Tentative title: the Demon King's core exists under my house (first chapter)

Twenty-five years ago, the heroes led their party and succeed in slaying the Demon King.

Nevertheless, the truth was obscured from the masses.

Just before landing the final blow, the Demon King burned his entire lifeforce and sent his core to another world.

"Mark my words, I will return this humiliation many times!"

Until this day, the Heroes still tried to find ways to locate the Demon King's core and bring end to everything. Twenty-five years passed to no avail and it was eating at their sanity.

Little did they knew, the Core end up beneath the lot of a modest house, located in a small town, amongst many cities and prefectures of Yamato.

Perhaps it's a twist of fate, but a pair of sisters happen to live there.

The pair that's born and had their destiny shaped by its mysterious powers.

My name's Mirai, I was twenty-five this year. For some reason I couldn't really grow taller or bigger ever since middle school. That's why I still looked like a little girl, even today.

My little sister, Belle, had similar problems. She's still a loli even at twenty-two. At some point, her hair went from black to light-green and her skin texture was akin to a doll's.

While there was no health issues, I was worried on what will come next.

Probably since we were born and raised in this house, all these things happened.
Mom and Dad often got sick; they moved into nearby big city during my middle school. Though it wasn't difficult to care for Belle; she was so well-behaved as a child.

Our parents once wanted to just sell the house and move together, which meant transfering schools—but Belle end up throwing a tantrum. It was the first and only time she's throwing a fit, and it's kind of frightening even for my parents.

I too, got so attached. Like there's something in this house which made it so comfortable.

...but our parents weren't on the same page.

Aside from communicating via phone and sending us money, we rarely spoke. They still hadn't returned back, for so many years—I missed them.

I was kinda concerned for Belle, when she stopped caring for our parents and instead dote on me.

So far, everything's alright. I eventually finished high school and college; also helped my uncle with his grocery store for three years before Belle finished college.

During that time, she never tried to push me down or fondle me with perverted intentions, although I wouldn't really resist.

Belle's really cute after all, and if she truly love me this way, I don't mind being with her. Not just that, her presence also made me so at ease—like everything's gonna be alright.

While our parents might not approve, it's not like I had any interest in men in the first place.

It's not like they would dare to visit us in our home, ever.

Today, my parents still remembered to send their congratulations for Belle's graduation, although the most she reacted was just a simple, "I see."

She end up driving our van and strolled around the town. She already changed from her toga and simply chucked them in the back seat. Her small body didn't hamper her driving since she already adjusted the seat low enough.

"Sis, do you want to eat pizza today? I just looked up a new recipe."

"More importantly, what do you want to do after graduation?"

I could only see her doing stuff in the house and caring for me. Personally, with the money I got from helping uncle and our parents' monthly stipend, it's barely enough to splurge.

"I just want to be Sis' wife, is it okay?"

"Nn..."

I didn't mention that we wouldn't be having kids since we're both girls. Knowing her, she might go crazy over that and made it possible somehow.

Finances were quite tight and kids would just make it worse.

I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep the job. I was only in through my parents' connections and during work I was lazy and under-performing.

After a round of small talks, we returned home and the days went like usual.

...but lately, my health took a nosedive. I couldn't focus on work and Belle was quite feverish. One day, my eyelids felt so heavy. I couldn't even move despite my phone alarm ringing for a long time.

It was near lunchtime before I could barely gather my strength and get up. I got a really bad feeling. So, while hugging the walls and trying my best to not fall over, I went to Belle's room.

She was out cold...as if her life's going to end if no help came. Her already pale skin truly cut on my heartstrings.

No...out of everyone in this world, I don't want to lose her...

I knew saving her also meant saving myself. If she's gone, I would be next—I knew it.

Was it really something within this house? Was this place really cursed?

"Sis..."

As I got closer to her, she end up sleep-talking. While I was glad she's still able to speak, I was still so concerned, with no leads to speak of.

"I heard it calling for us..."

The next moment, I saw her standing from the bed with eyes closed, steadily scaling down her mattress and walking someplace I didn't know. She would turn at me, as if wanting me to follow her.

What I didn't expect, we went to the first floor, where the kitchen was, and Belle stomped on a certain wood tile. It wasn't even different from the others, seriously.

...and the tile actually shifted; revealing a stairway wide enough for us to pass through. Everything aside was dark and I couldn't even peer through despite being in front of my phone's flashlight.

It made me so scared, but I know it's something I need to face no matter what—at least for Belle's sake.

