I'm currently dealing with the same problem.

Actually, 'honor' students hardly talk in online at all...unless there's a demonstration teaching. It's the normies who are quite noisy...but still relatively quiet compared to face-to-face classes.

Did you have a lot of honor students in your class?

Most of the ones I have do talk a lot. It's just an awkward combination of people since my group of friends don't interact with theirs.

Well, with only 4 classes to teach, I got all--from the lowest to the highest. But I'm always the adviser of the lowest section.

In my experience, our honor students still goof around with their peers...though it's a different matter when it comes to academic stuff.

I like to think of being an honor student as just having the motivation to study more

I always tell to my students that, while it's nice and good to have medals and honors...what's even more important is that one has learned something he/she will use for a lifetime.

I think that's the true purpose of education.
