In Lovecraft's world Cosmic horrors are not beyond human comprehension. It's just seeing them is so awful and paradigm-changing that going insane or killing oneself is the better choice when confronted with those truths. I conclude it based on the few paragraphs of Call of Cthulhu where narrator says that when humanity pieces together the disjointed pieces of knowledge they have obtained it will destroy them.

They literally exist to just draw buttons and stuff!
Let's talk about dead body disposal, my proposal
Take the corpse to the bathtub and drain the blood out of the bastard
Strip yourself nude first, so you don't get blood on your new shirt
And cut the fuckin' corpse up, like a butcher to meat, kid

I have a great-grandfather who has lived for over a century. Precisely, he lived for like 113 years and passed away 2 years ago, on June 26, 2021. And somehow, even though his biceps look lean, his muscles are hard as hell.
Once, a teacher of mine massaged him on the feet and the arms. He was flabbergasted. So, the teacher asked him.