With her leading the way, I noticed the torches lightning one by one, as if welcoming our arrival. The place gave me some fantasy vibes, akin to dungeons I explored in RPG games.

It was a dimly lit hall with brownish-red color. In front was a huge double-door made outta wood. Despite the eerie atmosphere, the floors felt quite comfortable, just like ones in my house.

Belle effortlessly pushed the double door with one hand. I noticed the usual red carpet in RPG throne rooms, alongside a pedestal in its center, housing a floating blood-red diamond. Up close, it was as big as an adult human.

I also noticed all my slugishness dissipating when the diamond's within arms reach. Belle also manage to open her eyes.

"Sis, let's make a contract with it. This object will give us all the power to live the way we want."

This totally felt like a demon contract.

"Calm down, Belle. We should always read the fine print first."

Sorry but I wouldn't let you manipulate her anymore.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, while closing in my palm.

Nevertheless, I didn't see any contract or terms--only a sense of connection between us and the huge diamond.

I also learned of its heritage. It's actually the Core of a Demon King from another world called Terra. For some reason, it end up on the soil beneath my house, from the day I was born.

It felt too much of a coincidence.

I also learned of the Demon King's last memories. He lost terribly against the human heroes.

...but was the Demon King actually evil?

It was indeed his nature to sow endless chaos and destruction, but more of an instinct than conscious thought. He had always been consumed with endless desire to even think for himself—what was truly the best?

As for his chances of revival, I didn't even feel a trace of his presence. The core only serves to store his remaining powers and memories.

If there's any chance, it's probably something akin to reincarnation. If his lingering regret was that strong, he might eventually find this place.

It's kind of similar to how the paranoid heroes might wanted to seek and destroy this gem—all due to its power.

It's already too late to even consider backing off, since the connection's already established. Seeing Belle's rosy and healthy tint, amidst her pale, doll-like stature was enough to ease my doubts.

"Sis."

"What?"

"You've been staring at the stone for a while. I know it must mean something important to you."

"Belle, you didn't receive any inheritances?"

"No..." she shook her head, "I just feel a warm current and connection. Which meant that the rightful owner is still Sis."

I wasn't sure how the priority goes, though I got a hunch it's not just because I was exposed to its powers for the longest time.

...but I couldn't really put my finger on what it really was.

I just hope, when I possessed such power, I will always be its master.

Demon King's core under my house (second chapter)

"Nn..."

I woke up to a familiar ceiling, but a much better bed. A king-sized one with such comfy pillows. Belle's sleeping soundly beside me; even end up drolling while she embraced her pillow.

Since I was too lazy to go out, I called my uncle that I found a job which lets me work hrom home.

"Are you going to be a streamer?"

"Well, it's nothing that breaks the law and not prostitution for sure."

Uncle didn't say anything much and just told me to take good care of myself and Belle.

...but now, money's no longer a problem. I could cut off the electricity, internet, water, gas and stuff while still have everything functional normally--the Core could emulate all of them.

Since my income was bordering minimum wage, I got no income tax. The only thing to worry about was the housing tax we paid at the end of the year, which was still far away.

I noticed the Core would mainly absorb energy formed by our strong emotions, but how did it correlate with our loli appearance and loss of vitality in the recent days?

...and if that's the case, why couldn't we contract the Core from way, way back? Why need to wait twenty-five years?

Well, there were more pressing matters at hand.

Aside from the looming threat of the Heroes from Terra and the Demon King's reincarnation, I don't want to fuss about everything else.

I wouldn't even think about negotiating with them since the Heroes wanted to destroy the core at all cost and the Demon King might want to seize it back. I need it to escape from my daily grind. I got to it first and I wasn't harming anyone without a good reason--they had no right to make any demands.

All I know, as long we could utilize the Core to make ourselves happy, it would be a prepertual machine which would keep getting stronger and better our chances of surviving.

Still, this Core was so incredible. It even could create the best quality stuff out of thin air. There's also a loophole, that as long it got no magical capabilities, the cost would be pretty low, despite the item's inherent complexity.

Taking reference from Sci-fi things in my head, I manage to come up with dope results. I could turn my PC into a NAFA level Supercomputer, with maximum portability. So it's basically a small ball you can carry anywhere. it's estimated to be able to run on battery alone for a whole week at normal operation.

It could even recharge wirelessly as long the place had electricity. Just activate the charging mode and that's it. Taking like five minutes to go from 80 to 100%.

