Tags and your cover image help readers find your story. Please add as many as you can that fit your story if you wanna grab readers. Genres but no tags doesn't pull. Feels bad looking at good stories that get no views with dozens of chaps bcs they have 5 tags that aren't even mainstream.

Is there a way to check what tags are available?

I don't even know if the genres I have selected fit my story, how am I supposed to find tags that fit

If you're on PC, go to create and edit the details of your story. When you click in the tag box a list from a-z should appear. As you scroll through add the ones you prioritize most and then grab the lesser ones since the max is 25.

If you're on mobile, do the same thing and go to create and then details. The drop down is there as well.

It is tedious to look through all the available tags, I agree with you there.

More importantly in my opinion is write a good synopsis and don't be afraid to put some expectations and whatever tags you want there if the site doesn't offer them

Nah. A good synopsis is important, it's true. But if nobody ever reads it because they couldn't find your story...

Well, that's why tags exist. To help people find you.

Oh, by any chance was my story one of them? I'm working on a new cover art, but feedback is scarce.

And I'm nervous, I've been writing for 5 years but I'm beginning to wonder if my writing or ideas aren't as good as I had hoped and I think the tags are good.

I have an audience, just want to build a bigger one. A lot of stories that released around when mine did have a larger audience, and it's led me to question if it's my writing that's the issue. Argh, need to reread it and rewrite it again, I think.

Tbh I'm not sure why your story isn't more popular with so many chaps. It seems to have potential based on what I saw in the prologue. My have to ask one of the vets.

My fear is that it may be the stigma of being a smut story :/ the idea was to write smut but to take it seriously, to build up these relationships and characters while developing a mystery that shifts the tone of the story moving forward.

It's not new for me to learn that others aren't interested in reading it because of the smut tag. I was even considering rewriting the story without any smut to see if it would be received better.

That, and the possibility that my stuff isn't as good as I want it to be.

The stigma regarding Smut exists only among authors here on the forum.
It's the most popular genre on Scribble Hub.
Readers seek it out, stories with this tag perform better, and moreover, they seek smut the way you want to do it, that is, with the building of characters and story around it. If they wanted something different, they would watch a porn video.
So from this point of view, don't worry and don't be ashamed of what you write.
This site is fantastic precisely because it gives us the freedom to do so.

You started to publish your story here 3 months ago. Having 337 readers is good for that period of time. If you want more audience, try to publish it on other site.
