Does that mean SH isn't as suited for authors of normal genres?

I write a villainess isekai story and it works fine on this site. :) I'm definitely getting more readers here as compared to RR.

I think that generally, the genres that do well here are isekai, LitRPG, power fantasies and the like. I think what Venior means is that you are bound to get readers even if you write niche genres or genres that other sites might shun.

So you won these or are these just the contests you entered?
The contests I won 😇 And I found out I can only fit ten images in a post, so . . .

Damn, the Creative Queen Award sticker says the file is too large. Anyway, you get the idea.

It also means that if the story is by its premise an explicit one, decently written at it, it has a chance to garner a lot of attention and readers, since those kind of stories are less allowed on other platforms. Like my Brothel story was naturally rejected due to it having a word brothel in the name on one of the platform, and although after writing a short essay to the admin who was checking it and explaining how it's a story and not a pornfic, he still declined to accept it even though I've assured and convinced him it should be fine, he fully agreed with my points, but in case if it wouldn't anyway, they'd rather not take risks.

And that story has 12 3-4k chapters rn without any hot action :blob_joy:

I was not aware I was speaking with such a celebrity this whole time. I'm honoured.

In my humble opinion, anything is suited for SH. It's just that there's quite a lot of fans of isekai and other common troupes among the community. Though, I also tend to see some smut, gl, bl, reincarnation, transmigration and etc. Anyway, it will all depend on your goals. If you want to;

1. Get a Fanbase -SH is good.
2. IF you want to earn - SH is good. But, ehem, just like every other site. You must also be good and consistent.
3. As a hobby - Perfect, just like what the other SH lurkers have said, "This place is non-toxic. So, don't be toxic too."

The site has a somewhat niche preference, especially about Smut, Gender Bender (not transgender but actual magical gender change), Yuri, Yaoi, Litrpg, and Isekai.

For not it's in the middle ground. We'll have to wait and see if it will become a SmutHub or not.

What do you mean by normal genres? With a quick search through you'd find this site performs the best with Fantasy, Isekai, and LitRPG.

The smut novels I was referring to weren't the most popular novels, I was simply noting how they're acceptable on this site; since most other sites wouldn't receive that sort of content as well.

If by normal genres you were referring to non-smut, than yes you'll do fine. Again the largest bit of advice I can give you, regardless of genre, is consistent uploads. Whether thats 1/daily or 1/weekly, as long as you have a consistent schedule you'll find an audience.

To be honest, most of my competitors were teenagers, and I have some advantages that should disqualify me from those sorts of contests, but since I'm writing Kaiba's Prostitute as a form of activism . . . all is fair in love and war!
