    Guys, drop your saddest one-liner.

    I love you.

You just caused a death. How do you feel?

I think there's a spectrum between criticizing someone's work and criticizing someone doing the work. In my view, there are differences between "I think this book is horrible and here's why" vs "This book is horrible" vs "Your work is horrible" vs "You're horrible." A writer might have trouble...

    Bother Sleds

@Sleds So why is your name Sleds? I honestly thought this thread was going to be about some new type of sled. Maybe one being pulled by cats instead of dogs or reindeers.

Sometimes I feel like I want to destroy the world

Apply for an art school and get rejected. You might be able to destroy a few countries after... :blob_awkward:

Any cryptids or legends you’d like to see in a fantasy story?

All the legendary beasts from eastern folklore! Their version of dragons and goblins, mountain guardians, giant lake dwellers, etc etc.

AITA for torturing a formation creator for new insights?

People kill for strange plants and ancient books all the time there! Surely you did the right thing. :blobspearpeek:

    So as a fellow author

    1) I was poor, I was bored, I had a pencil, I had some papers, I didn't know how to draw but I knew how to write! 2) I like wishing for dumb things! Since they don't come true irl, I try to make them come true in writing. 3) I've explored a few genres, but there's still a number of them I really...

I need extra pair of eyes!

I think it'd depend on the content too? 1 and 2 look more upbeat, sort of like a page I'd find on a magazine. I only voted 3 because it had the easiest title to read. (Unless...it wasn't the title...)

litrpg tips from someone who hates litrg (unhinged rambling)

There are so many things wrong with this thread, and I initially laughed because I thought this whole rant was a joke, but now I see that it really isn't. There are about 5 things wrong with this one reply alone. 1. "Bad" LitRPG is subjective, and you have no authority to define what's bad for...

What is your protagonist(s) or antagonist(s)'s motive?

To be honest, I really can't read a story very far when I can't understand what's motivating the characters. I want to understand them, even if they're twisted or chaotic! And sometimes the protagonist's motive will literally be to stop the antagonist from destroying the world or something, but...

    Favorite overused tropes

"Light vs dark" theme! Especially when they're explored a bit more thoroughly.

    Pick Your Modern Item

Can I bring a vial of an old version of the COVID-19 virus? I'm already vaccinated, but I bet that Isekai demon lord isn't.

Do the villains win in your novel?

I've read a story where I wanted the villain to win, and they didn't. The main character was a typical no-background-no-story character that went about preaching childlike justice. The villain had a whole backstory dedicated to them, and they had a clear purpose for trying to destroy the world...

    World domination with low-tier powers

If I get to keep all my knowledge of the verse, then that's already a really broken power (omniscience), and a total takeover is probably doable without anything else. I just need to go to the right places, say the right words, do the right things, and...ta-dah, mission complete.

    Your views on standard complexity.

I like to think there's a line between a difficult story and a complex story. I find some stories difficult to read because they dump way too much info way too fast, these ones are pretty much textbooks to me. I need to study the material, when really I just want to read and enjoy it. When the...

    Is Piracy Wrong?

As someone who values morals a lot more than law, I'm gonna say piracy's actually beneficial in some cases, like...academic textbooks. The authors really don't need all that money from students over the world to get by, they're accomplished researchers and professors and academics. Us, we're...

How do you like your steak?

I hardly have steak, and when I do it's usually me cooking it at home. And I'll tell myself to cook it to medium rare. What actually ends up on the plate depends on how faithful I prayed to the steak gods...

    This is too funny!!

Sounds like a good way to use reality manipulation power, I don't see any problem here at all. :blob_popcorn:

I need to test and discuss this new writing method

It does read faster, so I think it's working to an extent for me! But it also makes it harder to read slower, and when I read fast I tend to re-read because I feel like I misread or skipped things, so...in the end I think it's doing more negative than positive.
