What would you have done?

So, what would you do, if you were in my place?

So, first, I would like to mention that I didn't mean to waste anyone's time. The thing is, that I did German tests online, and got the false impression about my German Language lvl. And I got through an interview and got a job, managed to push through my first two weeks of training. No idea in the head, as to what sort of German lvl I had, since no one made note of it.

Then, on Friday, I got called by my trainer, and she told me that my accent was too thick. Which... you know, it is true. And that is something that the clients don't want to hear. I learned German by myself, with apps, music, books and videos. Had no one to correct my accent. I don't think that I have what it takes to correct it now.

So, should I keep pushing during the one month they gave me to try and be better, or should I find myself a job with English? (Which I learned in school, and had more practice with.) The salaries with English are higher now, than last year. About 1k leva less than the German salaries, but I have a cheap rented apartment (because I have 2 roommates, the apartment is great.), spend only when I absolutely must, and still have plenty of savings.

So, what would you do, if you were in my place? Hang on, even when you know that 1 month is too short a time to get rid of an accent, or quit?

I don't know you well, but I do know your work ethic is very good. I don't know many people who write as much as you do. Perhaps you could do it if you work hard enough.

If it were me I'd leave 'cause I'm terrible at changing.

Which makes more money?
Which one do you hate more?
Pick the one with the best Hate to Money ratio.
The work with German makes more money, but some clients constantly tell me that they want to speak with someone from their country. I can help them too, but they don't care.

That is so nice of you to say. I have planned to read aloud the entire afternoon. Already bought a book from a shop, and got it on my ereader. A Regina Masters Book about a super national agency in German. Started off steamy. :s_wink:
As a jobless bum, I agree with his statement.
There were also nice people. I mean, one woman told me I was nice. Said she can't pronounce my name, but you know, I got a couple of good calls. I just am used to being good at things from the get-go, or better said, to feel as if I am good at things from the get-go. Now, though, I feel as if I am the worst in my group.

That feeling is not pleasant.

No, call center agent. That is why my accent is such a problem.

Seriously? You work at a call center and they have a problem with your accent? That makes no sense unless you work for something high-profile like banks or lawyers. Nobody cares as long as you're polite and don't want to sell too much sh*t...

Just ask your trainer if they have a way to get you into public speech training courses or some other certified courses. We Germans love our certified courses so much you need to take at least 4 to even think about working in a supermarket or gas station... (Anti-theft, food handling, general hygiene, and BRANDSCHUTZMAßNAHMEN)... I bet they'd pay at least half of it if the training looks professional enough.

The only thing you can do, really is repetition.
Keep repeating until you're done. Get yourself a microphone and spam that bitch.
Or leave if it's impossible for you to get to an acceptable level in a month.

My trainer said she will send me some materials, but I think she forgot. Or she sent them at the wrong email. I honestly don't think that the company will cover any classes for me.

1K Lev is a lot. It's best you stay there your accent can always improve.
Honestly, the net worth of an English job is about a little bit less than the German job. (I forgot I wasn't supposed to say how much I get paid.) But, honestly, I don't spend a lot. My rent is just 250 leva, it is warm now, so I don't use the heating anymore, and the water in Bulgaria is cheap. Here in Sofia, there are good supermarkets, where there are plenty of promotions. I have a discount card for one of them. Will make myself more in the future.

I don't want to quit my job, just finished reading 60 pages out loud, will search for videos from speaking specialists about the letter L, since I have problems pronouncing it at the end of a word. But... I sometimes ask myself if those extra leva are really something I can't live without.

Well, they are hiring French speakers, but the work is just from the office. So, you will have to move to Bulgaria or Poland. I think there was also an office in Kosovo, but they closed it.

I'd say try to fix your accent for the month, but switch if you feel like you won't make it

That is what I thought to do. At any rate, even these two months will help me prepare for a call center job.
