Kind surprised no one mentioned Wisher Beware (and the sequel Ecdysis). Its from this very site after all.

It's honestly the best novel with this trope i've seen around. From a setting where it actually makes sense for the character to be able to do this, as well as the fact it doesn't treat the people living in the "backwards society" as a bunch of stupid mongrels. Excellent characters and world building too.

I admit I'm a sucker for this trope.

Although I didn't like how it progressively relied on smut scenes, Tyranny of Steel is my favorite: US Infantryman is killed in the ME and sent back to alternative Europe in the 15th century and proceeds to go on quite the conquering spree.

Really enjoyed the first few hundred chapters of Release That Witch. The author was very creative in how individual witches powers could be used to further technological progress.

Sengoku Komachi Kuroutan: Noukou Giga is another one close to the heart. It's more agricultural and historical centered but it's a great read.

Looking for any more suggestions!
1) Datang Idyll (https://www.novelupdates.com/series/great-tang-idyll/)

the probably unique chinese novel in the past (and future) of internet, that dared to directly mention that IRL china is fking corrupt
and its (antihero) MC directly spurn the "country" mentioning "he only likes the citizens of it, not the country"
oh and bribing chinese police, even putting his subordinates in sniper squad

2) Mohist Datang

The most perfected "time travel" chinese novel in Tang dynasty.
In chef logic. You know the chef/dish is op when it makes the eater to eat something he dislikes. Welp, i disliked "tang time travel" and this one made me like the genre. Though sad that it was one of the few, if not the only good one, at that time, before started all this shitty trends of "systems/emperor hide identity and hear advices of MC/MC is prince/blablabla"
ps : Example of how good it is, MC wrote in (his) newspaper, a passage of a bought greek book, the (true irl) anecdote of Greek Philosopher Socrates when he was asked [What is love] He simply said to the person, go to wheat field, and pick the best one BUT YOU CANT PICK BACK. In the end the asker came back and said "I found a few nice ones but because i didnt pick them as i thought i would find better ones. But later on i only find bad ones but couldnt go back. In the end i came back empty" Socrates : That is love
*mindblown*

3) Jp series this time :
(manga translated)

from a time, when isekai BOOM started, and everyone to them, but meanwhile i read the unpopular slow-life ones. From a time, Vtubers werent a thing, games werent known to be scam-quality, movies were good, heck i wonder smartphones not a thing yet maybe. And manhuas + manhwas didnt appear yet translated (cough Breaker New waves, kinda exception and most popular one)

4) Kuma Kuma Kuma bear

........................Because at that time, there were jackshit nothing to read. And probably the most mega fluffly ultra wholesome plot among jp novels on NU.
I have re-read it x4 times
Yep 4 times.
Btw the translator team did 1ch/MONTH
Everyday, unlike now, you probably finished the daily updates of good stuff in just 30mins and bored to death. Finished the anime episodes, the manga chapters, and novels were snail speed to translate, games redundance, no short videos, no vtubers, etc

5) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/a-hospital-in-another-world/
big fav of all times
For a long while.
I followed EVERY DAILY UPDATE OF THIS MASTERPIECE OF A NOVEL
ps : slightly cliche annoying beginning (for shortcut growth) but can be ignored / FL is the perfect writing of a likeable tsundere = which is basically being innocent/ignorant/willfull/kind/not-lustful. And very op, useful bodyguard cheat for MC. She appear quite later.
Probably finished. Being so long, raw had 900+ ch

6) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/tensei-reijou-wa-shomin-no-aji-ni-uete-iru/
Food, more food, even more food
One rare series i liked reading with a female MC
From a era, when mangas werent full of "EXPULSED FROM PARTY/REVENGE/BETRAYAL" and stuff. From a era, where novels-mangas where full of MOFUMOFU and wholesomeness. And madoka didnt create the trend of "dark magical girls"

7) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/maou-sama-no-machizukuri-saikyou-no-danjon-wa-kindai-toshi/
Action demon lord / create own subordinates
Recurring joke Lolicell as nickname for MC (its like Kazutrash of Konosuba), because RNG, his created subordinates are mostly LOLIS. No NSFW.

8) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/magi-craft-meister/
This one is good and meh.
The atmosphere while reading is....................hard to explain in words. Invention and all, the whole "crafting with very op magic from predecessor" is nice, but there is this........vibe while reading that kinda turn it off for me.

9) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/ascendance-of-a-bookworm/
This one, i guess no need to explain

10) https://www.novelupdates.com/series/throne-of-magical-arcana/
Musician/magician chinese MC, in a original world.
from the popular author Cuttlefish, that did mega popular series LORD OF MYSTERIES, and my fav "Martial arts Master" (most wholesome chinese novel that make the reader question if author was chinese at that time)
I read early few chaps, but didnt continue but recommending just in case. Its quite good.

11) THE SERIES, that created the idea-trend of "chinese MC recreating movies/animes/games/etc in a isekai"
a must read for lot of people

---------------

Tired.
The expert of "slice of life" out.

in I Was a Man Before Reincarnating, So I Refuse a Reverse Harem she creates a water filtering system, but there's so much more and it's so much better than 99% of harem stories.
