if people are talking about the absolutely awful translation skills of a large number of translation groups to CN/JP/KR material.......

Reading some of that stuff is just painful. I can't count the amount of WN/LN's and manga/manhua/manwha I have dropped because the translator did an absolute shitshow at his or her work. Of course, I didn't do the usual practice of sending half a dozen angry messages to them or flaming the entire group in the chapter comments. I just....stopped reading it. It's amazing though that I might be a minority in that. Most I take notice of prefer to insult the translators and their mothers in the next 20-30 subsequent chapter comments section until the group eventually drops the work.

I am a MTLr and can confirm that. The names, genders, and points of view may be really bad, but with some editing, everything's good!
