"I hope that I'll be compensated.", Adsall mumbled. He was travelling by foot according to the directions Vicious took. He had packed light like Viscious did, but he was still tired. Focusing on Viciou's quest report, Adsall stopped for a moment to ponder where he was. "Wait it says here she made it by running. Oh frick I better start travelling faster."

It was the afternoon and the sun had set halfway, unlike Adsall who was way behind. "I'm not gonna make it. It's too far. I should've rented a horse. I should've packed supplies. Fu-". Adsall's inner monologue was interrupted by the sound of a woman screaming. Going into investigate, Adsall silently moved through the thick green foliage.

He saw a caravan with some giant slimes? , some burnt corpses, some loose cargo, but most importantly a cat-eared woman half naked and in tears, with a bandit in front of her. It was obvious what was happening. Adsall, in an uncharacteristic action, charged in like a bull seeing red and with his hammer, he bashed the bandit's head with a LOUD THUD knocking him out.

“Oi Kenny! I know that bitch is dangerous, but we still need her alive! So don’t be hitting her so h-“, said a bandit as he emerged from inside the caravan.

“You killed Kenny! YOU BASTARD!”, screamed the bandit as he rushed forwards towards Adsall brandishing his iron sword.

The bandit swung like a madman, giving Adsall no openings.

“Left, Right, Backstep. I really can’t keep up with him.”

Adsall’s eyes darted everywhere looking for something to use, until he spotted a rope.

With a dodge roll, Adsall moved towards the rope, grabbing it.

“FACE ME COWARD.”, the bandit yelled as he prepared to charge towards Adsall.

“WRAAHH YOU’RE DEAD MEA- THUMP”

As the bandit was charging, Adsall used the rope like a whip, entangling the bandit’s feet.

Adsall quickly approached the bandit and stabbed him in the right eye.
“I think that’s all of them. Are you o-“, Adsall said aloud while swiping his forehead. "BEHIND YOU." , the woman screamed.

Quickly turning around, Adsall came face to face with an armed giant muscular man. "FRESH MEAT!", he screamed as he brought down his giant spiked base ball bat. Adsall, who dodged the baseball bat, was stunned by the crater that attack left, before quickly snapping back to his senses.
"MOVE!", The woman shouted. Adsall confused by this turned around and saw a giant fireball. He quickly jumped out of the way, unlike the bandit who’s corpse was now smoking.

"Ow.", Adsall moaned. His right foot had gotten lightly singed by the fireball, his foot was now completely red and was heavily blistered. The woman quickly rushed into the caravan and emerged with a bandage and some healing herb.

As the woman approached him, Adsall finally took notice of her face. She had glossy silver hair which was a bit disheveled, and clear orange eyes. She was a beauty. So much so that Adsall blushed at the sight of her.

"Thanks for helping me." She said as she bandaged Adsall's foot.

"It's not that much of a big deal. How about you? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I got bruised a bit by the bandits.”

“What about your friends?”

“I’m travelling alone. See those corpses? The fools thought they could ambush me. You should’ve seen the looks on their faces when they realised they were fighting an Archmage.” , She pridefully boasted.

“What brings you here anyway? Mr…”

“Adsall, and I’m looking for a town called Fuyu Machi. I’m going there as a representative of the Adventurer’s Guild of Scribel.”

“I’m Synthia, and today’s your lucky day! I’m on my way to see the Miko myself. The least I can do is escort you there. You probably won’t be able to find it anyway due to the barrier, and if you do I highly doubt that you’d be able to set up a meeting with the Miko.”

“Here let me help you up.”, Synthia said as she pulled Adsall up, putting Adsall’s arm on her shoulder and slowly helped him up the caravan.

“It’s going to be a long ride, so let’s get to know each other. Why did want to become an adventurer Adsall?”

“Well… as a child, my parents used to tell me a lot of stories…”

With giant slimes pulling the carraige, they both set off.

++++++++

The two had been chatting from sunset to night, sharing laughs, regaling each other with tales of their adventures, talking about their future ambitions, etc.

“So that’s how I became an Archmage. It took a long time, but-. We’re here!”

Passing through the barrier, Adsall came face to face with the town of Fuyu Machi. It was a small quaint town.

They drove past an apothecary shop, a church, until they reached a tavern.

“You should rest here for the night. It’s the best inn in town, and I personally know the owner.”, She boasted.

“Also take this!”

She put her hands in her pockets and took out a copper ring with a tiny red round gem embedded in it.

“This is proof that I , Synthia Vermüntat, vouch for your existence in Fuyu Machi.”

“Don’t you dare give this ring away or lose it. Okay? Promise me, no wait. Pinky Promise Me!”, she said in a demanding tone, while offering her pinky.

“A pinky promise. What am I 8? Well I guess I should go along with it.”

“I promise.”

“Okay! I’ll come and take you to the Miko tomorrow, let’s meet here at uh… 10 am?”

“Oh yeah, and after that I’m happy to take you around town.”

“That sounds great. See you then.”, Adsall responded happily.

+++++++++++++

Adsall opened the door, causing a ringing sound.

“Fueh?”, exclaimed the little cat-eared girl who was sleeping on the desk.

Reclaiming her composure she sputtered “A- Oh Welcome to the Weary Bear. I’m Lilitina, how may I help you today?”

“I’d like to rent a room for the night.”

“Okay, that’ll be 25G. This includes breakfast dinner and lunch of course.”

“25G? That’s pretty expensive!”

“Well if you want a discount, we can take the meals out and you can just sleep in the stable for 10G. We can also just kick you out and make you sleep on the pavement like a hobo for free. ”, she retorted with a stiff smile.

“Okay. Okay. I’ll pay.”, Adsall said while handing over the coins.

“I thought Synthia said this place was cheap.”, he mumbled to himself.

The girl’s ears twitched.

“Synthia? You know Synthia?”, She exclaimed. “You better not just be throwing names around.”

“I do. She gave me this ring as proof of her vouching for me?”

Glancing at the ring, Lilitina’s eyes widened.

“Guess you’re not lying. *sigh* I guess I can lower the price to 10G since it’s only for one night.

She handed back 15G.

“Thanks. But why is the price so high?”

“It’s because of the recent amount of animal disappearances. We also don’t have much spices either due to the low number of merchants. We used to have a lot of them, but bandits have started appearing, attacking and enslaving them.”

“I see. *Yawn*, do you mind giving me my key? It’s not that I don’t enjoy talking with you, but its pretty late and I’m very tired.”, Adsall remarked.

“Oh yes, sorry about that,” The girl said before quickly fumbling to get the key.

“Oh, and also if you need anything just ask for Melia, Have a good night! ”

“Thanks.”

Adsall didn’t have a good night.

Upon entering the room and flopping on the bed, Adsall came into the sudden realisation.

“Today… I killed not one but two men. I killed a human.”

His thoughts were flooded with various thoughts.

“They deserved it.”

“They were fellow humans.”

“If I was smarter I could’ve just knocked the first bandit out silently and just taken the girl.”

“But this is part of being an adventurer. Blood. Guts. Violence.”

“I’m a monster aren’t I?”

He didn’t get a chance to finish his debate due to his skill |EZ SLEEP|. Which was for the best.

+++++++++++++

“COCKADOODLE DOOOOOO.”

After he was rudely awakened, Adsall decided to explore the town.

He did his morning routine, and proceeded downstairs for breakfast.

The tavern was pretty packed with loud beastman drinking and shouting.

“Seriously? It’s the morning.”, Adsall muttered to himself.

Grabbing a seat, Adsall signalled a waitress.

“Ah, It’s Mr! Are you enjoying your stay?”

It was the girl, Melia, who he saw on the receptionists desk last night. She was in a waitress uniform and diligently working.

“Yes I am. What do you serve for breakfast?”

“We have a lovely meat and vegetable stew, paired with some freshly made garlic bread!”, she responded.

“I’ll have one serving please.”

“Coming right up!”

*Sip*

The soup was quite tasty. The sweetness from the vegetables was paired perfectly with the right amount of salt and pepper.

*Crunch*

The bread was a shade of golden brown around the bread, with both faces being a wonderful yellow.
It was also crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. Much better than the bread in Scribel.

“How’s your meal?”

“It’s really good! I can’t get enough of this taste!”, Adsall said with his mouth full.

“Of course! After all the Weary Bear is the best inn in Fuyu Machi!”, She boasted while puffing her chest out.

After finishing his meal, and bidding his goodbye, Adsall decided to go and have a look around town.

He came across a variety of shops: Apothecaries, Restaurants, Jewellery stores. At one point he accidentally stumbled into the red light district.

He did notice that his presence wasn’t wanted though. Some beast men sneered at him as he walked by, Some glanced away at the sight of him, a bigger beast man even came up and bumped into him purposely.

“I guess they’re not very welcoming to humans.”

Turning the corner, Adsall went past a particular shop. He stopped out of interest.

It was a store called “Little nibble café”.

Entering the store, Adsall decided to look at the sweets.

There were a variety of cakes, tarts, and buns.

But the thing that caught Adsall’s eyes was a gelatinous yellow sweet, with some brown syrup covering it.

“Pudding?”

Taking his first bite, Adsall was hit with a burst of flavour. It was sweet, and melted in his mouth.

Adsall ended up buying 4 more pudding cups, before leaving to meet up with Synthia.

“Hey.”

Looking up to see who it was, Adsall glanced towards the voice.

It was Synthia, dressed in a beige shirt matched with a black undershirt and black skirt. It gave her a mature look. Adsall couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“Stop staring… you’re making me blush.” She said, covering her face.

“Huh - Oh Uh yeah. I wasn’t staring! We should go to see the shrine maiden yes? It’s getting late anyway!”, Adsall sputtered out as he began to walk off.

“Hey Adsall that’s the wrong way. Just follow me.”

“Oh.. .haha”

+++++++++++++

“So… she’s up that mountain?”

“Yep.”

“Do we have to climb it?”

“Yep.”

“… ,” Adsall was speechless. Solemnly staring into the sky.

“No, I’m kidding hehe. There’s another way up there. But first we must meet Tai ge.”

“You called!”

Suddenly, a muscular beastman appeared behind them.

