give bargains, what privileges' rich people got, how tax works, what are decent methods to publicize things, the famous ads in the past irl, price of houses, price of villas, etc

Lot of chinese fanfics fail, simply the dumbass authors don't even know correctly the original work. Or writing stuff that insult the iq of readers.

i dont want to be that one guy who goes hard about "survivor bias" or "hard work does not pay off" but I think im starting to grow pessimistic each day

we always hear the 1% who succeeded and never hear about the 99% who failed

there is this one guy that created this term "literary masturbation" and it basically means you're writing a story that will never benefit you financially

i want to be optimistic, but i cant help but be gripped by the reality that "not all authors will succeed"

not. all. authors. will. succeed.

not. all. entrepreneurs. will. succeed.

failure is failure, and i don't like it when people try to see the "silver lining" of it; perhaps life is so cruel that it literally doesn't care whether you persevere or not

literally everything is luck and we just copium every time we don't meet our standards

"yeah, this will work out and i will keep doing it no matter what"

but will it really work out?

sometimes, i wish i was born passionate in programming, not in writing (and lucky you if you're passionate in both)

writing makes me overly happy and overly depressed

writing fucking sucks.
You might be suffering from burnout. I recommend taking a break from writing until your motivation return, while you still can.

If you are writing for money, it doesn't matter if you're passionate or not. You will lose that passion after writing become your job.

Once you become a contracted professional author, you will have no choice but to write.

Professional writing fucking sucks.

Readers hate plot holes.
I know I do and one of the reasons I haven’t published much is because plot holes keep appearing in complicated stories.

It is funny. The person is crying and whining about how he'll never get anywhere to a bunch of people who make webnovels that will most likely never get recognition or money

I have a bunch of WNs im working on right now, but you dont see me whining and crying that i only have 63 readers. Im damn grateful for those 63 readers!

you dont see me dooming because my patreon is as barren as the sahara.

NO. if i want to get paid doing this, then i need to actually finish a story thats good enough for people to actually want to pay for.

Basically you have to produce quality worth paying for, and market to demographics that will pay.

SH probably ain’t it, go to RR.

i will post a few stories there eventually... when i figure out how to bypass their rules on cover art i mean, when ive written more...
I’m going straight to Amazon when I finish my project. I’ve been rewriting it over and over. Probably putting it on Apple Books too under my actual name.

If I worked that hard on it I’d rather make someone pay for it.

Depends on the deal, they won’t do any marketing for you so I’ll probably have to get in touch with some YouTubers. Since I plan to make it a series it might take years to see if it becomes successful.

it’s just the first book is the hardest because it sets up the rest of the series

Sorry, no identifying information will be presented on this forum 😂

This is a trash writing smut account.
Hey! what do you have against smuthub? Sure, writing here is the authors equivalent of a peppy girl from nebraska moving to LA to become an actress but winds up doing porn instead - but there is good stuff here too.

I also bruise easily.

Lol if I had something against smut I wouldn’t be here. Just I want to keep the smut writing and book writing to separate identities.
