And I feel I am one of them too.
So today after a mind numbing, d espair inducing exam that has made me doubt the Eldrich horror that convinced me to take this major(sorry mom ). Anyway my exam was bad but thanks to an angel by my side (Anita you beautiful female, I'm naming my MC's first wife after you) who saved me it wasn't all that bad.
So here I was walking back home(because I'm definitely not paying for transportation when I can walk home, which is basically the point of renting close to school) Yeah so I was walking home and the sun was frying me to a crisp I really, really craved a cold drink but I was reluctant to buy one(I'm broke as hell ) .
So the story so far me walking on the street thirsty as hell and then BWAM!!! I see people scrambling around running like animals, a bike rider jumped of his bike and let it fall on the ground, an older lady running into the road, children screaming following after her and there's me panicking thinking something terrible happened until I saw it and understood their reaction.
Suffice to say I was understanding of their reaction, I was tempted to follow w after them too and that thought disgusted me.
You see it was the mass communication department graduating today I think and with the excitement of signing out boys get really generous, so cruising in their cars on the street one particularly generous brother threw out like 5k (it's like 3.7$ its not a lot) but people around me became rabid, an old lady latched onto a young boy who dived towards a 200N note (whatever a dollar divided by 6 or 7 is) people pushing and screaming at each other and worst of all young children running into the path of speeding cars to get an extra note.
Honestly it was a bit frightening as someone who has been used to seeing poverty I didn't really understood the desperation that comes with that state. I won't call myself poor anymore I'm just a little too broke.
Sorry for the long rambling but I just needed to put what I was feeling right now into words have a nice day y'all
