I don't want this thread to be locked, so try to avoid talking about ideologies or world politics and be not specific, if not vague in your answers.
I think it's an interesting thought experiment and it's useful to authors because it allows them to take a perspective that is rarely used in most webnovels, one of a great scale and not really event-focused/driven.
Now, to the prompt:
I believe that our current society is in an experimental stage, a limbo of sorts, between the previous century that enjoyed a far-too-rapid growth in terms of industrial and communicational capabilities and what is yet to come. We haven't quite figured our way around what we can do and what we are to do, and how to do it, so we are now stumbling around, feelings things out, and suffering from growing pains.
I want to see what you think will happen to our future and how we will get there.
Rules of the prompt:
1) the main character is the collective of humanity/its current civilization. No individuals allowed in the narrative
2) no references to political ideologies, opinions and individual countries/organisations (I don't want this thread locked)
3) time scale is rough (not precise), point of view looks at how things change in decades at a time
4) only states of society (how people's mentality changes and how the collective views the world, their goals and problems), technology etc. are described, no individual events however large are given any thorough attention (you can say, for example, that a war broke out or a country fell apart or such, but it is not to be seen or shown as a point to weave your narrative around. That would be against the spirit of the prompt)
It seems quite tough, so I am looking forward to what you people will come up with
