"Is everything ready, Letianna?" Looking at the beautiful carriage, designed by the finest craftsman of Gelderholm, even better than the one Scribel City could do, Luna spoke to the smaller figure beside her, dressing in a cute yet formal maid uniform. When the two stood together, no one would be able to guess that they were once adventurers, as their disposition was too elegant and refined.

"We'll be going to Mertis Village, and lived there until the Dance Party began. Naturally, you would have to work as a maid there, and as the rewards, I'll teach you some tricks and lessons about various things to keep in mind. Our time there will be not too short, but also not too long, so make sure to take everything you feel like you'll need." Sitting inside the carriage, Luna and Letianna were the only people to enjoy its comfortable seats.

The interior looked as if it was bigger than its actual side, and it could easily fit in 6 people, making the space inside it ample for Letianna to do her reading, writing, and many more.

I placed my bag down by my feet, it had everything I owned "I already put everything into the luggage Madam/Mistress/Lady Luna" I wanted to be a bit cheeky so I grinned a bit after I said that. These past few days were simply preparation, I had trained under one of my co-workers who was a maid extensively on short notice in return I was to bring back a gift of some kind.

I would have brought food, but it did not make sense if I was going to be dressed as a maid Ah what if it's like some kind of eccentric thing where Miss luna travels around with a maid? Though the dance party seems interesting, and Luna just told me that I'd be taught some stuff so I don't think I'll pry on what she's there for.

Her Encounter, Her Death, Her Rebirth (End)​

Days, weeks, months,

As day & night cycle, as season changes, time continuesly flows like a river & eventually the memories of the little girl is erased from everyone mind & ultimately became nothing but fragments of past.

The world keep moving, everything is in harmony, of course danger is still lurking in every corners of The world. But without her here, like a foreign musical note that creates dissonance removed from a great composition... The world now is in perfect harmony.

And while the world is in this state of peace.

Something takes place, behind the scenes.... Silently, unseen, creeping, unknown to everyone.

Somewhere in North, in a nameless vast peaceful land that no one would believe a mythological fight once takes place.

In the middle of the this beautiful prairie, is a small dry black stain on the ground. Which is Absolutely nothing special.

Until one day...

A small insect... An ant, lost from its colony, the ant wandered until it coincidentally reach the place where the small black stain is & just so happens that the ant die right on top of it.

From its death... A change occurs on the black stain, it pulsed although weak it give reaction. it awaken, & it slowly Absorbed the dead ants body.... Thus the black stain woke & became thirst for life.

Time went by..

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. As season changes so is the black stain. as it greedily Devoured the life of anything on its surrounding & keep growing from a mere stain to a puddle of black mud.

Slowly a pacthed spot devoid of life is created in the middle of the prairie. The spot is not that big, in the center of that miniture wasteland is the former black stain which is now a small pond of black mud

It keep absording any life from insect, frogs, plants, even the surrounding soils nutrients it Devours everything. The black mud is in great thirst for life... But no matter how much insect it eats, its thrist never felt relieve... It needs more~... Something that has a greater life source.

So it waited...

Then in a certain rainy day..

In the prairie a young bandit is being chased by a pack of dire wolves...

As he desperately run for his life in a aimless direction & he eventually stumbled in a pacthed land without any life in it the place where the black mud is.

Sprained his ankle when he falls, he could not stand up for a moment.. & knowing that the dire wolves is just right behind him. He close his eye to prepare for his impending doom.... Yet a minute past no wolves came pouncing on him.

When he opened his eye & saw the dire wolves were all fleeing away instead... Seeing that sight. the young bandit rejoice in relief as he mocked the coward wolves.

Finally giving attention to his surrounding, the bandit notice the oddness of the place & his eyes fell upon the black pond of mud in the center of this pacthed area of the prairie.

Curiously, the bandit goes near to check the black mud, but unfortunately due to the heavy rain & his sprained ankle. The bandit lost his footing & fell into the black mud.

