Here's my take on them.

Facebook: Filled with boomers and run by people that sell your data to advertisers and sketchy companies and governments.

Twitter: The people on there have never touched grass once in their life and will actively ruin your life if you so much as breathe. Don't even get me started on how much hypocrisy twitter freaks spew out of their mouths 24/7.

4Chan: A place where showers go to die and anonymity thrives, leading to a culture where racism and incel culture is pretty much just waved away as people grew so desensitized to people unironically believing the most insane crap you could ever hear.

Reddit: A place where people can go to get helpful advice. The caveat being that you don't know which advice is helpful or just people trolling, and echo chambers run rampant turning certain subreddits(usually fandom related ones) into a sort of unholy abomination child of twitter outrage and 4Chan lack of filter.

Honeslty, I can't decide which one is worse. Facebook's community is usually chill as long as you don't talk about politics, but the company that owns it is sketchy as crap with their CEO looking as if he came from the planet colony 4579.

Reddit also has its good moments as long as you don't browse it for more than five minutes. Just get in, find what advice you're looking for, then leave.

4Chan's anonymity is a double edged sword because you can say whatever you want, but that doesn't mean that the things being said have any braincells put behind the creation of the devilish 'bad take.'

As for Twitter, I don't know what to make of it. There's like that 1% of posts where its genuinely funny af, but the rest of the 99% is outrage and cancel culture at work.

At this point, Scribblehub forums and YouTube are my only remaining forms of social media. Twitter is toxic shit, Facebook is too political, Reddit can either be helpful or porn, and 4chan is just wack but humourous. Tumblr also exists and I technically still have an old account but I rarely use it because it's the only social media site where your intrusive thoughts can go.

Facebook is mostly irrelevant imo and just used to keep in touch with relatives.

Twitter is for influencers, companies, and memers, use it to follow these and get news from them, for them specifically if you follow and enjoy their content. Discussions here are just brain rot, and you can check if someone's opinion is valid by checking if they have a lot of tweets.

Reddit same as Twitter except the good parts and bad parts are segmented by the subreddit. And also the mods can be insanely brain rotted sometimes.

4Chan I have literally never used but I like green text stories.

Also, while 4Chan seems to have lots of racist and unhinged things, Twitter used to have blatant racism in different directions, and Reddit has had it's share of unhinged subreddits as well, so unless I were to look more into 4Chan I can't make a perfectly accurate evaluation of it. However, in my opinion, having completely unmoderated content is better than content that isn't moderated when it aligns with certain views, and moderated when it doesn't.

Order of Worst to Decent,
Twitter > 4Chan > Reddit > Facebook
or
Twitter > Reddit > 4Chan > Facebook
depending on your subreddits. In my personal case it's the former.

4chan just depends on the boards you visit. /v/, /pol/, /r9k/ and /b/ are home of actual genetic deadends and the rest of the site hates them. The rest of the boards are mostly shitposters sprinkled in with genuine discussion and offensive content to filter normies. Ironically enough that site is really culturally diverse.
Twitter I mostly use to browse art because a lot of artists use that as a platform with pixiv. If you train the algo well you can just look at art and never see the garbage that it's infamous for.
Facebook I only use to be in touch with older relatives.
Reddit is an echo chamber and I advise you to never use it unless you want to ask a really specific question in something niche.

4chan is better because it isn't fettered by upvotes or downvotes. Say your shit and leave, or stay and reee.

Its the best window into society as it truly is imo, instead of getting astroturfed.

Accurate, lmao. They all suck and I don't use any of those platforms except Reddit once in a blue moon to promote my fic. But Reddit also sucks and a huge % of the dudes giving advice clearly belong on r/iamverysmart and are armchair [expert at whatever] at most. It's hilarious but also sad. Take advice from Reddit at your own peril, lol, and always vet the info!

You forgot about Instagram and TikTok, which are both absolute dumpster fires. Let's not forget about TikTok tics. This platform needs to be tossed into a giant hellfire for the good of humanity. Instagram is also trash for obvious reasons I won't get into here (but I'm sure you all know already).

Tl;dr: Regardless of the potential for good that social media was perceived to have had something like 10 years ago or so, it's pretty obvious by now that it tends to amplify the absolute worst in humanity. Toss this shit into a hellhole and cover it up, never to be unearthed again. It is the only way!

If we're talking about most popular, Reddit is probably the most popular even over twitter. I would rather go by intelligence to determine worst.

If we go by the intelligence of the users here is my rank:

Dumbest to Smartest:

1. Twitter
2. Reddit
3. Facebook
4. 4Chan

4Chan might be full of trolls, but I've found them to be far smarter than the majority of users on Reddit who seem to scream in idiocracy.

Twitter might not be the worst for long, though. I find that it's been improving.