“AH, Don’t sneak up on me like that!”, The startled Synthia said.

“Ah is this the human you spoke of? The one from Scribel? Adele?”

“It’s pronounced Adsall. It’s nice to meet you Mr. Tai Ge”, Adsall said extending his hand out.

“Oh no need for formalities! You saved my sister after all! C’mere!”

Tai Ge suddenly pulled Adsall towards him, giving him a very strong hug. So hearty in fact that Adsall’s back started producing cracking sounds.

“Bro. You’re crushing him. Let him go!”

“Oh my bad, I forgot that humans are pretty frail.”

“Are you okay Adsall?”

“I’m fine, Synthia. I don’t think anything broke. Even-though it feels like everything broke.”
(OOC: Italics = Inner thoughts)

“Wait you guys are siblings?”

“I was born after my brother. Of course I am also much younger than him, smarter than him, p- Ow!”

“Enough boasting! Anyways you’re here to see the miko right? Well. Adsall, There is a way for you to go up to Yato Machi without all the trekking but you wo-“

“Let me stop you right there!”, Synthia interrupted

“We’re not using that fucking catapult or cannon or whatever it was.”

“But there isn’t another way to get up!”

“What about the waystone.”

“I guess the waystone also works, but the catapult is fun! Trust me. Hey Adsall you’ll try it right?”, Tai Ge said as he placed his hand on Adsall’s shoulder and gave him a thumbs up.

“Come on Adsall, lets go to the waystone.”, Synthia as she pulled on Adsall’s sleeve and pulled him away.

“Hey wait up sis.”

After what was a 5 minute walk, They reached a weird looking stone which was attached to the mountain. It looked normal, yet weird. If you glanced past it, you probably wouldn’t have noticed anything, but if you looked at it for a long time… It’d look unnatural, like it was out of place.

“What is that?”

“A waystone. It’s a device that I personally made that would allow instantaneous transportation up the mountain, however for it to work you need to be a beast kin. It’ll work if you’re with another beast kin though.”, She lectured.

“Now just put a hand on it and brace yourself. I’ll put mine on last as I have to trigger it.”

After Synthia put her hand on the waystone, The waystone began to glow. With a flash, they were all in the Yato Machi.

“Welcome Adventurer Adsall, to Yato Machi. I am Sora, Miko of Yato Machi.”, yelled a little girl dressed in religious garbs.

“I hope your visit here has been fruitful. I hope you’ve enjoyed our hospitality.”, She enthusiastically asked.

“Yes I have, I believe that our Guild could benefit from a branch here.”. Adsall responded.

“However; I don’t know if we can. From what I could gather, the locals have a grudge against humans, and with a lot of the adventurers being humans. Eventually tensions could get high and we’d have a civil war.”

“No way! No way! while I do believe that there is some tension, I doubt that my followers would outright attack humans, unless provoked.”, She quickly rebuked.

“The shogun is willing to not tax the guild for 6 months, if you guys make a branch here.”

"What do you mean by not tax?"

"By lowering the tavern prices from 25G to 10G for 6 months. (4 Weeks)"

"Thats the same price as Scribel? Not very alluring."

"She's also willing to give you access to our manastones mine, which contain a lot of powerful and clear manastones."

"She'll even send helpers to help construct the guilds building."

“That does sound enticing, but also alarming. Why does the shogun need adventurers? War?”

“No, nothing that extreme. It’s just that monsters have been appearing more often, more goblins, more slimes. Ogres have also started appearing, which is very alarming. The shogun suspects a monster raid may occur soon, so she wants to strengthen our towns defences.”

“I see. Where is the shogun?”

“Oh, mom’s out training the guards, instead of this fool of a brother.”, Synthia casually answered.

“Wait the shogun's your mum?”

“Yeah. It’s not something to really brag about though.”

Many responses floated in Adsall’s head, but he decided to remain speechless, letting out a low sigh.

“I’ll bring the deal back to the guild. It’s the Guild Master’s decision after all.”

“Great! I’ll fly you there myself!”, Sora said enthusiastically.

“No need Sora, I need to make my way into town to trade anyway, after all most of the cargo was destroyed in the bandit attack.”, Synthia interrupted. “I’ll bring him back myself.”

After they descended from the mountain, Synthia and Adsall bade farewell to her brother and proceeded to travel back to the town of Scribel.

OOC: I thought that bandits in the area using weapons similar to that of onis would work.
"... It seems that the mountain is hiding something from us, or at least from Miss Vicious, as her report and yours came into conflict in some parts. This is something worthy of taking notes."

Day 1: After having spent 2 days getting their whilst foraging along the way I finally arrived at the small village of Asteria an outpost city. The only reason really for this city to exist seems to be because of the peddlers following the well worn road to and from the city selling and collecting wares and goods. The city is the fastest route for a peddler to take between Scribel and the cities further to the West of it. A lazy air seems to have settled over the village, one of those airs that seems to come naturally to places like Asteria. People walk through the city slowly moving steadily to do what is required from them a relaxing scene unlike that of the city which is a bustling and agitating sight.
Assertion: Village has no major disturbances going on and seems to be running efficiently. The guard post is still manned by my counterpart.
Conclusion: Village currently experiencing period of ease likely after a large celebration yesterday. Place is relaxing enough that I should be able to concentrate on my side purpose.
Assertion: There is a small congregation at a more robustly constructed building.
Conclusion: Maybe it won't be so good for my side purpose as that appears to be a temple.
"Bother." I slowly walk up to the guard. Scanning him to make sure he's okay.
Assertion: The guard is not breathing...
Conclusion: Master at some hidden skill or he's dead... Annoyance.
I slowly get closer and as I come close the man begins to stir. Luckily he isn't dead! A large relief that would have put a major hole in plans. A far greater hole than that of the temple. "I'm your replacement I believe my name is AIEO." The man begins to get from his chair.
"Well fancy that a lady like you is my replacement huh wouldn't have thought someone like you would take such a quest." The man sneers a little as he says that oh well many are prejudiced against women and someone who looks as I do will always draw ire from others. "Anyway all you have to do is stay here and watch for threats if any of the villagers need ya they will come up here. It's actually really relaxing quest."
"I thought as much that's why I choose it I need some time to fix some internal issues after all." I stand still and get a good look at this man he seems to be giving off the same air as the village he will likely be returning here soon enough the bustle of the city likely to much for him now. "Anyway anything in particular I should look out for or no special monsters around here?"
"Nah nothing special near here." The man shrugs grabs a bag off the floor and his aura suddenly seems to change to that of a man bustling to be gone. "I FINALLY GET TO GO BACK TO THE CITY AND EXCITEMENT!" The man bolts past me and begins running off to the city.
"Maybe my assumptions where wrong, he's probably one of those cultivators or something." Anyway time for me to settle in and make myself at home. I've done everything I need to.

Day 2: Nothing much happened after my arrival yesterday and I shall avoid going to the more solid building one of the villagers asked me to help with a little wild animal problem but that sorted itself out before my arrival. So I have had plenty of time for prayer and self reflection, the daemon however has felt that this is an appropriate time to be a pest and continuously whispers doom in my ears once every hour. An extremely minor annoyance though but an annoyance none the less. I hear a villager running towards me yelling for something. I quickly get up, "What do you require villager?" The man slows and comes to a stop before starting panting. The man is not dressed like the other villagers he is dressed in a brown habit. Maybe he isn't a villager.
"Ahh I'm the local priest, I was wondering if you'd like to come to the prayer session tonight it's an important feast day after all." I go tense all over my body.
I quickly look for the words I want to express my hatred of Gods properly without insulting him to much. In the end bluntness is probably my best bet. "No I don't think I will. My experiences with Gods has been relatively bad overall I'd say." I shrug and begin heading back to the inside of the cottage.
"Oh okay." The priest responds in a seemingly depressed way. His problem not mine. I go back to my post and return to my knees. "You aren't like the others that come here most of them like learning about this small countries habits and look for a distraction." The priest begins to head away from me back to his church at a far more sedately pace he probably tired himself out running here.

Day 8: Nothing much happened in the intervening days I unshackled a part of my mind for a period of time I've forgotten what that did though after re-shackling it and the Daemon continued being a pest. I helped out a few of the villagers with village stuff. I just heard a horn in the distance better check that out quickly. Getting out of the building I run into the town where the horn noise definitely came from whilst scanning my surroundings. I notice a small bear off in the distance though it doesn't seem to be the problem I should check up on it after this just in case.

Having arrived at the disturbance sight I can see why they called me a peddler and one of the townsmen seem to have gotten into a spat of fighting bothersome town. The peddler has something holstered in his pocket that looks similar to a bolt pistol, slug thrower or an exitus pistol though it's far to small to be any of those. "Hands up the both of you." I yell whilst pointing the crossbow at the peddler whilst the man on the floor begins to wriggle away. "Stop wriggling and put your hands in the air or I will put the bolt through your leg." I look sternly at the wriggling man on the floor whom has now stilled and is slowly raising his hands. The peddler with his hands already in the air. "Now what exactly is this about and why did it start. You will tell me the truth or we shall have a longer talk later."
Assertion: The man is far more injured than the peddler.
Conclusion: The peddler is stronger than the man in a fight bigger threat.
Assertion: The peddler has a guard hanging back behind him.
Conclusion: The peddler or his guard where attacked by the man more than likely.
The scene has gone silent after my arrival and I'm sure an intervening busy body will come down here soon. Time to move this along. "So which of you is going to start I say seeing as how neither of the two has spoken." The peddler begins to move towards me. "Did I say you could move?" The peddler stops.
"Well you didn't say I couldn't." False statement but I will let him think he has me there.
"Are you going to tell me what is going on or do I have to listen to him instead?" I say as if he has annoyed me with trying to be a smart aleck and jumping through a loophole as all merchants seem to.
"Ahh on my last trip through here I sold this man here an item and he seems to not have liked the quality of it. So he decided to try and rough me up for whatever reason." The merchant shrugs and stops talking.
"What is your version" I turn my gaze to the man on the floor. He seems to be trying to make himself look pitiful down there that will not work.
"He stole me money I bought a dagger which he guaranteed me would last for 6 years. Not the pitiful 6 days it lasted! So when he wouldn't compensate me I went to attack him but than my blow didn't connect somehow and I ended up getting beaten up." The man is still trying to make himself look pitiful he's absolutely pathetic.
"You" I point to one of the villagers. "Deal with him whatever the punishment is here for an unprovoked attack."
"Mister peddler is what he says true?" Having to spin back around to the slowly backing away peddler I'd assume it is.
"Of course not it's a preposterous story!" The merchant sounds worried as if he'll bolt if I push it.
"Is it now?" I say looking very cruel and malicious. "Than I'm sure you won't mind me asking the crowd if it is true or not right?" I turn back to the villager still on the floor. "So anyone else who'd know about this or is it your word against his?"
The villager stutters a little before saying, "Frank the miller was there to he saw it and he was there when the dagger broke to. Weren't you Frank." I look around to the man whom the villager is looking at when he comes into view I seeing him nodding.
"Aye it was true I saw it."
"Well that's good enough for me, you will pay him his refund. NOW GET FUCKING MOVING." I spin away and begin to walk back to my post. Leaving the crowd to rapidly dissolve luckily that priest didn't show up.

