As long as you put general guard rails in the book and keep an internal world running, it's basically just running a D&D campaign, and those have been working for decades.

Whatever I end up writing next, IF I end up writing something after my current story, I do not want more realism. The sheer amount of research I'm doing for this story is driving me mad. Though, it'd arguably be worse if I have to make everything up and keep it consistent...

I don't want to be rude, but for many of the people who ask for advice on how to get readers, I felt like their attention spans required an embedded cliffs notes.

They can be fun to participate in (See D&D and Pathfinder), but generally don't make good reads in retrospect.

The brain is incapable of true omniscience. It'd instantly drive them completely insane, and likely render them brain dead. As Paul said, omniscience by proxy is basically as good as it gets.
