"Wings" not showing up in search or recently updated or tag search

Okay, after not getting any reply here, I asked on the Discord and someone suggested deleting the cover and creating a new one. I did that and the problem seems to be fixed. I think the current system of notifying the user if their cover was approved, but silently hiding the story if it's not...

"Wings" not showing up in search or recently updated or tag search

Also, to address some possible causes people mentioned in similar threads, I have not deleted and reposted any chapters, nor have I deleted and reposted the whole story. The first chapter was entered about June 21 or 22 and scheduled to appear on June 23, so the mods should have had plenty of...

"Wings" not showing up in search or recently updated or tag search

My problem is basically similar to the problem ejwilliamsbooks had in this thread: https://forum.scribblehub.com/threads/novel-not-popping-up-in-search-or-latest-updates.10937/ However, there was no user-usable solution posted there, it seemed to be something that the mods had to fix behind the...

Resolved Novel not popping up in search or latest updates

I'm having similar problems with "Wings", which I first posted four weeks ago and queued up several chapters to appear once a week. I just realized that it isn't showing up in recent updates, either generally or for particular tags, and it doesn't show up when one searches for "Wings". I...

Changing themes in genres - Gender Bender

I think the dichotomy between "new" and "old" people are talking about here refers to English-language prose gender-bender/transgender fiction, not anime or manga or light novels. I can't speak to those genres, but the tradition of amateur prose gender-bender fiction going back to the mid-1990s...

Changing themes in genres - Gender Bender

I've basically gone through a similar change in my own writing over the years as I figured out more about my gender and learned more about other trans people's experiences. I started writing gender-bender stories decades ago, and first posted one online in 2007. Over time I started having more...

Writing I'm looking into writing a Transgender Story; I need advice

Keeping a diary can be helpful both for exercising your muscles in general and for gradually building up a respository of autobiographical bits you may someday reuse in a story. I can't think of any fiction examples offhand, but big parts of "Walden" were basically repurposed and revised...

Resolved New Story from Author Notification

I'm the person Trashlyn was talking to about this. Didn't have a chance to check this out until now. As far as I can tell, this feature still doesn't exist? She sent me a partial screenshot of the Alert Preferences screen this morning, which looked promsing, but when I found time to log in...

    Story markup?

What kind of markup does Scribblehub use? Is there any way to preformat your story so you can paste it into the new chapter form and have it display correctly, without needing to manually go through and format italicized words, etc., with the editing toolbar? HTML doesn't work and BBCode...

    SSSC II

I don't think I could write this *without* being influenced by _The Tempest_ (and _Forbidden Planet_, the science fiction retelling of it). That's not necessarily a bad thing, and at under 6,001 words it would have to be a streamlined, simplified retelling. I'll do some brainstorming and see...

    Scribbly Short Story Competition!

I wrote my story (or at least the first draft of it) before I saw the link to the artists's DeviantArt page and their comments on the figure in the picture, so I wrote it wihout knowing anything about what the artist intended. I'll post the story in a few days after some beta reader feedback...

    Author Tools

I'll list some other tools I've found helpful for coming up with names for characters, especially for stories set in the real world or a close variant of it. https://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/popularnames.cgi -- Lets you find a list of popular baby names for any year from 1880 to 2017, or track the...

    Question about marking stories completed

If you've posted the last chapter of a story, and scheduled it for publishing on a certain date, should you mark it Completed? Or will that cause the site to falsely tell readers it's complete when the last chapter isn't visible yet?

    Scribbly Short Story Competition!

What is the provenance of the image? The artist's name, the license they released it under, etc.? After the contest is over, I'd like to repost my story elsewhere, and I'm wondering if I'd have the right to repost the image with it, and in any case I'd like to give credit to the artist who...

    Do you binge read?

I generally don't start unfinished serialized stories unless they come with a lot of recomendations and the author seems to have a track record of (1) finishing what they start or (2) posting updates regularly for a long while (or (3) the author asks me to beta-read or edit as they go along)...

    Resolved Chapters/week not accurate

I posted the first chapter on January 5; then, after the first chapter was approved and appeared, on January 6, I posted chapter 2 and scheduled chapters 3 and 4 for publication yesterday and later today. With three chapters published in the last three days, it shouldn't read "1 Chapters/Week".
