Writing Have you ever written a character that you started off loving but grew to hate?

For example, I had two characters that I really enjoyed writing. However, as the story progressed, I started to dislike the characters. The problem is I can't kill off either of the characters because I wrote one as an immortal and the other literally holds the entire universe together; it would absolutely destroy the plot. I don't know if this is normal for authors to change their views on a character that they are or have written.

Sort of.

It's often when you are writing a story and you go, I need to get to X. To get to X, A, B, and C must happen. These are often bad things, because a story without conflict, is like looking in the sears catalog for fap material when someone tore out The woman's underwear section.

It's the only reason anyone ever opened the damn thing.

So you have a character that sucks, because he must. The story demands it. Logic demands it. The plot demands it.

And I HATE being told what to do.
