What's it like to be an escort? What have you heard? Anything interesting that you're able to tell me?

Well, you asked about the escort business and in the past "escort" was more often than not a euphemism for high class prostitution. Actresses - which was the reason for their bad reputation -, ballerinas, songstresses were very active in this kind of escort business.

Some places you can buy an escort for their talents, like playing an instrument or see them perform a dance. Other times its going to public events with that buyer. Its not always sexual which is why I asked. For that second type of escort you would be like a pretend boyfriend or girlfriend, or even just an arm piece for whoever is paying you.

The whore one? depends on the pimp but there is a video from a real life pimp detailing how that stuff works I know about that I can look up for you. Basically they break you mentally and shit, keep you in a certain state of mind where you depend on them (the pimp) so yeah its rarely a good deal. In a brothel it can be different, but only the more high-end brothels would treat you well. The lower-end ones can get pretty bad. I mentioned to you before how certain brothels regularly test their whores for stds. Some even offer to pay for abortions or to have the women's tubes tied or to have the men sterilized or whatever that is called. Vasectomy, is it? They treat their moneymakers nicer and better since they are highly trained professional, normally really high quality--meaning beautiful--prostitutes similar to escorts. The hookers are investments in those cases so they have to be taken care of as they arent quite as easily replaced.

Most the former, really was curious if most escorts are independent or if they're part of an agency or what?

They can be either or. Its mainly about putting your name outnthere and building a reputation among certain clients. An organization would help and plenty of escorts work through one im sure.

Meetings? Yes because the client has to tell you what he wants and how to coordinate with him. Or if its just you being an armpiece thats not needed though

There are documentaries on netflix or even probably other places that talk aboutnthis sort of stuff tho. The knowledge i have wont be very in-depth about the day to day life they have

Hm, as far as I know, there have been various different high-class escorts in the ages, but something they all had in common, IIRC; is that they were "high-class" - in a sense that they are aimed at the rich ones, knowledgeable and skilled in things the rich ones enjoy. Things like music, poetry, and such. In addition, they were not just a common prostitute - people often spent money to simply spend time with them, without anything sexual ever happening. Depending on the "image" that they sell, they might never have any such relationship unwillingly with a customer.

In California, it's legal for escorts to have sex with clients off the clock, AFTER spending an hour of social time together, so they're technically not getting paid for sex, but most people know what's going on. I consider myself a sex worker, though I'm not currently in the industry unless you count working for my husband as sex work.

I'm confused. If you worked as an 'Escort' there were no legal ramifications if you had sex with your customer off the clock. Hypothetically you would get paid for the service and most likely it would include pay for the sex after the 'service'. How would it be possible to be busted for other escorts if they knew how the law works? >.> They must have been dumb in some ways :/

Also I dont hope that having sex with your husband counts as work :D But if he sends you to other people to have sex for money I would say that it very much counts as work even if its just enjoyment for you

A lot depends on quite what is meant by being an 'escort' - it can go all the way from 'arm candy and pretty people in the background at big events' to 'compensated dating' or 'being a rich person's mistress' to 'prostitution with a (very thin) veneer of legality'. The main complexity arounds prostitution and escort work (legally speaking) is what counts as being 'paid for sex' - a streetwalker that approaches someone on the street and flat-out says prices for handjob, blowjob etc. it's pretty straightforward. But someone at an event, has a few drinks with someone, goes back to theirs, and then the person, purely as a 'gift' gives them a bundle of cash? Well, they could just be generous to their one-night stands... or it's prostitution. Also, is there an expectation of sex - if it's a straight-up commercial transaction, that's generally illegal, but if money or goods happens to change hands, as a gift, that's fine. So there's a rather large area that's a bit murky, where someone might be engaging in prostitution, or might just happen to have a number of generous friends they met at swanky events or whatever.

Ahhh, i see @ohko Use the Japanese method in your story to start the character off slow. In Japan girls work at Piano bars (Hostess bars) where they are paid to be cute, talkative, and pour drinks for the males at the tables that buy bottles and tip them for their company/conversation. It's flirting but non-sexual. But, as you can guess...Being a Hostess can lead to other things: Going out on paid dates, becoming a mistress, etc.

So, if you want your character to start out innocent, start her in a hostess bar (where she is making decent money pouring drinks and laughing at corny old man jokes) then have that LEAD INTO the life of escorts ( a lot more money).

Escort missions are the worst. Assassination and attack is easier/more cost effective than defending against such.

Right! The best strategy would be to determine battle formations within the escorting team, as well as which types of bodyguards to bring.