He tried to stand up... But somehow the mud is incredibly sticky & thick, he felt a pulling force dragging him down to its bottom. He started to get worried that it might be a quicksand, but then the black mud pulsed.

Immediately Noticing the strangeness, he realized its not a normal mud but entirely something else, his fears grows.

The pulses keep going stronger. As the man panicked, he felt a terrible anxiety as he a unknown creeping dread covers him slowly dragging him into a nightmare. his mind keep repeating a single thought inside his brain...


Wherever in this mud is, its something that should never exist in the world.


The black mud move as if it has life. Black feelers made out of mud started to coil around the Young bandits body. He felt weak, his strength is being drained out of his body. Soon he notice his muscles started to shrink & skin turn pale. Eventually from a muscular body he became a skin & bone, but his despair did not stop there. He started to rot while still alive slowly killing him as he lose his sanity to madness of helplessness & fear.... As his life flash right through his eye he started regretting his sins... But its way too late for any salvation for him.

The bandit wants to scream but he cannot, he lose the strength to do so... & the black mud Completely Devoured him alive. The last thing the bandit thought is.

Now he knew why the wolves run away.

The black mud Transformed into a black sphere, after eating that bandit it goes into a huge change. It no longer absording life of anything around it. But the living creatures in the prairie retreated away from the sphere. Their instinct is warns them of a dangerous vibes from the black spheres...

Something terrible is about to be born.

Winter came... The snow slowly falls in the prairie, painting the vast green land into pure white land covered in snow.

A huge black sphere can be noticed from a distance, as it stood out from this white world made of snow. like a black stain in a sheet of white paper.

Not a single snow fells near the black sphere, as if to avoid the pacthed land where the sphere is located.

Then..

In this cold silent world, a sound of a breaking glass echoes.

A line of crack appeared on the Black Sphere, eventually the cracks became many and something emerges from within.

Breaking the black Sphere from inside her cocoon, A beautiful white hand Emerged from inside. Soon a Graceful white leg appeared breaking her black shell.... And finally a pure white girl slowly came out greeting the world with her new visage.

Long white Hair, White skin & a pair of pure red eye. She is naked like a newborn, the girl contain a beauty that give a sense of awe & omen. Finally the snow from the heavens falls upon her as if to cover her nakedness from the world to see & the girl gaze upon the heaven with her pure red eyes silently.

The white girl slowly opened her mouth while stull gazing at the sky above.. and she screams a broken melody to the heaven.


"A-aah-aaaahhHHaaa♪....aaaaaaaaaaAAAAA♪♪!!! "


The pieces of her black cocoon merged with the snow & covered her nakedness becoming a pure white dress for her.

The newborn girl keep shouting her voice that sounds like a broken Symphony or a unknown hymn. Like a cry of a newborn child As if to announce her birth to the world. Her broken chaotic yet gentle voice echoed in this Silent vast land dyed in winters colors made out of snow.

Her Rebirth, she who emerges from the black mud that Devours life made out of her own blood... She is born.

To Letianna's remark, Luna remained smiling without any change in her expression. In this preparation, she had improved her skin colour and changed her dressing attire to match the occasion, writing requests to the Merchant Guild and getting her hand on various noble clothing and decoration.

The journey was peaceful the whole way, as many knights and mercenaries were assigned to escort the carriage to Mertis Village. With the beautiful symbol indicating nobility on the carriage, most bandits and thieves would avoid them, not to mention the formation of formidable knights guarding it the whole way.

During the start of their journey, Luna waved her hand and created various magical symbols out of thin air, before pushing them forwards, merging them into the carriage. The symbols melted into bluish air and disappeared, becoming a layer of the transparent membrane that blocked all gaps of the carriage.

"Leti, during this time, we'll have to address each other accordingly, and remember, do not use our real name, or anything that could be traced back to us. I'll be called Arvios Cricetrax, the Eldest Daughter, and the successor of Cricetrax Family. You'll be my personal maid, assigned to be my playmate since birth." Knowing that space was secured, Luna finally told Letianna about her 'plan'. It involved the two attending the Dance Party, then, as the guise of a maid, Letianna must distract the court and let Luna do the work.

