It's a Chinese novel, but [The Legendary Mechanic] starts off with the MC having been brainwashed to some degree.
And a Japanese novel: [Kuro no Maou] also has the MC start off being brainwashed to some degree, too...I think.

Of the two, TLM is better and far less edgy.
Both show other characters getting brainwashed at several parts, too.

As for English novels...I don't really know, sorry.

I don't think the mc in TLM was brainwashed. Didn't he completely resist the brainwashing procedure?

Oh, I guess you're right.
But they did try, and he had to act as if he was.
And there were other characters who were brainwashed both at the same time and later.
