I don't understand the meaning of the genre. Is it means, the story has a romantic relationship but on secondary priority?

Or it's a type of harem and the mc have multiple romantic partners.

Please clarity. Thank you.

This is most novels. Something with an adventure happening in the foreground with romance as a side-dish. But people like to stack tags and genres, so they put the romance as a genre despite it being a mislabel. (Guilty of this)

You can look up 'subplots' and how to use them but generally, a story has the main arc (the big plot, your biggest point/goal yada yada), while subplots are there to add depth, detail, and tension to everything from the characters to the whole story. It's not necessarily 'secondary' but it can be.

A 'romantic' subplot is then romance that is not at the core of the story. That doesn't make it unimportant, nor does it indicate harems. It's just a 'sub' to the main plot. Most stories/novels/television shows out there contain a 'romantic' subplot.

Thank you. Now I understand.

This is explained in the above but TL;DR:

Romance developed on the background. No major arcs solely dedicated to the romance. It's a subplot that gets lesser focus than the actual story itself.