"The court is a wealthy figure, and also a greedy one. You must be careful when talking to him, as he is well-versed in mind-game, and could see through lies as easily as drinking and eating." After telling Letianna about her 'plan' and how it would benefit both of them, Luna finally started to teach Letianna about various things.

And soon, time flew...

When we arrived at the destination the door was opened by a guard and I got down from the Carriage. When I was down on the earth again and spoke "lady Cricetrax, We have arrived at our destination."

As Letianna was Arvios' personal maid, her position within the Villa became the Head Maid, and she held the highest authority under the Mistress herself.

During the course of the next week, Luna spent her time dealing with social activity, including meeting with various nobles, and accepting gifts from numerous merchants. Soon enough, her reputation as an elegant young lady spread among the circle of the nobles, and people began to write her many invitations, making her busy almost all the time.

"Letianna, I wanted you to go and discuss a plan to make a vault with this person, and if possible, I would like to know about the works he, as well as his relatives, had done. Lastly, try to get the blueprint of the best vault, the one the court had his father designed. It was a masterpiece of its kind." Before going out, Luna told Letianna to find the objective of their quest.

The man seemed to think a bit before speaking again "This lady is very talented to have been able to become so busy so quickly, What about, these?"

In front of me were multiple plans for vaults but I shook my head "Milady said that only the best could keep her items safe, Perhaps we can have something that made your passion burn while you were making it?" The man seemed stunned for a bit before taking out a plan "It was not me who made it, but my father But I helped a bit." He tried to be modest but it seemed he wanted to boast for some reason?

"This is the very vault plan that my father has ordered to create, I believe that if we overlay several other security features on it, It could become the best vault in in this part of the country." I spoke again "This seems like it'll be fine, I'll just discuss some changes that could be made so that you aren't accused of anything."

The man seemed happy "It's nice that you thought of that for me, then we'll discuss."

for the next few hours we discussed security features and made a new plan, with the 'original' plan in a dark color, while the new plan overlaid on top of it was white.

"Thanks for the visit, please do tell when your lady plans on constructing this vault?"
"I'm sure milady would love it." I said my goodbyes and returned to Luna with the plan.

Ah? Why did he start boasting about what he's done recently though? Though I guess luna will be happy to hear about it.

"Miss Arvios, it's my pleasure to have your presence today." The noble lady smiled as she offered her best tea she could get to Luna. The aroma diffused into the air, creating the atmosphere of an indoor garden.

"As expected of the esteemed Coneslia Family. Even the guest room could be seen as a work of art. I'm sure that Miss Silver would become the benchmark of the Architecture World." Knowing that Silver was the one who designed this villa, Luna complimented her before talking about various knowledge regarding the designs of the building. She had studied about them during the journey towards the village.

"If possible, could you let me peek at your proudest work? I was wondering about how to decorate my newly-built villa." Asking with a hint of anticipation, Luna perfectly disguised herself as the noble lady that showed interested in everything that could be classified as elegant and beautiful.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I? Talking to you have been very enjoyable... So take it as repayment from me." Silver gestured for the maids to bring out various scrolls. Many of them were old and already aged because of its long history. It was a fine collection of the blueprint of various buildings, ranging from the previous generation, to this generation.

In peace, Luna browsed through the blueprints one by one, saying praise and revealing fake awe before moving on to the next. Until, she found the one she was looking for, the layout of the Court's mansion, designed by several great architects. It was the finest work of her late father, and she easily showed it to the outsiders.

Of course, an ordinary person would never be able to memorise them, but Luna, with the help of sorcery, could create an exact copy of the layout, and had already done so.

It was only dusk when Luna got an excuse and hurried back, after promising to come back next time. She came back just in time for the invitation from the court to arrive, and also got the plans from Letianna.

"For now, we'll continue to gather some information about the Court, but nothing too risky and showy. It would be about one month before the Dance Party happened, so go back and relax. If there is anything that confused you, you can ask about it in a letter. I'll be attending the meeting with the nobles for a while." Luna told Letianna about her schedule, before getting inside her room and began to write to the Merchant Guild.