Day 9: The rest of yesterday was uneventful as I'm sure you'd expect the bear was not any threat. Though I do wish I had a cape and a hat though for that it'd be way more intimidating I'm sure. Anyway today it's almost night and time for another unsealing I'm sure if you paid attention to my condition you'd have noticed that the purple on the suit seems to have diminished greatly. Before it was all the way up the leg now it's down to the knee. I can hear someone running here time to stop my musings for now. Going outside I look at the priest whom has arrived. "Ahh thank you for putting a stop to that fight yesterday in such a fair manner. I hear you cut quite an imposing figure the way you rocked up. Anyway I came to ask about coming to a festival to pray again." Oh it's almost time for the daemon to make it's annoyance.
Right on time like bloody clockwork the Daemons voice whispers in my ear "DOOM!" The priest begins looking around the area.
"What was that?" The priest continues frantically looking around I yawn a little.
"That was just a pestilent daemon hitchhiking in my consciousness nothing to worry about really. Luckily it seems to be far less powerful because it's God hasn't followed it through to this world so far." I yawn a little more. "Anyway I'm going back to what I was doing you continue on with your celebration. For all intents and purposes I'm only here when trouble erupts." I do another little yawn and sit down the priest seems to have quickly run away. Time for me to get back to my own problems.

The rest of the period ran smoothly enough I made sure a rabid wolf didn't enter into the village by putting a bolt through it's head on the 13 day and a few other minor troubles with the peddlers and between the villagers popped up but nothing important I was relieved by another adventurer and I than made the uneventful journey back to Scribel not much to say really other than I got the purple colouration down to running from my foot to the top of my ankle.
"Great work— Wait, there's a demon inside of your consciousness? Well, I think that Miss Nene also has that going for her, so you two might be interested in talking about this."

'And here I thought fighting monsters was the most tiring work out there. Evidently I was wrong, what with the fact that I forgot everything that happened between the end of my shift the previous day, and when I woke up in the inn this morning. I don't even remember getting back to the city, in fact.

As for the request itself, well...it involved lots of running. Copious amounts of running. Some jumping. Anawfullotofcussingandswearingandfreefalling---

Ahem. Let's not elaborate too much on what happened. Basically, we started off in the tunnels during the day, me and a couple dwarves on a couple minecarts. The plan was to use the rail system to get to the flood walls, mend them quickly, and then double back to the city.

Notice how I said the plan was to do that? Because obviously it went off on a tangent---nay, it didn't so much go off track as it did go topsy-turvy and all over the place, and I'm not even going to talk about the fakking kobolds ambushing us every now and then. At one point the whole plan took a literal dive along with the tracks; some fak in the group blew up a portion of the rails with a firebomb and made a huge hole in the system.

The old dwarf engineer told the idiot (after we somehow all got out of the carts in time before they fell into the hole) that it was damned fortunate the collapse didn't touch any of the faultlines, or the whole section of the mine might have collapsed on itself along with us. As it was, the minecarts with the supplies for repairing the walls went straight into the hole and fell one floor below, and since the carts broke we ended up carrying the supplies by hand. Thanks a lot, buddy.

Then came the actual repairing of the flood walls, which to it's credit wasn't that difficult. Just stack layers of bricks and brush them up with mortar, then jam them into the crumbling sections and fill in the holes with even more mortar. Afterwards, it was just a matter of waiting for the mortar to dry, and bam! Wall fixed. Simple job, right?

No.

Besides the occasional ablublublu and kobolds, which we had to drop our work and fend off---tell me, have you ever watched mortar dry? It's about as exciting as it sounds, and I'm not even talking about the time taken for mortar to set, which is the entirety of one week. No, just drying alone takes a whole day.

Not to mention, the replacement crew got here late because of the blown up tracks, so we waited down in the tunnels for two hours longer than we should have. After they finally reached and took over from us, we then walked back up to head to the gates and fix up the newly-destroyed catapults and ballistae from the just-recently finished attack. Again, it wasn't too difficult to repair existing fortifications---so long as they were useable---but building and installing new ones were another matter entirely. I don't want to think about how many times a stray beam nearly smacked me off the walls.

In the end, between the old dwarf's experience and me running everywhere to secure items, we somehow managed to stay on schedule for the number of things to be fixed. And to give it the credit it's due, it was quite the enriching experience.

Therefore, now that I've gotten the experience, I shall gladly never take this request ever again.'

UNAPPRAISED

~ Me and Gobo successfully harvested 5 small bags of healing herbs, however we had a problem while we were harvesting. For the first time , Gobo noticed a goblin near the healing herb area. Unfortunately, while me and Gobo tried to hide until the goblin left, we were discovered. We ran towards the riverbed near the Float Ferns and I threw the Float Fern at the incoming goblin. We esacaped, while the goblin started rising into the air. When we got back we told the guards of our encounter. Perhaps you could send someone to go investigate this Goblin sighting?~

I woke up Gobo and had him go down to have breakfast for the day. We say our thanks to the staff and start are day, by walking to the Adventurers Guild. I walked up to the guild counter and asked for another Herb Collecting quest today. While I was accepting the quest, the receptionist told us to be careful of goblins. Adventurers have reported more goblin sighting then the usually since the first camp was wiped out. I took note of the receptionist warning and bought another 10 small empty herb bag. After that we left and went to go grab our usually supplies for the day, a couple of loafs of bread and cheese. Gobo made an empty sigh about another day of just bread and cheese. I told him that today we could buy a big piece of meat today and let the Tavern cook it for us when we get back today. Gobo we very happy today while we set out the gate, too complete our quest for today.

We finally get to herb field and start foraging around. Gobo and I have gotten used to finding these type of healing herbs easily now. We got finished collecting our 5 small herb bags quickly and so we had a lot of extra time before lunch. I decided to collect a few bags of the Tri-Flowers, while we had extra time. Collecting this Tri-Flowers took a large timely amount because I couldn't let Gobo collect it, so I had too use my Light magic to slowly dig out each and every flower. Eventually I finished collecting about 5 bags full for Tri-Flower and we start to have our lunch near the riverbed.

Nearing our lunch, I hear Gobo make a low growl. He start's pointing in a direction and telling me in hand forms that something is nearby. I rushed to tell Gobo to take us to a nearby bush and hide, until the goblin leaves the area. We see the goblin, it has a small rag as a cover and a dagger in it's pocket. It is approaching the river bed, more concerningly the spot where Gobo and I ate at. It seems Gobo left some bread and cheese, while we were rushing to hide in the bushes. The goblin finally arrives at the spot of our lunch and it starts to sniff around the area. Me and Gobo try to stay as quiet as we can. As the goblin sniffs the area, we can see it coming closer and closer towards the bush the I and Gobo are hiding at. I tell Gobo that when I flash the goblin the my Light magic, too start running towards the town.

"NOW!" I cast Light, too make a large flash of light in front of the incoming goblin. The goblin is blinded for a few seconds and while that happened, Gobo starting running towards the town as fast as he could. While Gobo is running is hard as he could, I notice the goblin is catching up to us, looking very angry. I could tell that it would catch up to us before we could make it to the nearest guard post or town. I had to find something to help us escape or least get rid of this goblin chasing us. As Gobo is running I see the faint light near the river bed. It's a nearby Float Fern and just then I had a plan. "Gobo, go towards that Float Fern!". Gobo started running towards the Float Fern, the goblin still hot on our tail. Approaching the Float Fern, I cast Light and make a bubble to encase the Float Fern. I tell to Gobo to stop and turn towards the goblin, so that I could get a precise shot at the goblin. The goblin fast approaching us, I threw the Float Fern at it, as hard as I could. "Yes it hit!". The goblin confused why it couldn't run forwards towards us anymore, while it starts to float into the air. "Ok Gobo let's go!".

Gobo and I finally get back to town. Gobo is still breathing quite heavy from all this running today, not that I could blame him. While we enter from the gate, the guard ask us what the problem was and I tell him about our encounter with goblin. He takes note of it and will tell the guard to take appropriate actions because of this finding. Gobo takes us to the Adventurer's Guild to turn in our quest and report in our finding about the goblin encounter as well. While we were turning in our 5 herb pouches I noticed that out of 15 of my healing herb pouches, some of them got smashed and ruined. It looks like they were messed up while we were on the run. Luckily I picked extra for my self, or may be I would have failed the quest. I also explain the situation of the goblin chase to the receptionist and to also thank her for the warning about the goblin.

We exited the Adventurer's Guild and start heading towards Cecila's Grocery store to buy Gobo his meat for today, he definitely deserved it considering today. Gobo is looking at which piece of meat he want's today, like a kid at a candy store. He eventually decides on a big slab of beef. I pay 8g for the beef and we set out towards the Tavern. When we get to Tavern we say our hello's to Pierre and tell of our story about the goblin. We also ask him if he could ask the chef, so coulds cook this slab of beef for Gobo. Pierre comes back and tells us the cook said that he could. Eventually Gobo's huge piece of meat comes out of the kitchen and unto our table. "Good job today Gobo and Thank you". Gobo smiles back and then starts gorging himself with his reward for today.

