Someone clicks on the stars and gives it either a 1, 2, 3, 4, or a 5.

To expand on that, the overall rating on a novel is the average taken from all ratings given to it.
So, say you got 10 5's, you'd have a 5 star rating.
Say you got 9 5's and 1 4, you'd have about a 4.9 rating, or maybe even a 4.8
Etc...

I should explain why I was confused about my bad. It was because I had a 4.4 rating and then someone gave it a 2-star rating so it dropped down to 4.3 and then I got another 5-star rating, yet it was still a 4.3. So I was just wondering how much 4-5 stars do I need to bump it back up?

Ah, I think it would take a lot more 5 stars to bump it back up, sadly.