"Ah Miss Cricetrax is really busy, I would be tired after just one meeting." Gotta use her fake name now so I don't call her miss luna randomly "Well I'll make sure to keep busy so don't worry too much." After Luna left to her room I started walking through the Villa making sure that everything was in order so that I was given the image of a diligent head maid.

After I checked every room I walked around and noticed that a spot on the floor seemed more hollow than the rest That's strange, there should be no basement? Maybe it's a foundation? maybe it's an escape route? I wanted to investigate a bit but asking Luna later would be better in case something happens It'd be great if it was an escape route, if this house was attacked for some reason we could leave

I went to a room that had been reserved for me, a room right next to the master bedroom so that the 'master' could call for their servant quite easily. Once I sat down at a desk I started my magic research once again Let's go with something simple, light.

It felt like hours but eventually

"Light" a small point of light barely comparable to a candle's light appeared Finally! some magic!

I think I can keep this up for some time, let's see if I can increase my mana output? I feel like if I were to compare it, It's like I have a cup of mana but my body is only letting a few drops outside of my body at a time. I was also worried about how long it took to replace mana, It seemed waiting for my mana to recover would take way longer than drinking a mana aid like a mana potion.

so I wrote a letter

[Miss Cricetrax, I believe that it would be most beneficial if we had some herbs in the garden, perhaps those that refuel some energy. Along with that perhaps if there were also some books on herbs I may be able to craft finer teas and solutions better suited to Milady.] Ah I forgot to add my tea brewing skills to my-

Remembering the first time I brewed tea in this world I was scolded for wasting tea, and I was properly trained till my hand almost hurt. It seems I can't study all the time, I need to help luna

I then split my time between managing the household, conversing with the maids and guards, practicing my cooking, gathering street level information from the city, and finally, studying.

The doors of the Tavern slightly creaked, as a group of four walked in. The old man, the leader of the group, looked around for any sight of their target. When the group spotted any non-humans, they would reveal a hint of disgusted, but the old man's grip on the group was strong, and no conflict had erupted from any of their actions yet.

"This old man has heard that otherworlders would register as adventurers and gather here to celebrate after a long day of works... The doors of the Tavern slightly creaked, as a group of four walked in. The old man, the leader of the group, looked around for any sight of their target. When the group spotted any non-humans, they would reveal a hint of disgusted, but the old man's grip on the group was strong, and no conflict had erupted from any of their actions yet.

"This old man has heard that otherworlders would register as adventurers and gather here to celebrate after a long day of works... I have decided to try and learn the spear. I've noticed in fights with Gobo, that whenever I'm out of mana, I'm mostly useless afterwords. My first day training with the guards was very informational, I guess you would say. I mostly just practiced in handling my Pike and getting used to it. Vascille, my instructor, told me that a good foundation builds towards my future expertise. - - When I got back from today's training, I noticed Gobo coming back from the forest dejected. Looks like he couldn't find any prey for today's meal, but luckily we still had some meat left from the last prey. I made our dinner for today and after I practiced my Plant Manipulation, until we got ready for bed. - - I have to remember to ask the Jake tomorrow if he can help me with making a small wooden smoker. "Bishop, why are you so polite to them? We could easily beat them up and let them spill the bean." One of the figures behind the old man spoke up, but the Bishop looked back, and he shrank and shut his mouth.

"Apologize for his rude behaviour, Miss. He is one of the devout believers, but his mindset had always been flawed. May the Lord guide him to the right path.

"As for the appearance of that adventurer, she has silvers hair, and could use various magic. She was once a pure human, but now, she had turned herself into a half-elemental. She might also go by the name of Luna, or Solet." A humph leaked from the other figure, expressing disdain to the old man for his actions, but remained quiet due to his authority.

Vicious (IV) [CLOSED]​

There was a sea. A vast, infinite sea which stretched on endlessly, without borders.

Nay.