We pay for today's room and board and head up to our rooms for tonight's rest. Gobo with a full stomach put's me on the window still and he walks clumsily to his bed, still patting his stomach. Gobo falls asleep and think about today's encounter. May be we should stop going to the healing herb fields for now and we should get Gobo and I some protection as well. Well I will figure it out tomorrow.

After spending the day recovering, I'm in top shape again the next day! This time I actually land on a gang member as I jump down from the bed. We roar with laughter as I get chased out of the room and arrive in the assembly hall, in which the captain is already waiting.

"Sup', Cap'?"

"I see you have already recovered. Good. We need all the fighters we can get today, and fighting seems to be the only thing you're capable of."

"Cuz we're gonna mess the Mariani up, right?"

"So you did listen to me yesterday. Today, follow our orders and don't just rush into combat."

"Aye aye Cap'!"

The rest of the gang slowly assembles and the Captain gives us a rundown of today's plan.

"Alright gang, today we will attack the hideout of the Mariani gang in the slums to crush them. We are first going to meet up with the rest of the gang from the other hideouts. Just in case you didn't know yet, the boss' hideout is in Magdala's Street, house number 14, and the left hand's hideout is that alchemy shop in Warp Street. Now, get armed and follow me."

The other gang members nod solemnly while I am rather confused. Is today going to be extra dangerous or what?

...

Sometime later, the whole Crimson Coin gang is gathered in the slums. I see the left hand and boss for the first time - the boss is a quite delicate man that does not seem to be the fighting sort, while the left hand has this wizard-y vibe, with his long hair and fancy clothes. Looks quite full of himself too.

After a quick speech which I barely listen to, the left hand guy casts some sort of magic, changing our appearance and sending some sort of phantom things into the building. A couple of minutes later, we storm into the building and the battle begins. In a flurry of kicks and punches, I wreak havoc with my gang mates bringing down one Mariani after another. Meanwhile, the right hand is already off behind the enemy lines, looking for their leader, while the left hand supports us from behind with his spells.

Everything seems to go smoothly until a strange sound from behind gets my attention. As the fight seems mostly won, I turn around and see a door get kicked open near the left hand. I don't hesitate and dash towards him. Out of the door comes a fancily dressed guy with a rapier that thrusts his blade at the left hand - that manages to dodge the first thrust.

As the second thrust comes, going for the left hand with uncanny precision, I jump between the two, trying to block the rapier with my brass knuckles. The rapier pierces right through them and into the right side of my chest.

Danger detected. Unlocking memories. Personality Exal restored.

Okay, this situation is rather bad... but also my chance to finish this mission. The person with the rapier pulls his weapon back, and I stagger but remain standing. The left hand of the Crimson Coin seems to have safely retreated to the rest of the criminals. Which leaves me alone near the enemy. I dash out of the building, and he gives chase.

"If I can't take the mage with me, I'll at least kill you!"

He does seem rather enraged, but I don't think I stand a chance against him. A single attack from him broke my weapons, after all. If I were a normal human I'd already by dying. In the next 2 minutes and 32 seconds, I am in a wild chase with the enemy through the slums before arriving at a dead-end which leads to an open part of the sewers. This is the spot.

I turn around to face him - and the rapier pierces my throat before ice shards explode out from it. The force of the attack tears my head off my body and catapults both my head and the rest of my body into the dirty sewer water. The core received minimal damage, so I am fine.

7 hours and 21 minutes later, I drag myself out of the sewers in a budget variant of my Exal body, which, I suppose, looks like a child. Then I finally return to the guild and hand in my report.

...

Additional notes:
The Crimson Coin guild has managed to defeat the Mariani gang but is currently weakened from the battle. The leader of the Crimson Coin seems to be the one tasked with planning operations and business strategies, the right hand is a skilled rogue who mainly executes combat operations and the left hand seems to be an illusion mage that mostly deals with matters of subterfuge. Sketches of the leaders are appended in this note.

The hideouts of the Crimson Coin are located in the following locations:
Boss: Magdala's Street House 14
Right hand: Near the 3rd Merchant street in a side alley
Left hand: Alchemy Shop in Warp Street

I recommend immediate actions, should the guild want to keep the Crimson Coin from expanding further. The Crimson Coin seems to expand aggressively, but cares about its members and honors its customers and contracts.

The fake identity "Canis" is terminated and might be unrestorable.

Seeing the missing children quest I decide to check the missing person list there happens to be a young red haired girl with 2 horns sprouting from her head and a magical necklace with a duck on it. The necklace can't be taken off the child for some reason it seems. The clothing she was wearing was a white dress? The last known location of the child is the Scribel slums well that area doesn't sound all that safe now does it. I slowly walk away from the quest board with the missing persons paper tucked into my clothing.

Arriving in the southern district which appears to be the slums I notice the far dirtier nature of the place and I can hear fighting in the background. Maybe coming here personally wasn't the best of ideas eh who cares time to deal with this. I slowly begin to look for scraps of white cloth a drunken man slowly comes out of a building. He sees me and begins to walk straight towards me.
Assertion: Man is drunk near certainly but he also seems to have some interest in me.
Conclusion: This may develop into a concerning matter ignore and continue on with the search.
I move on past the man continuing my search when I come across a well with a scrap of white dress floating from some of the wood I peer down and below there is a small girl with a white dress partially obscured by the water.
Assertion: Girl may have white dress but more confirmation is required.
Conclusion: Body retrieval is necessary.
Assertion: Will have to retrieve body personally
Conclusion: Access to the waterways or will have to fish the body from the waterways.

After spending some time rigging up a way to reclaim the body via fishing I drop it down. The board tied onto the rope and weighed down with stones sinks rapidly down to the bottom of the well. I begin trying to lodge it under the girl by moving the rope but it's not very effective. After about 20 minutes of trying to achieve my goal I finally lodge the plank under the girl and can begin to lift her up I do so slowly.
Assertion: The girl has the duck necklace and horns.
Conclusion: This is the deceased.
Assertion: The body is not breathing or making any visible movements and even if they could have survived the fall unlikely they would have not survived being down there for so long.
Conclusion: The child is dead.

I drop the corpse off to some place where the locals point me to and than return to the guild. Someone else can deal with the body disposal my job here is done.

"Hey, Pale Boy. If you open up this cell, I'll show you a good time!", yelled a prisoner as he rattled the cell door.

Followed by even more rattling and obscenities as his fellow prisoners started jeering Vysic.

Low life trash. Honestly why do we still keep them alive.

Vysic drew the shortest of short straws. He was placed to guard block S, ironic as these were all S class scumbags. While they were all physically weak, they were all rotten to the core. Sex Offenders, Slavers, and Rapists were placed here. 'Luckily' if any of them were deemed to be a threat, they were moved into a higher block, so this block was safe for young adventurers to guard.

'Lucky right?'

That wasn't even the worst of it. The smell here was putrid, not only did it have the ghastly smells of the prison itself, it was accentuated by the smell of mouldy semen, shit, vomit. It guess they never cleaned this place, why bother? These sick fucks would just make it dirty again, and probably enjoy the pained faces of the janitors. Vysic wanted to vomit, but he didn't. He didn't want to give them the satisfaction.

"Never had a vamp before, I heard they like to suck. Come here I've got something for you to suck on.", A prisoner said as he unsheathed his penis.

He then proceeded to jack off, until his penis was fully hard, cheered on by his fellow perverts of course.

"C'mon boy! This dick ain't gonna stay hard forever."

Thats it. I don't care at this point.

Vysic had enough. He held out his palm and began to chant unintelligible words. He bit his right thumb and proceeded to draw on his right palm.

"Hey what's he doing?"

"I don't know but it's getting me hard."

"Comte pine." With that last word, A red bolt darted towards the erect prisoner. Specifically his penis. It became engulfed in a red light that quickly diminished, causing the penis to become small and limp.

"AH MY PENIS YOU CUNT Wait... It feels warm. Ha! You really had me going boy. I thought you were gonna cut of my dick or make it explode. You think making my dick limp would stop me? I look at all these ugly fucks everyday! AHHHH!", The prisoner exclaimed, as he began to jack off again.

And Again.

And Again.

"I can't feel my dick. It won't get up. WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME YOU BITCH", The prisoner screamed as he continued to jack off.

"This can't be happening no no no no no. WHYYYYY.", he cried.

There was no noise. No jeering. Nothing. All the prisoners were shocked, speechless, and scared. All eyes were on Vysic, who weilded a sadistic smile.

"Now then... Who's next."

I picked up my shift after Vysic left, waiting for the prisoners typical 'sexual antics' but today... nothing.

Non of them did anything provocative. They acted like madmen, some comforting themselves, some staying in the cannonball pose rocking back and forth while crying.

It's like they were all broken.

What the hell happened?

Returning to the matter of the task at hand. Numerous reports have been filed as I attempt to sort them into the recent completed reports. Although Iris may have completed a few, I have relieved her of it and picked on her lagging work. I sincerely hope you do not mind me doing such things.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris

Returning to the matter of the task at hand. Numerous reports have been filed as I attempt to sort them into the recent completed reports. Although Iris may have completed a few, I have relieved her of it and picked on her lagging work. I sincerely hope you do not mind me doing such things.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris
"Great work!"

Testing the waters, Iris managed to do decently well with the managing of reports albeit quite slowly though. Well, process is process. It was also a bonus that a clerk was nice enough to be patient with her and taught her some words. Well I guess she didn't finish her job on time but that's fine for her first work.

With that done, it was time for the second office work. Sigh.... dealing with "delinquents". Even in my kingdom those kind of people exist. I guess those people exist no matter the place, what I'm more worried about is how Iris might interact with them. Well I'm observing her anyway just incase.

Ahhh here comes the first "delinquent".

"Oi! What't the meaning of this?!"

He furiously slams his file onto the desk. I simply grab it and read its contents. I furrow my eyebrows instinctively after reading the file. Is he an idiot? He barely mentioned anything in the report, nevermind the penalty he suffered for failing at the task. It's a miracle this is a partial complete rather than a failed quest. Is he expecting a full complete after all that? Sigh... well whatever.