I didn't need to carry any monitors, mouse, keyboard and all that. When it's powered on, it would generate all the PC peripherals and it felt so real to touch.
It also came with its own OS--its loading times were so smooth—I could only see the OS logo flashing before it launched straight to the desktop, all with my old data.

The disk could probably fit all the HD Porn on the internet and still had much room for extra. The internet connection could download even 100 GB files in a second and gave me flat 1 ping on MMOs. Even the most demanding games would run at maximum FPS at the highest settings.

I got so addicted and spent the last few days playing games 'til late night. For the co-op ones, I end up dragging Belle into it. When needed, it could also generate controllers for us and it can handily respond to telephatic requests—talk about convenience.

I could understand why Belle's out cold, since she normally slept early. I wasn't sure how the Core would transform ourselves fron normal humans since I didn't feel much different.

...but if we encounter the Hero party and they wanted to mess with us, I wasn't sure if I could defend myself since I never even trained in basic martial arts.

That thought alone made me finally wake up. At the same moment, Belle noticed me and groggily rubbed her eyes.

"Sis?"

I told her my worries.

"Well, I don't think it'd be that easy for them to just invade here due to the Law of this world. If things went south, we can just call the police by either screaming our lungs out or setting an alarm. I prefer the latter though."

Yeah, I noticed that. This world heavily restricts the fantasy-esque magic and also supernatural powers to some extent, but there's no such limitations for Science. You could even say that Science is the real Magic System in this world, and it's extremely powerful.

While it could distort the Law of the World, it would have the highest efficiency if we adhere to it. Though we could still create stuff from nothing, with low cost—so I wasn't really sure. I did remember from the inheritance--since the Core was from a Demon King, an existence that's nearing Gods in power level—it had an extent of godly powers as well.

...but for the Heroes it was different, since their powers were simply borrowed from Gods of Terra. The effect of their abilities would be greatly weakened—at most they'd just be as strong of elite soldiers from Earth.

While I couldn't fight back, there's still Law and Order here and simply alerting others and calling the police would deter them.

Though, what if the Gods themselves decide to interfere? Maybe the Gods of Earth would intercept them. Since they're fighting on our home turf, they should have a big advantage.

...but now, I was thinking what will our Gods do against us. Ah, so complicated.

Even my reliable sister was confused on what to do next.

"How about some breakfast first?" I suggested.

"Mm..."

As for the Kitchen, I just let Belle made her own modifications. For its design, nothing much had changed, but now we have our own stove and oven that I saw on Masterclass cooking videos, in addition of various utensils I didn't understand.

Belle also ordered a vacuum storage, in addition of the fridge, to best preserve the ingredient freshness. She also 'ordered' many kinds of stuff that normally weren't available in our small town.

With her soft humming she began preparing our breakfast.

It's actually just fried rice. She simply put the leftover white rice from yesterday's in the vacuum storage and poured them towards the wok.

I noticed her pouring an almost transparent oil and waited until it started sizzling. When the rice was there, there's an eruption of buzzing noises which got louder as she added the condiment mixes into the tray. Also adding eggs, sliced sausages and bacon, with assorted vegetables.

With several flips, it's finally ready, with the heat evenly distributed and a homely delicious smell filled the area.

I love how there's no that sticky feeling from the oil and it tasted so fresh even for a fried dish. The rice was so fluffy and crunchy. I also love the mix of taste between the meat and veggies.

Before I could ask for seconds, Belle went to the fridge and took several fruits, putting them raw in the mixer. While normally you'd like to peel them, this one could juice everything without residues just fine.

I didn't know what fruit it was but it's probably a foreign one. It started out cool and refreshing, while it warmed up my insides. Quite strange, but hey it felt great for me.

Belle was giggling the whole time while watching me eat.

"It's nice that we can stay like this. Normally you'd just eat what I prepared this morning and rush straight to work."

"You know Belle, I really hate having to walk on someone else's pace the most. I could say it's good riddance."

"Glad to hear that, Sis," Belle crossed her petite arms and made a meaningful smile, "By the way, I already consulted with a security expert via the net, while you're asleep. I also made some modifications to our home. If these holligans dare to cause trouble, we don't need to wait for the police. You know how inefficient these people could be," she made a slashing motion at her neck and I felt the temperature drop sharply for a moment.

Fortunately, I never made her mad.

I tried to keep the infodumps to a minimum. Introducing the terms when it gets relevant in the story.

the powers are pretty liberal here and I don't really like showing the game systems and tables. it's just waste of words for me.
