One of my cousins has schizophrenia. Classic case too. There's medication for it. Not a cure, but a continuous treatment. It works great, problem is the people on schizophrenia meds always "think" they got better and stop taking it. Thus going back into relapse.

Like type 3 diabetes, there is no fixing it, you just have to stay on the meds.
