In short, she was rumored to be have been detained for publishing and distributing illegal materials containing BL in her home province.
i looked it up, from what I understand... she was detained August 2019?

And just now? the reason was revealed publicly, and it for tax evasion.

personally, I am not so sure if this case is bl censorship, because her work had been made in to tv shows and movies, and i thought Danmei(or bl without sex scenes) is currently a thriving industry in China.

don't quote me my chinese is a bit rusty.

also,
the author that got 10 years, from what I understand its not the BL, it the pornograhy that got her arrested, production of pornographic materials in China is illegal. fan are angry... and the question of would it be the same if it was porn but not bl, would it be the same... I don't know.

I meant something like this:

"Until November 10th 2020, I received definite news.
Chinese referee documents network discloses a message:
Yang Yang and Yuan Yimei illegally operate criminal judgments of first instance.
At the same time, the Court held that the contents of this criminal judgement were not appropriate for public disclosure on the Internet.
Therefore, netizens can only determine that MXTX is indeed detained, the reason for detention is "illegal operation"."

I know about the old rumors which I why I said they resurfaced. Her real name and her pseudonym is the question here because someone named "Yuan Yimei" was (apparently) found guilty the day before yesterday, but now I want to know if it is the same person...

Yes, I know about that too, so I said she did break the law of publishing and distributing illegal content. (And Yaoi is "pornographic" in nature). It's the length of the sentence that is the question most are so fascinated by, thus linking it to BL due to it being much more offensive to the "social norms" of minors than het. (At least that's what I understand the outrage was about).

Thus, the author's two books that contain Yaoi (i.e. "pornographic" content) being blocked is what raises my concern now... :blob_frown:

AH~ I am up to date now...

So this is what I understand. now
in August 2019 there was a rumor that MXTX was arrested for tax evasion, however the publisher for MXTX's work came out and disputed that rumor.

But on 11/10/20 the Hangzhou Shangcheng People's Court announced that Yang Yang and Yuan Yimei is arrested for operating a business illegally,

While it seems pretty concert that MXTX is charged, the officials does not appeared to have released what the details of the charges are but in further reading the crime of operating a business illegally reference is there

It will take some time for me to understand what that crime entail, but I will find out if I can.

But because the the rumor from 2019, people/fans are confused and are being cynical of what is actually happening.

I don't know Chinese but the news about Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's (the popular author of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation for those who don't know) old rumors about being arrested resurfaced. I have no idea what's going on but the Weibo is supposedly very agitated about this?

In short, she was rumored to be have been detained for publishing and distributing illegal materials containing BL in her home province. For two last years, these rumors came and went, worsened by the fact that she disappeared from the internet (though she was very active before that).

Now her home province seems to have banned her two popular BL books (Scum Villain and Grandmaster) for "threatening the social norms of minors"? This is just a bit... frustrating, to say the least :blob_no:.

Note: a similar case of several years ago ended up with the BL author being imprisoned for 10 years for the same offense. :blob_teary:

Does anybody know what's going on with that? :blob_frown: I can't find anything factual but I am worried...
Yes she is in jail. She is been sentenced 3 years for publish her own book. Court is not in public….It’s just so hilarious that the one who sell pirated her books no need to go jail but she needs. Fxxx communist China! Fxxx totalitarian!
Thanks for telling the truth about china. The people outside china know more than the people living there! Censorship just blinds all the people in china. MXTX disappeared more than 2 years and her Chinese fans are still insisting that she is not in jail because of she is innocent! Chinese people never know that a lot of innocent people in jail In china!

I’m Chinese. I can read and understand Chinese law. But actually there is no law in china, CCP can sentence anything to anyone…. Her fans in china refused to see what happening because of they have been brainwashed by government which made them never believe government will put innocent people in jail. And in Chinese culture, in jail means guilty and shameful. They don’t have the idea that it’s proud for an author in jail in a totalitarian country.

China can just rip a person off easily. A big tv star(Zhang zhehan) who has millions of fans can be rip off within one day, no mention MXTX. A powerful totalitarian country can do anything….