It would be more correct to say that it were a foreign expanse that didn't follow the laws of reality, yet instead of nothingness, everything took on the texture of something akin to [water].

The Wandering Sea. It had gone by many names, and will go by many more in future, but regardless of what identity it takes on, it will never intersect with reality. There were several conditions to it's manifestation, and now one of them is being met.

A grey-haired girl floated in the middle of it, eyes shut and legs tucked to her chest. She was the sole occupant of the Sea.

And despite how serene she looked, the girl was not asleep. She was merely not paying attention.

A century passed. Then two.

Or perhaps it hasn't even been a hundred thousandth of a second. After all, the concept of the flowing of time did not exist in the sea, either. The environment remained sorely unaltered---nothing changed whatsoever. And stationary it would remain, until it's purpose was fulfilled.

Nothing.

Nothing.

Nothing.

Then, finally, the girl who went by the identity [Vicious] opened her eyes with a sigh.

"I expected hell to look a lot worse than this...But perhaps this is the perfect hell for me. Nothing to do for eternity."

She examined herself. As far as she could tell, it was her body. Then she moved on to her face, her hair---and then got interrupted.

"Hmm~ hmm~ What have we here?"

Someone suddenly embraced her from behind.

"Wha---"

Reflexively she caught the stranger by the elbows and pulled, flinging her away in an overhead flip. As the stranger was thrown a good distance Vicious managed to get a good look at her features---black hair, black eyes, black clothes.

"Who are you?"

"I feel that I should be asking that question first, seeing that you suddenly popped into my place unannounced, but I shall allow it. You're in my part of this strange dimension, and I rule this place. Well, I say rule, but I have no citizens so it's more of an honorary title."

The pace of the conversation threw off the Liberi, and she was slow to respond.

"So...why are you here?"

A blink.

"I believe I did tell you that I rule this place. Why am I here? Perhaps I wanted to take a walk. Or perhaps I felt the presence of another, and rushed here to see. And now I understand why. So, I will have a talk instead."

The girl got extremely close, causing Vicious to lean back.

"So, what ails you on this fine...day? Night? Whatever. Tell me all your sorrows, so that I may laugh at you. Go on."

"No."

"Hoh? Are you sure? Spilling your inner troubles to another will help you feel more at ease. I'm offering, you know. And in here it's about as secret as it gets."

"I do know. It's not as if I don't know what therapy is."

"Then what's stopping you?"

"Because I am a sinful girl that does not deserve any happiness. My only purpose is to die atoning for my mistakes."

"Ouch! Be careful not to cut yourself on all that edge there. Or are you one of those masochistic types?"

"Like hell. I'm more of a sadist."

"Well, I'm the contrary, so we should get along great. Now, the million dollar question---what species am I from your perspective?"

"Either way, you're no Mary Poppins, I'll tell you that much."

The girl allowed her a few moments to chuckle away, then smirked, and pointed at Vicious.

"What?"

"You laughed. That wasn't so hard now, was it?"

"...Hmph. Go away."

The disgruntled Liberi turned to float in another direction, but the short silence didn't last before an annoyingly familiar face popped into her field of vision once more.

"Hm, I know. How about a trade?"

"What, the part where I sell you my soul in exchange for power? Not interested. Go peddle your offers somewhere else."

"Pffft! No, no, I wouldn't do that kind of stuff even if you asked me to. No, the trade I'm proposing is a rudimentary one. It's very simple---you can keep drifting around here if you wish, while I'll borrow your body for a spin."

"And murder a whole bunch of people with it?"

"Well, not to be that person, but you murdered a whole bunch of people while in your own body, didn't you?"

Vicious flared angrily.

"Those were necessary sacrifices!---"

Scarcely had she started when she felt a warmth envelope her. The black-haired girl was patting her on the back.

"Now, now. No one else will get to see this. So there's no need to hold back. If you really wish to weep, then go ahead. There's no shame in feeling shame for doing what had to be done. I will allow it."

"I know, I know. It's a difficult job, and it's unlikely that you'll be thanked for it in the end. But on the bright side, you do believe in what you've fought for, don't you?"

