It's a world where everyone respawns every morning, but all professions feature sadists who torture people. Your dentist rips your teeth out one by one every time you go. The doctors make surgical cuts along your body without anesthetic when you have to go to the doctor, and you do have to go. Not to mention, the professions aren't human. They are more alien, with wriggling, sharp tentacles they use to probe your orifices.
Your door to the outside world has a handle covered in sharp spikes, but you have to grip it hard to be able to turn it. The seat of your car slowly peels your skin off your ass when you drive it. The longer you have to drive, the more skin that gets peeled off.
Your only solace is your bed, but you can't remain in bed forever. If you lie in your bed for more than 8 hours, bugs will start to crawl over your body. By the 12-hour mark, parasites begin to creep into your skin.
And you don't get numb to the pain either. It starts at a more numbness, so you can only see what happens to your body. But over the months of living there, the pain is slowly scaled up.
Every year, you get one month of freedom from torture. The sadists that had been torturing their subjects the whole time treat you gently. So, basically you are on edge the entire time of the monthly celebration, and you have to party with the people that cause you anguish.