"Sir, the task at hand was barely mentioned onto your report. It was also specified that the guild cart must be returned safely intact or thus a penalty will be put in effect. Result in full complete would be abuse of Guild's integrity with other adventurers such as yourself thus devaluing the trust on people on the guild. It already quite a generous offer for the Guild to offer partial complete despite the penalty, don't you believe so?"

"No... I uhhh... I'll go take another quest."

I followed him with my eyes until he blended with the crowded of adventurers. Sigh..... this really sucks.

"Hey handsome~~~ How you been?~~`"

Great... now a "seducer", well a haggler would be more appropriate but since they're mostly women who try to seduce people to get their way, it's no different from an actual seducer. Let's get this out of the way also.

"Hey~~ Hey~~come on now, isn't this reward a bit too little?"

She says as she sways her body seductively. Her long dress exposes her breasts with a V-shape cut whilst leaning towards the desk, emphasizing her voluptuous front assets. Judging by her numerous accessories, either she's a high class lady or a wealthy adventure, probably the latter considering she's complaining about a report.

Considering the fact that she's trying to allure me, I would've been kicked out of the "Order" during my training if I wasn't as focused on my job.... Ok maybe I'm getting a bit tempted, I am a man after all. Well tensions aside, I still show the same "order" face I wear during a job.

"Madam, all monetary rewards are given as stated on the quest. We do not provide bonus rewards unless specified to do so by the task details. If we ever violate such rules, such act of favoritism will invite the wrath of jealousy. Please understand so."

Unsatisfied with her way not being met, she walked away towards the crowd until I couldn't see her anymore. Meanwhile, I check on Iris who's three counters away from me. She's a bit slow but she somehow manage to appease the rough looking men. Observing them, the men leave while looking at Iris with pity eyes. Huh... didn't expect her to do so well with delinquent looking men.

Most people simply glanced me by to do other stuff, even the ones who obviously look like they have a complaint walked by me. Must be cas of my burly body, I don't exactly the presence of a receptionist so that can't be helped. With the rest of the people taking their complaints to me were pretty common like clients complaining about certain adventurers behavior, or adventurers complaining about clients withholding payments, ok that last part is pretty serious since we are the "Adventurer's Guild".

After amending the five complaints, I check up on Iris once again to see that she is done with her lot. We filed a report and went back to the tavern to eat and rest.

Greetings to you Guild

Delinquent and seducing complains are a plenty in the branch, on my best behalf I have explained so as to stay on course of the pride and rules the guild. May they be appeased with such information from us. Hope our efforts aren't for naught in the order of the Guild.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris

Reciful safely Delivered the first package! Its in a large mansion inside the forest! Soooo many people! Even thought its deep within the forest! Amazing!

Reciful pass the box containing many weapons, gold coins & other stuffs! To the leader person!

For some reason they try to detain Reciful?.. they said things like...

" Hey little want to play with us ehehehe"
" Since you knew our secret method..."
" thanks little girl.. but you won't go anywhere"
" Mind playing with all of us? Ehehehe"
" I'll Rape this loli"
" lets sell her after having fun"

But Reciful is a busy person! Blocking Reciful is a Big No No!, Reciful have no time to play with them!... So Reciful Humbly Persuasive declining to them using Reciful's "voice" & Since Reciful felt bad turning down their playing invitation! Reciful make them play game with Reciful Shadow

I'm sure they have fun! Aha ahahahaha!!

Reciful went from the deep inside the forest to a really large lake!! It sooo beautiful here!! Reciful like this place very much!

Someone is singing, the voice is sooo beautiful! The song came from the lady in middle of the lake, she is dancing while standing in the water Amazing!!!

The singing lady is so beautiful, as if she is the Embodiment of the lake itself which is so serene!. With her long curly blue hair shining in the sunlight, Blue eyes as if gems, & mature beauty.... But Reciful wonder why is she dancing all naked?..

" To think that there will be a day that a Demonic Outer God would come to deliver a package to me?.... The world may perhaps gone insane? "

She said so, as the lady accepted the package from Reciful... Oh right! She asked Reciful to show to her Reciful true form & she did not go mad amazing! Reciful pass the package to her while in true form!!

" Seriously!? How idiotic, useless is that piece of S**t to use mortal organization such as the Adventurer guild to deliver his marriage proposal to me!?!... No mortal can find me no matter what.. that bastard got lucky that you Reciful the one who somehow Delivered it to me or else no one could. "

The lady said so while looking at Reciful direction with pitying eyes. & Said " Sorry Reciful you got dragged by that bastard Idiocracy "

" Anyway for the 110,387th time I decline that asshole marriage proposal.... NEVER OVER MY DEAD BODY.... Mmm there is some kind of tracking spell in this package?.. I can't seems to dispell it, why is that Maggot wasting time on pointless things instead of helping us managing this world as one of the Administrators(Gods)...... Ufufu-ufufufufu... fortunately he is not the only one who got lucky this time "

" Reciful... This package contain harmful contents, I know you oath to protect the package & you did Reciful...BUT!.. Delivering a harmful object may became a fault that lead for you failing your quest?...... So if you don't mind.. will you help me get rid of this? Your the only one who can dispose of this. would you help this lady for the sake of the completion of your quest? "

Reciful gladly destroyed the package from existence!!

Its already afternoon! Reciful went back to the city & onward the the graveyard! Wow there is sooooo many ghost!

Reciful pass the last package to the old man tending the graves.

" Ohohoho... Little girl are you the Deliverer from the guild this time? Despite being so young, you work hard... How admirable of you "

The old man said so... PRAISE Reciful more!!

" I have been protecting this place for the last 40 years as its grave keeper, & every month I never fail to receive a mysterious letters from a unknown sender for the past 40 years at all "

Suddenly the old man started telling a tale.... Reciful wonder why! Perhaps old people likes to talk a lot!

" It all started when my daughter a Adventurer like you...My daughter Olivia died... She meets a unfortunate fate in the hand of Goblins...a horrible fate "

The old man look up in the sky & said so with a gloomy face as he watches the gently passing afternoon clouds

" I lost the will to live after that incident & continue doing my work automatically... Then a month after that Letters of unknown sender suddenly comes... The letter does not contain any words at all but somehow they felt nostalgic & it keep me from killing myself... This letter help me hold on for the past 40 yrs... That's why little girl thank you for Delivering this to me... Im really really grateful "

Hmph praise Reciful more!!!

Reciful went home after that...

But.. Reciful wonder if Reciful should have told the old grave keeper? Reciful can see Many thing that cannot be perceived by others, so Reciful see it full well...Reciful knew where those letter came from..

Behind the old man a blond haired woman with white wings is hugging him. She thanked Reciful for Delivering her letter to her father.

Yes!! Praise Reciful More!!!

Signed: Reciful the Eldritch Abomination

After the rather intense and exhausting last few quests, I pick something that should be easier. The goblin subjugation should be easy - what can those tiny creatures do? It's a bit of a shame that my brass knuckles got destroyed in the last quest, but that was just a minor miscalculation. Nothing that really matters.

I pick up my equipment again and start moving north to the forest. While goblins seem to be essentially everywhere, they are quite common in the forest - at least according to statistics. As I walk along the road, I feel exalted - having deceived a whole criminal gang, playing them like puppets. Dignified I march on, a noticeable but subdued skip in my step that perfectly accentuates my noble nature and happiness.

2 hours and 42 minutes after leaving the City I arrive at the forest. A quick scan of the area doesn't reveal any traces of goblin activity, so I head deeper inside. Merely 4 minutes and 11 seconds later, I notice a goblinoid footprint in the mud. It does not seem to be very old, so there must be at least one goblin nearby. I let my gaze swerve around to check for traps or ambushes, but don't see anything, so I follow the footstep.

It seems this goblin is decent at hiding its tracks, as following it proves a challenge. However, with its meager skill, it never stood a chance at escaping my senses. 3 minutes and 49 seconds later, I can see the goblin's back. The goblin is hunched over, probably carrying something as it sneaks through the forest. I simply take my bar of iron and walking stick and transmute them into a spear. With the length of this weapon, a goblin without a ranged weapon doesn't even have the chance of injuring me.

With the spear readied, I charge at the goblin. Hearing my steps it turns around, but I am already too close for it to react properly. I impale its chest with my spear, the momentum of my charge driving the entire tip into the goblin's body. With a dismissive kick, I push it off the spear and watch its dying breaths from a safe distance. I also take this time to observe what exactly it was carrying. Something bundled up in cloth, as far as I can tell.

As the goblin finally dies its arm grows weak, allowing the bundle to roll off the corpse. The contents surprise me - it is a goblin child. A pleasant surprise. I drive my spear through its weak skull, instantly killing it before I harvest the ears of both goblins. That's 2 of 3 pairs. Time to resume my search.

14 minutes and 31 seconds later, I chance upon a group of 2 goblins. Probably a group of scouts. After analyzing the route they are likely going to take, I hide behind a tree they are going to pass and wait patiently as their steps grow closer, calculating their distance from me with the noise their steps make. Once they are directly next to the tree I step out and thrust the spear into the neck of a goblin, giving it a mortal wound.

But this time, I see an unpleasant surprise. A group of 14 goblins appears in my field of view, taking the same path as the scouts. I would like to say that I heroically fight them and win. However, I simply yank back my spear, rip the ears off the corpse that is falling towards me, and start running towards the city while safely stashing the ears in a pocket.

As I run, I notice additional goblin reinforcements trying to cut off my path to the city. A rough calculation of our speed shows me that I'm not making it out that way. Using the next tree as a jumping pad, I start to change the direction I run towards to the left while keeping most of my speed, rushing off towards the river.

4 minutes and 22 seconds later I reach the river, the surprisingly fast goblins right on my heels. I leap, cancel the transmutation while I'm in the air and hold on tight to my iron and stick as I plummet into the water, quickly sinking low due to the additional weight of the iron bar. As the current carries me on I slowly sink lower and lower while keeping an attentive eye out for any goblins that might jump in as well.

