I hope one day I can install games without having to deal with those fricking DRMs

Thats why i mostly use GOG, I also always check for DRM on Steam games. I don't mind steam's since its pretty innocuous but i avoid games with third-party launchers and online-check stuff such as denuvo like a plague.

    ruined and boring power systems

I think the problem with games like Borderlands (or the Diablos, some JRPGs, etc) is that the constant stream of new equipment and higher levels trivializes things and make everything feel like a numbers game. Then to compensate the player's new weapons with higher numbers, the dev needs to...

    ruined and boring power systems

I think the problem really started after people began adapting RPG systems from table-top-based RPG videogames. Some of them do work very well in terms of balacing a game, but it sort of became a slippery slope from there. Imagine you have an isometric RPG that uses guns. The higher your...

    ruined and boring power systems

I think its more a matter of execution, what i described is ultimately just a superpower story. The problem i see with the whole stats thing its that it works strangely when you put it into the framework of a reality. They're abstractions of real concepts to begin with, designed with the...

    ruined and boring power systems

I'm trying to make a system based story for fun on the side and the thing i immediately realized is that its not good to use the RPG stats numbers game as a base (even in actual games i think this doesn't always work well). What i found to work the best is to turn the system basically into...

    Do you write genius characters?

I'd say there are three types. Velma, Sherlock Holmes and Picard. >As you said the first is just the author telling you the character is smart without much additional work, basically being treated as no more than a character trait or an alternative way of saying they're nerds. >The second one...

    Do you write genius characters?

Depends on what you imagine a "genius character" to be. If your view on intelligence is deficient, so will be your intelligent character and you'll end up with Light Yagamis and Ls. So what matters isn't how smart you are but your understanding of smartness itself. After that, its just about...
