An anthology of stories where young girls get "chosen" by an allmighty water goddess with her own home dimension and tabs on different worlds inthe multiverse to become her angels. (She's less of a regular goddess and more of a general principle in the multiverse so even other gods almost fear her involvement.
The thing is, she has the rule that she can only transform a girl if she gets a "Yes" from them. And so she uses her omnipotent wisdom to set them up, usually omitting a great deal of what they're getting into.
The thing is, aside from debatable stuff like absolute immortality the transformation isn't depicted positive. The girls, depending from the case under heavy pain, slowly liquify. In the end they're perfect water elementals who only after serious training can even touch stuff again not to speak of making the illusion of a human body. Aside from dull touch or general knowledge of temperature they don't feel pain, hunger, or anything that could be remotely uncomfortable, but point is they simply don't feel more than this and lack sensations (as I said not just positive).
While the goddess at least tries to find the right ones and make them comfortable those (per se good) characters often end up with smaller quirks and stuff to get them through the centuries. Which is peculiar as they have powers coming directly from said goddess. They could drown worlds if they'd want or worse. And since the goddess is as well not the most integer character this leads to interesting dynamics between the characters when they treat their defacto mother (that's her view) as a big child. She makes a habit of hiving them angel names and only using those for her "daughters", not minding if they use their old ones.
So in general Io would first stalk the girl for a while, then in disguise come close with them and eventually offer a "simple" solution out of their peculiar circumstances (It'll often be far more complex than this).
One of my more elaborate stories involves a young child (around 7) whose mother died in plague times. She just wants to die in her mother's arms in their bed but suddenly there's this annoying woman in their room who pesters her. Io will before this secretly have summoned the mother's soul (in a mind subspace) to talk her into giving her approval (since even with her arbitrary rules age of consent is a bit strained here). She's a good talker with the beginning of time as expeirience if she wants (though changing like water she can also be a helpless child (one of the reasons gods hate her, you never now what you've got with her). After this, she pesters the girl the same way and eventually convinces her to leave with her and trust her existence to her (as I said she omits parts). The guards at the gates of the plague district weirdly don't even notice them. Then after a final confirmation if she's "ready to bind herself to her" (she makes it sound like a quirk of speech here) she secretly infects her with a single drop of her essence (a kiss is the usual contract method but as she was too young it was only on the forehead and flows through the eyes inside) which is enough to turn her over time (she's trying to improve the process to be nicer so this version makes slow and steady). And then in a first display of power she opens a portal straight to her home dimension where she's going to provide everything for her.
The already existing water angels have all their own idea of dealing with the situation (I think that's a good way to introduce them and raise interest for their peculiar own stories leading them here. Especially from her administrator she first hears amouthful that she's the most irresponsible goddess in existence. At the same time they naturally try to be friendly to the girl, knowing what she's going to go through but that one is at this point completely overwhelmed. Shenanigans happen till some time after the transformation. Since that one stops growth also mentally she's going to stay a child but can put life experience against this. Eventually she visits her home dimension to visit her reincarnated mother.
Though this much for Ibiri (angel name).
Title would be Io's curse. Angels are around 26 in total.
Yet as I'm currently completely occupied with my three monster girl stories I doubt I'll find time to write this in detail.