"You have more than earned a rest. If you want to, just dump everything on my shoulders and take a nap. Sounds good?"

She wasn't sure how long she'd dozed off, but when she came again to she was lying on someone's lap. Looking up revealed the grinning girl from earlier.

"How was it? Feeling better?"

"...Slightly."

The girl helped her to sit up, then pulled her until they were face-to-face. And to her unpleasant surprise, the girl's grip overpowered her own.

"So, now that you're better, let's talk about that deal."

"...What do you propose?"

The tight grip relaxed, allowing her to pull away.

"Simply put, we'll swap roles for a bit. I'll leave you in charge of this place temporarily, while you leave me in charge of your flesh body for a bit. After you get bored of sitting around, we'll swap back. Sounds alright?"

"...And how am I to know you won't just pick up the golden apples and leave, 'Hercules'?"

"Well, you'll have to take my word for it, 'Atlas'."

Without meaning to, the two shared a laugh. Then the black haired girl continued.

"Our personalities are quite similar, so you don't have to worry about me building up the image of a goody-two-shoes and stuff. Oh, but I promise not to slaughter innocents without reason as well."

"That's..."

"Also also, I'll halt the flow of the disease that's spreading through your body until you wake up. Whatever I do will be credited to you, and when you wake again you can resume doing what you wanted to do. It's an offer I don't usually make."

"But..."

"How about it? The duration of this contract will last until the individual [Vicious] deems it to be no longer necessary. Until then, I swear upon my own identity that all clauses of the agreement shall be upheld to the best of my ability. In return, you shall relinquish control of the body to me temporarily, and I will return it to you whenever you willingly request for it once more. At no point in time will I nor any of my associates attempt to coerce you into saying otherwise. No strings attached."

"...But why? This deal is quite beneficial to me, but you do not stand to gain much from it. And with the conditions I specified earlier, it's really not worth the trouble for you, is it?"

"Hah! Reasonable point, but I'm willing to do it anyway. Let's just say that I'm paying an old favour forward, a favour from long ago...'sides, you've got a smoking bod there! Would be a waste not to move around with it for a little---ah, yep! That's the stuff!"

"Would you look at that! It's an even better catch than I expected. Waist is a bit on the thin side and you could really use more meat on your bones, but that's some nice muscles and some nice cur---"

"Oh, come on now. You can't possibly be that dense. Think on it a little. What do you have on you that is likely to form a connection with me?"

Vicious frowned, concentrating on the question before making a grasping motion for her backpack. It wasn't there, but the other girl smiled anyway, holding out her palm.

"Looking for this?"

Lying in the middle was the ring she'd picked up from that cavern exploration. But unlike before when it merely didn't look too bad, the signet was now polished and sparkling.

"Look at that. I had a hunch I found a good one, and it paid off. Now, it's just lacking---"

"The ruby in the middle."

The black haired girl narrowed her eyes.

"Interesting. You have undoubtedly never seen this ring before, yet you know what gemstone goes in the socket. Very interesting. Now, hold out your hand please."

The somewhat dazed Liberi did as she was asked. Then her conversation partner grabbed her by the wrist gently, and slipped the ring onto her ring finger.

"Wait, wha---"

When the other girl pulled her hand away the ring was fitting snugly onto the finger, and a ruby was winking where there once was a hollow. Staring at it directly produced an effect not unlike a kaleidoscope.

"Go on. You should know who I am now. If you accept this contract, then say it. Say my name."

Still somewhat in a daze, the girl held out her hand.

"...I'll entrust it to you for the time being then...Elaine."

The proffered hand was grabbed immediately and shaken rather vigorously.

"I heard you! That wasn't the name I wanted you to say, but I will allow it! And I declare that I shall uphold my end of the bargain with my utmost power. In the name of the Tenth and Final Crown---"

The girl's eyes widened in shock as she felt another set of lips press briefly against her own. Then they vanished, leaving behind a minty aftertaste and a ear-to-ear grin.
