Lavender and chamomile are a hell of a drug.

Any way of telling your roommates to stop/mitigate what they're doing that's causing your insomnia?

I feel your pain. When I had roommates... on average I was getting 5 hours less of sleep than I would prefer.

I'm allergic to lavender but I wish I could have it. The insomnia is not connected to my roommates as I've had it since I was a child so it wouldn't matter if they stopped staying up late.

Ah, I see...
That's...very unfortunate...
Would doing a ton of exercise right before going to bed help at all?
You know, tire yourself out physically so you end up sleeping straight away, or something?

As a ex-insomnia person (because medication for a time)
i can testify that the advice of "tire yourself out" seems a good advice but isnt, as 90% of the times not working (and depends on the person/insomnia)
(but (y) for trying to help)

Insomnia is hard to explain to people that never experienced it. Like depression and heartbreak.
They seems begnin but in fact a true hell.

The "want to sleep but can't" feeling, is a torture of the soul.
That takes a while of repetition to finally show its fangs and bite hard on sanity.
Nothing at first, but its until days, weeks, turning into months, and year(s) that its maddening.

Rolling on the bed for 4h, but still cant sleep, is also very depressing.
