I wouldn't say wrong. These are just alternative spellings from a time when English orthography wasn't codified yet.

Yeah, but I imagined if commoners could go to schools, then it would make sense if their spelling was more centralised.

Yes, Old English. It still had genders for nouns.

^^ Indeed. You can't tell by hearing. So Aurora thinks obviously Veronica with c due to her background.
