Trying to write blacksmith apprentice... counting the logistics simply made me fear for my character's health.
Typically 1-6 acres of trees were required to produce the charcoal needed for a single day's output of an iron furnace.
A mature forest has 300-400 trees per acre
God... thinking about how Aussa had to fell up to 2400 trees in the scribel forest just for one day of operation of one smithy, and then she had to do three days...
Now... I have to look on how big the volume of one tree, and convert that volume to charcoal.
https://www.aqua-calc.com/calculate/volume-to-weight gives me 208 kg of charcoal per cubic meter.
https://www.unitconverters.net/volume-dry-converter.html gives me 0.740 cubic meter per 21 bushel.
https://colebrookhistoricalsociety.org/PDF Images/Charcoal's Role in the Iron Industry.pdf gives me 3840 cubic feet of wood for 21 bushels of charcoal.
So, what I had to look is how big is the volume of a tree, and how do I carry it with a girl's strength, assisted with cart.
@ohko, isn't this too much!??

I really don't want to write something like this...
Six years later...
Finally, Aussa finished making the charcoal. With these charcoal, she could at last pay for three days of forging. In the end, she had married with the collier, despite Dharc's horror as he shared this body too. It was the only way. She had no other way to complete the quest in a reasonable time, had she not do this. With him giving her food, she could finish the job without distraction. It was a long time, but at least, she could finally step on the adventurer guild once again.
