Recommend me your novels where the protagonist (by your intent) exhibits behaviour that is obviously detrimental to them. That can be an addiction, acts related to mental problems (not even necessarily illnesses, just problems) etc.
Naturally, they have to tackle the aftermath of it all too

I'd recommend my stuff but I'm still in the middle of writing the whole process.

Mind if I get back to you in 3 months?

Sure. Hit me up when you are ready

Checked just now. Isn't it just porn?
It starts off as porn. I would quote a few reviews from the NU.

"I'm currently at chapter 800 and I can tell you this is good. It's well written with lots of actual plot instead of just pure s*x period lot's of dark societies, underground Mafia. Training and blackmail, correction, and all the good that is in the darkness of society."

"Like Pun, Cabman, and others have said the scale of this novel is huge. It was foreshadowed many times at the beginning, but it'll eventually explore the workings of Noble Families, Political World, and Yakuza of Japan. It's not a simple ero novel, it's actually a psychological novel."

And I wholly agree with those parts from the reviews. The story starts rather simplistic. It's hard to tear through all the rape things and similar stuff. However, eventually, it becomes very dark and attempts doing a heavy psychological plot. If it failed or not isn't up to me to decide. I liked the first part of the story quite a lot until a particular character appeared.

Can you spoil me about the character?

The particular character.

This one.
If I'm not mistaken, her name is Kyoko Messer. She appeared around 330 chapters. As I started reading this novel, I liked how dark this novel, because this 'darkness' was somewhat realistic. Of course, some things stuck out like a sour thumb, but overall, it was realistic. I'm talking from the point of view of my country and upbringing. I can easily imagine a lot of things happening. And then she appears.

She is too op, overly op. And with her appearance appeared some bullshit chi, inner energy, call it how you want. She exuded 'pressure' by simply standing there, she is monstrously strong, and so on. Unlike another character who was strong, Margo, Kyoko uses almost 'magical' skills and doesn't have a single weakness. I could've bear with the fact that she is op if only there wasn't this inner energy\pressure bullshit. In my eyes, she is too much of a plot device.

Self destructive behavior?
I guess all my 3 protagonists of Smoke and Murders count. The first pov is from an alcoholic with the social skills a rock. (even then a rock offends less people). Another is a naïve and self sacrificing to an unhealthy extent and the 3rd is an asshole enjoys making negative relationships rather than positives ones

The MC of The Cursed Heart has some moderate childhood trauma and later develops PTSD due to the story's events. He copes with both through vehement denial and reacting to stressful situations through incredibly reckless decisions and self-sacrifice. He insists he isn't suicidal and would never self-harm, but he'll unnecessarily climb a cliff without proper safety equipment and think nothing of it if he falls and breaks a few bones. He has a reckless disregard for both his health and his long-term future because since early childhood it's been assumed he could die horribly at any moment and probably won't have a future, and these habits stick with him long after he's safe.
