Help: Fourth wall breaking

I have a story that goes off in breaking the fourth wall similar to how the game Doki Doki Literature Club break the fourth wall continuously, basically in every chapter. I have two perspective one break the fourth wall and the other do not. To spoiled the plot before I even post it

The character know they are inside the story and can hear the author

I'm just wonder how to make a distinction other than changing the color of the text to who is it.

Italics for the author. Or you can put brackets or the similar sort around it. [ ] Making sure to keep this consistent.

You could also go through the route of the author quoting everything in the characters perspective to note that their narrative is that of a character, similar to the narrative changes done in Heart of Darkness.