But luck seems to be on my side as they seem to follow the river while waiting for me to resurface. Fools. I don't even need to breathe. As I reach the bottom of the river I simply start marching onward while determining my current position with the bends the river takes. After exactly 1 hour of marching, I resurface, the goblins long gone. From then on it is a relaxing walk of 1 hour and 18 minutes until I arrive at the city and deliver the ears along with my report.

I should use the river as a means of transportation more often in the future. Makes things faster.

  • Exterminate slimes in Scribel City.
  • Collect 10 slime cores.
Slimes are a pest in Scribel City, and they end up in all sorts of weird places.
While they aren’t too dangerous, they can slowly erode and damage structures over time.
They also spread diseases if they get into the sewers and pick up icky stuff.
Slimes are bad! Eliminating them is a public health campaign!

~~~Me and Gobo scoured and searched the market area today, for slimes. We only found 3 near general store and 2 near the grocery store. After, we started asking nearby citizens if they had seen any nearby slimes that needed to by subjugated. Luckily we had a few people ask for our help and led us to their houses, we found our next slime's 4 this way. While collecting slimes cores, we started to notice that a few more slimes then usually were actual trying to get into the sewers. We successfully acquired 6 slime cores from waiting nearby the sewers entrance and waiting for slimes to come to us. It looks like something is going on with the sewers, hopefully you send someone to figure it out. Also hopefully it wouldn't be to consequence that I will be keeping the extra 5 slime cores for my own experiments.
End Report ~~~
Me and Gobo wake up and go down the tavern to have ourselves breakfast. We have usually rowdy crowd of people, but it started feeling the norm, I guess. We eventually set off towards the Adventurers Guild, still deciding on what to choose today. I wouldn't want to go through what we went through near the Twin-Flower field again. Me and Gobo enter the Adventurer Guild and start searching for a quest and asking the receptionist for any help that she could give us. With the help of receptionist, we decided on to take the Slime Subjugation quest. It was easy enough for new adventure and it helped with new one's get acclimated to fighting monsters. The only thing we needed to do this quest now is a weapon for Gobo and asked the receptionist to mark our map where the local blacksmith was located at. With that we set-off to the local blacksmith, hopefully to find something for Gobo in return.
We get to the blacksmith and set our eyes on the new shiny weapons on sale. However we also see the prices of these new weapons, something we couldn't afford to buy with our current gold. We try to ask the staff if they had anything cheaper for sell, but unfortunately he told us they just melted down must of there chipped and broken weapons today and too try again later. Me and Gobo left saddened. I had to think of somewhere else where we could acquire Gobo a good piece of equipment for cheap."Hmm...Genial should know". We set off too Genial's store, in hopes that he could help us. Even may be today I had to use that favor card for something today.
"HAHA, the famous duo of Plant and Goblin, what do I owe on this arrival" Genial pronounces throughout the store. I tell of him our problem about Gobo needing a weapon for quest. We see Genial think for a second. "Ah! An easy problem for I the Genial!". He ask if I still had that favor card he gave to us, I answered yes. "Yes just for that favor card I could help you acquire a weapon. Even a Shield!" Genial explained. I answered as fast as I could with Light and let Gobo take out the Favor Card and give it Genial. We saw Genial take the card and go into the back of the store for a while. When he came out, he brought out a smaller then usual buckler with a very short sword carrying it. "Yes the finest should for our duo!". We gladly accepted the small buckler and sword, Gobo the most excited. "Thank you Genial" I wrote out. While Genial had to go too take care of something else, Gobo tried on it's new equipment. Gobo equipment was a perfect fit... almost too perfect? I asked a nearby staff member, on why Genial had a set of of very small shield and sword. The staff explained that Genial once had a failed sales pitch about smaller equipment and about how cheaper it would be to buy and maintain. The one's we had were some of the leftover product he had laying around. Gobo and I were gobsmacked. Well.... At least it fits Gobo fine I guess. Now that we have everything prepared, it was time to start our Slime Subjugation quest!
As were about to leave for Genial's store, a staff memeber got our attention and saw our conversation about our quest with Genial. He explain that a couple of slimes were making a problem for the store and asked if we could take of out it, I answered immediately that we could. The staff member led us towards the back of the building and there we saw 3 slimes just lodging around some boxes covered up. I tell the staff member to go back inside the store and Gobo to wait for me to grab the slime's attention with my Light Magic, so that Gobo could go for the finishing blow. Gobo places me on a nearby box and hides in wait. We being and I try to hit the closest slime as hard as I can with a Whip of Light I conjured up. As I imagined, my attack did to little nothing damage, but at least it got the attention of the slime. The first slime started crawling it's way towards me , just as I wanted. It was getting closer and closer to me, but near Gobo's hiding spot as well. Finally it was close enough, Gobo emerged from his hiding spot and stabbed toward the slime. The shocked slime couldn't react in-time and fell before it could retaliate. It was I and Gobo's first kill. Now we just had to do the same thing 2 more times.
We walk back to the store and show the staff member 3 cores we acquired from the slimes at the back. The staff member thanks us and we set off to find more slimes. I thought that since Genial had slimes may be some other stores had the same problems, so I started walking among the market street and talking to some of the store's staff member to see if they need any help with slimes. Cecila's store had 2 slime and we cleared those out easily, but that was the only store that had any problems. So it was off to look somewhere else for slime cores.
I decided to look around the residential area of the town, to see if any civilians have seen or need help with their slime problems. We walked too the big plaza of the residential area. We notice that people are still weary of Gobo and I, so I told Gobo to take out my Adventurer's Guild Card. I held my Guild Card with Light and also wrote in the air "Helping with slime trouble's. BigGreen&Gobo". We still didn't get any request from the civilians, but at least they weren't that weary from us now. "Hey, Mr. Plant!" a little girl shouted. I saw the little girl and wrote out if she needed any help with dealing with slimes. "Yes! My mommy has been trying to get rid of the slime in our house". I say to her that we could help and eventually she leads us to her house. Her mother's shock when she saw her daughter leading along a goblin holding a plant was quite something. The little girl and I eventually tell her mother that I am here to eliminate her slime problem. The mother leads me too her backyard, showing us a slime crawling just on the shingles of the house. She tells me she has no way to get it down and it has been up there all morning. I tell the mother and daughter to go back in the house and me and Gobo will take care of it. I tell Gobo to get into position and start hiding nearby. When I notice that Gobo is in place, I start to form a bubble of Light around the slime and try to drag it down from the roof. It was quite hard to just try to move the slime, but eventually it falls from the roof. Gobo easily attacks and finishes off the stunned slime and we acquire another slime core. We go back to the front of the house and show them the slime core. "Thank you both for the help and thankfully it wasn't a sewer slime" the mother sighed. We set off to the residential plaza again and try too see if we could help any citizens again. We still had troubles, but however thanks to a little girls enthusiasm about Mr.Plant and Gobo being good people. A few people finally came by about there slime troubles and we eventually acquired another 3 slime cores. We waited at the plaza a little bit longer, but it seemed that no one else needed help. So me and Gobo left to look elsewhere, we also thanked the little girl for the help and told her to get home safely.
I noticed that the people we helped with their slime trouble's always expressed their concerns about slimes about sewers. So I suggested to Gobo that we go and check near the entrance of the Sewers to see if we could get our last slime core near there. I check our map and eventually arrive at the sewer entrance. To our surprise we already see a slime trying to crawl into the sewer entrance. I tell Gobo to do our usual Slime Procedure and to let Gobo hide first. However this time, when I tried to get it's attention with my Light Whip. It didn't bother with me and kept it's slow crawl towards the sewer entrance. We needed a new plan to deal with slime. I told Gobo to get ready to Shield Bash the slime to stun it and then I would try to hold it down with my Light magic, so that Gobo could go for the finishing blow. "1...2...3 GO!". Gobo leapt from his hiding spot and bashed his shield against the slime. The slime got tossed and slammed against the nearby sewer entrance wall and I cast light to try and bind the slime as much as I could. Gobo quickly slashes and kills the slime successfully. "Good job Gobo". We finally have our 10 slime cores, but before our celebration we noticed another slime coming towards the sewer entrance. I guessed that we even though we finished the quest, we might as well deal with the problems. Also I remembered that receptionist talk about how twin-flowers and slime cores were a base of healing potions. I might as well pick a few up for myself and see if i could make something as well. Me and Gobo go with our #2 Slime combo and deal with another 5 slimes and acquire 5 more slime cores. We eventually don't see anymore slimes come towards the sewer entrance, so I decided to was time to return back to the Adventurer's Guild.
We get the Adventurer's Guild and turn in our quest successfully, we also explain the odd situation about the sewer entrance. The receptionist takes note of the strange occurrence and we leave for the Tavern. We finally get a time to rest and fill our stomachs. After dinner we pay Pierre for today's Room and Board and head up to our room. Gobo take's off his new equipment slowly, not wanting to mess it up more then today. I tell Gobo to take a good rest today because tomorrow we will try the Slime Subjugation again. Gobo is quite excited by this and quickly falls asleep on the bed. I look out the window and fall to asleep thinking about tomorrow's adventure.
Quest Report - verified
It was the next night after Liana had revealed her...dietary requirements to Hejlikka and Julrik. After the hugging session had concluded, the female elf had dragged the new-born vampire to the house and immediately started cleaning the ground floor bedroom and making the bed for her new housemate. It was almost dawn when the work was done, and they both went to sleep so they could be refreshed for the next night's work.
Entering the guild building, Liana went to the desk and asked for permission to do the Tax collection job - by recommendation of Hejlikka. She'd told her that it would be a good way to see more of the city while learning about the different kinds of people who lived in it.
"Here you go." The receptionist handed a sheet of paper that held the requirements for the quest:
Tax Collection
  • Sponsor: Adventurer's Guild
  • Location: Scribel Region
  • Required Level: 3
Objectives:
  • Prerequisite: Customer Service Department
  • Visit 5 individuals with overdue taxes.
  • Collect the tax payment.
  • Perform a satisfactory job.
The Adventurer's Guild receives its funding from taxpayer money.Unfortunately, some citizens are known to be always late with payments.Visit them — wherever they might be — and demand payment.Please don't actually hurt anyone. We're not gangsters. Rewards:
