SH would do better if there is a section at the front page dedicated to stories that are older than (say) 3 months with best ratings. And another one for the most read fictions in the last (say) 3 months.
The trending section does a good job to give exposure to new authors. But a reader generally looks for a story to binge. It will be best if there is a readily accessible section on the home page to reach the best the site has to offer.
NOTE: I know you have these features in the advanced filtering.
