I never thought I'd come and witness myself actually playing the underrated beginning of the PERSONA series, oh well, since this is on the same wavelength as Megami Tensei—I am ready for it! SO first of all, I started PERSONA by playing P3, and what can I say—I was deeply amused by its combat mechanics, the story had me glued to the screen, and this new type of JRPG pulled me from the world of cliches.
I've actually started playing P1 yesterday and the OP, OST, and mute-VA cutscenes were pretty brilliant. It isn't an overreaction, so to say, it was the truth—even though it's already old enough. The types of equipment were expensive and scarce, there are SP-regen when walking (but is difficult to do from open-dungeons because of the encounter rate), there are no quests indicator so you'll get lost if you don't read the dialogues, there are guns that went unto P5, and a literal contact feature where you can talk to a lot of monsters and find hilarious conversations.
And while it is easy to get lost, it is also easy to get used to the map, although, some dungeons will 100% confuse you—so walkthroughs are a necessity.
I haven't even finished the game yet, nor has entered the snow queen quest, but I already have a lot to say. I'll definitely come back to this thread after I finish the game.
EDIT: I am on EXPERT difficulty, I can't change it, but I can at least show my saved data.
I already have the best weapons from the CASINO (don't tell me how much I wasted on gambling), and I've been doing auto-weapon because of how broken the weapons are—usually at this point in Mana Castle, there is more MAGIC null than WEAPON and GUNS so it is a really good place for me to grind. Other than that, the EXPEL is cool—I am expecting to use it in every boss battle. I can't also get any monster cards because I am under-leveled, and even though I can kill them with weapons so easily.
In Mana Castle, I am in front of the final door grinding (lmao). Seriously, the grind must continue, and if I get ambushed then I'll just escape. In addition, I am maxing DEX (more hit), AGI (more speed and evasion), and LCK (avoiding ambushes while having a preemptive strike) because they're so significant! DEX and AGI not only boost their respective points to hit and speed but to others too.