  • Points: 125 EXP
  • Money: 10 G
  • Other: n/a
"Here's a list of the people who need the most urgent attention."
"Thank you!" Liana smiled gently as she took the papers.
"Ah, this is also to help show proof of you working for the guild in case anyone questions your authority." The receptionist handed a signed certificate detailing the level of authority Liana would have while doing the task.
"Again, thank you."
"Don't mention it. It's my job, after all." The receptionist smiled before looking to the next customer.
Leaving the desk, Liana read through the list of people she needed to visit before looking at the map the receptionist provided to show the locations of each client. Seeing that the closest client was only a few streets away from the guild, Liana headed that way first; her wine bottle left in the house for safe keeping. Reaching the building with a modest appearance, Liana knocked on the door of her first client.
The door swung open after a minute of silence, where a tall and burly man covered in soot stood before Liana with an annoyed expression. "What do you want?" He asked.
Smiling gently, Liana replied while holding out her certificate and task details: "I'm running errands for the Adventurer's Guild and was tasked with collecting overdue taxes." She showed an embarrassed smile as she continued, "I'm afraid...your name was on the list, Blacksmith Arron, sir."
The man rubbed his chin as he thought about what he'd heard, before saying, "Hold on while I check my account books." After a few minutes, he returned while carrying a plain book full of numbers. Flicking through the pages, he found what he was looking for and shook his head, before showing Liana. "You see, I'm a little confused, Miss. As you can see, someone came to collect my taxes three weeks ago and I rightly went and paid her."
"Eh...?" Liana showed a surprised expression, as she read the account book and - indeed - the writing clearly stated he'd paid a tax collector at the usual time. Feeling unsure of what to do, Liana wryly smiled before asking, "Could you tell me who this tax collector was? Or what she looked like, Mr Arron?"
Arron frowned at this, clearly frustrated with this situation, before thinking about that time before blushing a little, "Ah...it was a really pretty half-elf. Really big bangers and some really plump-looking lips. Hehe, she even kissed my cheek after I paid her the taxes, too."
"Oh? Did you happen to get her name at all? If this is really the case, then the guild will need to look into who came here so they can figure out why you were listed as overdue."
The burly man thought about it some more while sweating a bit - seemingly getting nervous about this odd situation. "Um...I kind of don't really remember her name...I wasn't really listening to her introduction at the time..." He blushed even more as he recalled how he was too busy focusing on the half-elf's chest when he saw her.
"...I see..." Liana looked despondent over this, before looking at the account book and having a thought, "Um...is it okay if I borrow your account book to show the guild? This case is really too strange and an investigation will need to be made; with this evidence, you'll not be in such a sticky situation..."
The blacksmith hung his head as he realised how much trouble he might get into if he was accused of evading taxes, and so handed the account book to the young woman while apologising.
"It's not your fault, sir. There must be a logical explanation for all of this! I'll not disturb your evening any longer than I have. Bye!" She then left while waving at the man, trying to show a sincere smile in a bid to make him feel reassured that this problem would be sorted out.
Carrying the account book in her arms, along with the papers, Liana looked at the list for the next client and headed for the noble district. Upon reaching the mansion that the client lived in, she was halted by the guards at the gate.
"Halt! What business do you have here?" One of the guards asked with a stern expression.
Liana smiled gently as she held out the task and certificate, "I was sent by the Adventurer Guild to collect overdue taxes. The list they provided has Lord Borcroft on it."
The guards looked at the documents before glancing at one another. One of them nodded to the other, who then left through the gate and headed for the mansion. "Wait while we inform the lord of your arrival, Miss."
"Of course." She smiled in compliance.
Ten minutes later the guard returned and whispered in the other guard's ear before looking at Liana. "The Lord will see you. Follow me." He then led the way, not waiting to see if Liana was following, or not.
In a modestly furnished room, Liana was offered a seat before Lord Borcroft entered with an embarrassed expression. "I am so sorry for keeping you waiting, I was having a meeting with the heads of staff about things that needed my attention." He held out his hand to offer a handshake, before gently kissing the back of Liana's hand. He sat down at his desk and smiled while looking at Liana, "I hear I've been a naughty man and forgotten to pay my taxes."
"Ah, yes...At least, that's what this list has told me, sir."
"Then, please, allow me check my account books in order to make doubly sure."
"Of course, sir. I wouldn't wish for you to suffer a mistake in administration."
"Thank you." Lord Borcroft smiled gently before motioning for his servant to collect the necessary documents.
After waiting a few minutes, the servant returned while carrying several thick books. Placing them on the desk, he took one from the pile and set it in front of his master. Nodding to and thanking the servant, the lord opened the book and began flicking to the month when the taxes should have been paid. Finding the correct page, he looked up and looked embarrassed.
"My deepest apologies, Miss. I really did forget to pay the taxes. I'd been so busy that month that it completely slipped my mind. Gerald!"
"Yes, my Lord?" The servant responded.
Lord Borcroft wrote on a piece of paper and signed it, before handing it to the servant, "Take this to the treasurer and tell them to withdraw the amount on here and send it to me at once, please."
"Of course, my Lord." The servant bowed before leaving the room.
"Ah, where have my manners gone! You've been sitting here for so long and I haven't even offered you refreshments!"
"Ah...there's really no need, sir." Liana wryly smiled at the thought of food and drink being offered, "I'm not hungry or thirsty, so you don't need to go to the effort." She smiled gently.
"If you say so, Miss. Though...do tell me if you change your mind."
"Of course, sir."
After twenty minutes of waiting, with some light conversation between the two, the servant eventually returned with a large bag full of money.
"Ah, here it is! Thank you, Gerald."
"Not at all, my Lord."
Handing the bag to Liana, Lord Borcroft insisted on her counting the money out to ensure it was all there before escorting her to the gate himself. "Please, if you ever need help with anything in the future, don't hesitate to ask. Although my fellow nobles seem to be more inclined to deepen their own pockets, I prefer to try and better everyone's lives."
"Thank you, sir. I'll be sure to keep your kindness in mind." Liana smiled back before leaving through the gate. Checking the list for the next location, Liana lugged the bag of money in her arms along with the account book, wondering if she should get a bag for carrying things in the future or not...
Reaching her next destination, she found herself outside another modest-looking building. The only problem with it was that the door was off its hinges, the windows were messed up, and there was a clear layer of dust covering the surfaces inside.
"..."
Stepping inside after knocking the door for several minutes, Liana searched the building for any clues as to where the owner could be. Every room had furniture overturned, with muddy footprints all over the floor as if a fight had broken out at some point in this place. After being in every room - which was a total of three - Liana couldn't find any hints as to where the owner was. Leaving the house, she looked for any neighbours in the area and suddenly realised that the street was exceptionally quiet with not a single person to be found.
"..."
Not feeling comfortable about this, Liana knocked on all of the unhinged doors of every house on the street and found the same scene as the client's home. With a chill creeping over her, Liana didn't want to stay in the area any more and so ran away but not before finding a necklace with a strange dragon-claw emblem on it hidden behind one of the doors. Picking it up, she placed it inside the bag of money and planned on informing the guild about it when she wrote her report.
Seeing that she couldn't collect the overdue taxes from this person, Liana internally wrote a question mark next to their name (Clarence Hackley) on the list before going towards the slum area for the last two people. As she walked to the location on the map, Liana felt like the area looked familiar but didn't know why. Reaching the shack that was the home of her fourth client, she was about to knock on the door when it opened and a scruffy-looking man stepped out with a spring in his step while fastening the front of his bottoms.
"..."
"???" The man paused when he noticed Liana, before shouting over his shoulder to the inside, "Ling Ling! Yer've goranuva cust'mer! Di'n' know yer wen' fer women too!" He then greedily looked at Liana's body and bag of money before leaving.
"Wha' ya goin' on abah'?" A skinny, middle-aged woman came out with messy hair and a revealing outfit; some old and new white stains could be seen on the top parts of her skirt. The woman saw Liana, the bag of money and what looked like an account book and grimaced. "Ah...ya one o' them tax collectors?"
Liana smiled gently while looking embarrassed, before replying, "Yes, I was sent here to collect overdue taxes by the Adventurer Guild."
Ling Ling stuck her finger in her mouth absentmindedly and pulled out some short hairs from her teeth and tongue, "Uh-huh, so?"
"Unfortunately, your name was on the list of people I was given..." Liana glanced sideways in embarrassment, "It would be much appreciated if we could settle this amicably, Miss Ling Ling..."
The woman stared at Liana with her arms crossed for a few seconds, before sighing in annoyance and pulling out a bag of coins from her cleavage and throwing it at the young woman's face. "Yer in luck tha'rah jus' took in some extra clien's terday. There's tha money! Nah scram!" She slammed the rickety door drawing the ire of some of the neighbours who overheard the conversation.
Smiling wryly, Liana picked up the small bag of money and checked its contents to make sure it was the right amount, before putting the bag inside the larger bag to make it easier to carry. Checking the location for the last house and seeing it was quite literally opposite Ling Ling's, Liana sighed internally before moving over and knocking on the door.
"..."
There was no response for quite a few minutes, so she knocked again and got the same result. As she was lifting her hand to knock for the third time, a malnourished kid wearing hardly anything shouted over, "They lef' tha city a foo days ago cos they ran ou' ov money and got evicted by the Crimson Coins!"
"Eh...?" Liana turned to look at the kid and felt like he seemed familiar to someone but wasn't too sure, "What are the Crimson Coins?"
"They only rule tha bloomin' place aroun'ere! Lady, ya bes' be leavin'ere if ya don' wan' tha Crimson Coins comin'ere ta deal wi' ya!" The kid then ran off to another dilapidated shack where a familiar weary-looking muscled man picked him up and took him inside.
"..."
Realising that she couldn't do much about this client either, Liana took heed of the advice the kid had given and headed back to the guild.
Finishing up her quest report, she handed it in to the receptionist along with all of the items - being sure to separate them from each other to avoid mixing them up.
- Handed in Blacksmith Arron's account book detailing the transactions dealt within the year - showing he'd paid his taxes
- Handed in Lord Borcroft's overdue tax money
- Handed in necklace with a dragon-claw emblem from third location
