Not to make any judgements on this particular novel, but if you as a writer have needed to clarify to new readers "Don't give up! Read the first X chapters then it really gets good!" it's a big red flag for your own writing.

IMO a novel should set broadly the tone, genre and type in the first chapter. No need to wait to chapter 10 for it to get good. It should get good from the first chapter!

Kinda depends. I’ve read some books where it needs a set up. Or a miss leading one. Letting you sit and get comfortable. Then bang, the story fuel for the bullet.

Or a slow set up, making it fleshed out and making you engrossed from this building suspense. Drawing you into the story, and you and the Mc are at the same footing of knowledge, and goals.

Never read the OP's novel, but I could argue that some novels have a slow start needed to build up to something bigger throughout the story, and that it may be necessary to ask your audience to be patient with it in hopes that it will pay off.

My novel starts that way, it begins as a slice of life before turning into a more serious and adult-themed story.

Does that mean i could get as much views if i bothered to translate my secret stash of favorite or the "current popular CNs" ?
XD

But thing, i wont do it. Not interested to care about "views"
(Espeically when i did once this mega epic quality Uchiha chinese FF where he get Tsunade but deleted =p)
Its a loss of time, "low fun", and i dont use patreon (does it pay well btw? XD) and comments arent like before and feel "lackluster".

I always hated novels with "heighthened cultivation capabilities/ boosted martial intelligence" because while it is fundamentally same as having a system and grind one's ass off, the product that has such "increased smarts" is often insufferable.

This is from an experience with a book labelled "stayed in a sword hall for 60 years and OP" with MC got sword experience shoved up his brain via asswards and got more and more sword powerful.

In the end, I just feel the BS hard to swallow any further.

Still, I will try the recommendation, mainly because all my bookmarked works are in cooldown.
