In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagon load of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Haliwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business." You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You've encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.

You've all just met and are now traveling on the road with a wagon. Please introduce yourselves to each other or don't if you think your character is the secretive or antisocial type, though Ungrave doesn't have to since they already did earlier in the thread. The introduction doesn't have to be long or in depth. It can just be your name. But a good paragraph isn't bad either. Really, whatever you're comfortable with.

And lastly, please tell me how each of your characters are traveling in relation to the wagon. One of you must drive, but the others could either scout ahead of the wagon, walk left or right of it, or ride on it, or any other thing you can think of.

Last lastly, use IC: when saying/doing something in character. Use OC: when coordinating with other players or asking me something or anything else out of character.

Last last last thing, don't worry if you don't know how to play. I'll tell you literally everything you need to know. So feel free to ask anything.

Players:
@Ungrave Zasuba Killing, the Tiefling Warlock
@JustHANO Braum, the Half-Orc Paladin
@Serzy Kelden, the Human Paladin
@Grim_Ether Irithil, the High Elf Wizard

Once everyone has introduced themselves I will move to the next scene.

Introduction. (Occurred earlier, back at Neverwinter)
"It is a pleasure to make your aquantance."
*Greeting directed at the human, but gives brief nod to the Half-Orc and Tiefling*
"I am Irithil, a Spellweaver of the High Elves. However short our time working together shall be, I hope it ends in fortune for all of us."

She then spent the remainder of the journey in the back of the wagon, scribbling notations in her spellbook and on a few pieces of parchment she pulled from her bag. Anyone who interrupted her was listened to, then waved off.

There is no chance she would know Gundred, a merchant such as himself would have to be of great fortune to do dealings with Elven Nobility.

"Braum is my name and I expect the journey ahead of us to go smoothly. Follow the path of justice and we shall be blessed, derail and you will feel regret." Braum said back at Neverwinter, motioning his spear towards the non-paladins. "This is Regret, hopefully, you stay on her good side, " he said showing the handle of the spear and snorting.

Braum now walks along side the horse, looking out for danger.

Well, I guess I'll introduce myself before going to sleep.

I'm 'Zasuba Killing'; a Teifling warlock who had been spending many years in seclusion learning about the secrets of the world, and ruminating on whether or not to default on the contract with the higher being I'd entered servitude to. I value reason and believe that everything is a part of a greater cosmic plan. I learned of a secret hidden to the world, but keep it to myself as the only thing brought to me by knowing it is fear and hopelessness. Unfortunately, it would be unlikely for me to know Gundred, as I spent my time in seclusion and don't know too many people. The only reason I am associating with the party is that I heard there was work, and needed the money to help integrate back into society.

And whoops, looks like we've got ourselves 3 lvl 1 casters so... RIP.
Okay, let's get this show on the road!
You've been on the Triboar Trail for about half a day. As you come around a bend, you spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side.
Please tell me what your characters do in response to this scene. Remember, Gundren and Sildar both went ahead of you guys. *Cough cough* That's two people. There are also two horses. *cough cough*

OC: Should I talk in third person or first person with my character?

IC: Kelden brings the wagon to a stop upon spotting the horses, and gives a shout to alert the rest of the party. Then Kelden disembarks and gestures for Braum to investigate with him, still a bit relaxed, but ready to draw his sword if he needs to.
Whichever one you prefer. It's mostly a stylistic decision, I think. First person is more immersive, while third person is more descriptive.

Braum admires Keldan leadership while he murmurs a quick prayer.

"If those horses belong to Gundren and his friend then we must find where they were taken. If you believe them not to be, I must find who did this. No murder of animals can go unpunished."

When Keldan and Braum investigate the horses they identify the horses as belonging to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter. They've been dead about a day. The saddlebags have been looted. Nearby lies an empty leather map case.

@Ungrave @Grim_Ether @JustHANO @Serzy roll initiative. If you don't have an application for rolling dice already then google: d20
and add your dexterity modifier to it. You can see your strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, charisma on your character sheet. The number in parenthesis with a plus or minus next to your dexterity is its modifier. Add that to your dice roll. And tell me what it is in a post.

Initiative determines the attack order of combat, so when I ask you guys to roll initiative it means a battle has begun.

Now that everyone knows how to roll dice, I would like everyone to roll another d20 and this time add your proficiency bonus and your perception. Proficiency and perception are under your strength, dex, and constitution. If you don't have perception under skills then don't add anything.

Perception is exactly what it sounds like - your character's ability to detect things. I will ask you guys to roll for skills like perception when your characters must overcome a challenge, like if you wanted to lie or steal or throw. Everyone can do these things, but having a + means your character is particularly good at that.