**********
For the first time in months, Felicia decided to take a trip back to Scribel. Although a little fed up with the dreary lifestyle in the mountains, where the pressure of war and death was ever present, the main reason she decided to head back was for Sable. It wasn't fair for her to be caged up all the time, she wanted her to be able to fly freely in the skies. There were some things she wanted to deal with back in the region anyway, as there had been recent rumours of rising gangs and organizations that she felt she should take a look at.
The wind rushed past invigoratingly as she rode atop Sable's back, flying freely in the clouds above Gelderholm. After playing around a bit and doing barrel rolls, the pair finally swerved down the mountains, towards the primarily grassland region that was Scribel. Although they were much faster flying through the air, they still had to camp in forests and the like for a few days before reaching the nostalgic city.
Scribel looked exactly the same as she remembered; quaint and peaceful, a stark contrast to Gelderholm. After spending half a day hunting with Sable and visiting Folke's family, she felt it was time to take a look at the newer quests in the tavern. After scanning through the guild-sponsored quests, and noting down the Slumber Jelly quest for later, a quest sponsored by an old acquaintance, the 'head' of the community service department here in Scribel, Julrik, caught her eye.
He's got himself in trouble once again huh. Felicia thought wryly as she remembered the friendly personality and fondness of women that fellow had. But, she did owe him a favour, and since no one had taken even one of the duels on his behalf, she decided the least she could do was help him out a bit. And before anyone gets any wild ideas, the favour she owed him was not promiscuous in any way, he simply took her to an expensive restaurant a while back. That was all. It's not like Felicia would have let him do anything anyway.
After scanning the list for an appropriate sparring partner, whilst deciding to abandon the optional reward of humiliating her opponent unless he deserved it, she randomly picked the elf archer since he didn't seem too hard to deal with. Naturally, he must have his ways to keep his distance from his opponents, but for an all rounder who prioritized swift melee attacks like herself she didn't think he'd be much trouble. Since he only recently achieved rank E, she had even less to worry about, as she was slowly approaching her rank D exam. Finalizing the quest application process, she leisurely spent the next few days relaxing in Scribel before her duel.
...
Donned in her usual leather armour and dark robes, Felicia stood with her blade unsheathed as she stared unwaveringly at her opponent. A tall elf wearing glasses glared vengefully back, his long angelic golden hair weaving through the evening breeze. His amber eyes blazed murkily with confusion, hatred and sorrow, and his bloodthirst seemed to falter as he looked at his opponent.
"..why do you defend him?" He hissed between gritted teeth.
"Because I owe him a favour." Felicia gazed back calmly, having already prepared herself for the mess of emotions her opponent would be in.
"He took the love of my life away from me! How can you stand on his side and not mine?!" He snapped, drawing his enchanted silverwood bow and aiming towards her head.
"Julrik does not steal, he takes what is not loyal and true." She responded icily with what she personally grew to know of the man. Although he may seem pushy and frivolous in his seduction, he knows when to not push any further. Afterall, that's why she wasn't assaulted that day in the restaurant despite being rather weak at that time.
Seemingly hitting his sore spot, he widened his eyes in rage and released the arrow, which was easily sidestepped by just stepping away.
"Why aren't you trying to kill me?" Felicia responded after a slight pause, severely doubting that all this rank E archer could do was send out a normal arrow.
"Hah.." He was once again shaken by her words, trembling before dropping his bow in exasperation. "I surrender. I haven't lost reason enough to kill everyone that gets in the way of my revenge. I just wanted to vent really." He sighed as his eyes wandered somewhere far away.
"Well you can vent right now, just without the killing part." Felicia offered, still just as ready for combat as she was when she first saw him. To be honest, she was a little miffed, she came here expecting a fun duel, not a heart to heart discussion!
"Haha, you're just like her, always wanting to get straight to the point without any dilly-dallying." He laughed wistfully as he moved his gaze towards her and away from the clouds. After a contemplative silence, he opened his mouth again.
"Say, would you be willing to go on a da-"
"Denied."
Mercilessly, she cut him off and walked away to make her report. She'd just have to unleash her frustrations when hunting with Sable later, damn, what a waste of her time...
'I'll admit this; I might have gotten a bit reckless during the operation. I'm also not very good with writing with my left hand, so this report will be shorter than usual. Oh, I didn't break my right arm, in case anyone's asking, but uh---well, I'm prohibited from using it until tomorrow. Standard procedure, but I'm going off the track here.
So, the last time I went down to fix the flood walls in the tunnels, and some idiot blew up part of the railway with a firebomb, but there wasn't any really lasting consequences...was what we figured at the time. Wishful thinking, really. Like, wanna take a gander on why there was a rock slide today of all days? First three guesses don't count.
So me and a whole unit of dwarves ended up revisiting the place I went to previously, taking the same rails using the same carts to reach the same hole---actually, they patched that up already, but that particular tunnel rail was sealed off until repairs were completely done. Although the rock slide happened even deeper in, so we got out at that point and swapped rails.
Monsters along the way? Yeah, same old kobolds up to no good whatsoever. I borrowed a working crossbow and took some potshots at the dark as soon as something that definitely wasn't a dwarf poked it's head out. Suffice to say my accuracy wasn't perfect, but I had practice with the Remington, so I managed to hit something most of the time. Otherwise, however, the trip down didn't meet too much resistance.
The rock slide wasn't that bad either; we started removing rocks from the top to clear out a path to crawl through, at least, although occasionally there would be a shout as someone found a dwarf amidst the rubble and the deconstruction work would pause while they figured out how to get them out. As for me, I stopped moving rubble and crawled over to look for the soldiers stuck on the other side as soon as the hole was large enough.
Whoever was commanding that brigade, nice one. An artificial chokepoint made of overturned minecarts stacked together gave them just the delaying time they needed for rescue to arrive. I joined in, substituting for one of the front liners who retreated temporarily for a short break, and that's how we held out long enough for the rockslide to be mostly cleared, and the dwarves I travelled down with also joined in and we slowly whittled down the numbers.
It was looking pretty good until a stray firebomb blew apart the stacked minecarts, allowing the monsters to flood in at regular volume, so on instinct I ended up firing an Origium Round into the ceiling. That section of the tunnel caved in and ended up burying most of the monsters, while the survivors got mopped up by the dwarves.
On the bright side, nobody died and we made it in time (barely).
On the not-so-bright side, there was now a new rock slide in front of us, but hey, at least the stranded dwarves all got rescued, right?
...It's quite embarrassing, having to be carried back to the city since I temporarily lost the feeling in my arms and legs. Also, I'm not looking forward to the migraine that I'll probably get tomorrow, but that's the price of power. And somehow, my gut feeling tells me that I'll get used to it in future, and that's not good news.'
Testing the waters, Iris managed to do decently well with the managing of reports albeit quite slowly though. Well, process is process. It was also a bonus that a clerk was nice enough to be patient with her and taught her some words. Well I guess she didn't finish her job on time but that's fine for her first work.
With that done, it was time for the second office work. Sigh.... dealing with "delinquents". Even in my kingdom those kind of people exist. I guess those people exist no matter the place, what I'm more worried about is how Iris might interact with them. Well I'm observing her anyway just incase.
Ahhh here comes the first "delinquent".
"Oi! What't the meaning of this?!"
He furiously slams his file onto the desk. I simply grab it and read its contents. I furrow my eyebrows instinctively after reading the file. Is he an idiot? He barely mentioned anything in the report, nevermind the penalty he suffered for failing at the task. It's a miracle this is a partial complete rather than a failed quest. Is he expecting a full complete after all that? Sigh... well whatever.
"Sir, the task at hand was barely mentioned onto your report. It was also specified that the guild cart must be returned safely intact or thus a penalty will be put in effect. Result in full complete would be abuse of Guild's integrity with other adventurers such as yourself thus devaluing the trust on people on the guild. It already quite a generous offer for the Guild to offer partial complete despite the penalty, don't you believe so?"
"No... I uhhh... I'll go take another quest."
I followed him with my eyes until he blended with the crowded of adventurers. Sigh..... this really sucks.
"Hey handsome~~~ How you been?~~`"
Great... now a "seducer", well a haggler would be more appropriate but since they're mostly women who try to seduce people to get their way, it's no different from an actual seducer. Let's get this out of the way also.
"Hey~~ Hey~~come on now, isn't this reward a bit too little?"
She says as she sways her body seductively. Her long dress exposes her breasts with a V-shape cut whilst leaning towards the desk, emphasizing her voluptuous front assets. Judging by her numerous accessories, either she's a high class lady or a wealthy adventure, probably the latter considering she's complaining about a report.
Considering the fact that she's trying to allure me, I would've been kicked out of the "Order" during my training if I wasn't as focused on my job.... Ok maybe I'm getting a bit tempted, I am a man after all. Well tensions aside, I still show the same "order" face I wear during a job.
"Madam, all monetary rewards are given as stated on the quest. We do not provide bonus rewards unless specified to do so by the task details. If we ever violate such rules, such act of favoritism will invite the wrath of jealousy. Please understand so."
Unsatisfied with her way not being met, she walked away towards the crowd until I couldn't see her anymore. Meanwhile, I check on Iris who's three counters away from me. She's a bit slow but she somehow manage to appease the rough looking men. Observing them, the men leave while looking at Iris with pity eyes. Huh... didn't expect her to do so well with delinquent looking men.
Most people simply glanced me by to do other stuff, even the ones who obviously look like they have a complaint walked by me. Must be cas of my burly body, I don't exactly the presence of a receptionist so that can't be helped. With the rest of the people taking their complaints to me were pretty common like clients complaining about certain adventurers behavior, or adventurers complaining about clients withholding payments, ok that last part is pretty serious since we are the "Adventurer's Guild".
After amending the five complaints, I check up on Iris once again to see that she is done with her lot. We filed a report and went back to the tavern to eat and rest.
Greetings to you Guild
Delinquent and seducing complains are a plenty in the branch, on my best behalf I have explained so as to stay on course of the pride and rules the guild. May they be appeased with such information from us. Hope our efforts aren't for naught in the order of the Guild.
At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris
