ye tanks, I know that, its just that the average quality in gl tagged novels is especially low as far as I could tell, xianxia is about the same but isekais and litrpgs have more than few good ones even tho majority is mediocre at best, gl tagged novels are mediocre at best with the rare exeption that most if the time doesn't eve have the gl tag
Do you understand that this is only your personal experience AND perception? All revenge isekais are the same in my eyes, and the quality is as low as it can get. All slow-living isekais are even worse. Standart fantasy isekais are slightly, SLIGHTLY, better than revenge isekais. So, will we continue bantering over our preferences and personal experiences? I haven't even read a single GL. Btw, why didn't you mention BL? Are BL novels better than GL? Or you haven't read a single BL and can't judge objectively? Every genre has good and bad stories.

My novel has a lesbian girl, but that only comes in WAY later. How quickly do GL fans expect to see the tag come into the novel? Do they care more about the build-up relationship or the quick wish fulfillment?

How quickly do YOU expect certain tags to come into the novel when you are reading? That's your answer.

like i don't know about that, since i read a sizable number of them I think i can speak about it, maybe i was unluky and dint find anything good and the average quality was bad, isekay are getting worst by the day since americans started to write them and now most antagonist are racist, slavers or sexists and they are bad and stupid and really really bad so must fight them, have the same conversation and you can telegraph the story form chapter 4 or 5, few are good still like BTDEM witch has a really solid worldbuilding and good storyline. revenge story in general are bad if they start with a poor bullied or abused mc that faced all injustice in life for no reason whatsoever than the fact that its the mc.
gl tagged stories have the same problem its just i cant remember of reading a story tagged gl that was actually good, and i have read a good number of them, i dont comment on bl since i don't read them so i dont know

Personally, if you put the GL tag, myself as a GL fan I also expects fulfillment of that relationship. Nothing is as depressing as bait. if you are also going to have HET, please warn beforehand or you will get a lot of hate.

As a girl that really loves yuri, here is some good GL on SH:
Kunoichi : Very nice novel. Loved it from start to end. Cute, psychologically thrilling and compelling to the end. The story is finished.
Sleeping Princess : My favorite on SH. yuri harem story but not smutty. All girls have a dark and a bright side. Deep emotional themes. I wait for every release to read more. 4 volumes are finished.
Fireworks warning : New but it is building up really nice and looks very promising. Very moe.
Vintage Red : has a vampire theme next to the GL. It is more of a comedy. Goes into girls-only-poly-amorous romance.

depend on the reader, I drop most novels that don't have a decently crafted world and rely to much on plot armor, I'm mainly a fantasy reader and you might be writing something else so worldbuilding might be less important.
generally speaking a good plot and narration are good to have and if you can avoid contraddictinons and keep the plot following a reasonable logic it will be good as well

See? YOU can't remember. Another person will say that there are ONLY good GL novels, and once again, it will be your opinion against his\her opinion. Every genre is the same. You can't use your own opinion as an argument. It will be a battle of opinions where you can't understand whose opinion is the right one.

Im using worldbuildng, plot, character construction amd writting style as the standard to judge, a good, well crafted story will still be good even if i dont like what it stands for, me liking what it stands for will just have me give extra marks, and since the only reason most gl novels are mediocre its because lesbians are hot, that's me liking it, it doesn't really paint a good picture about the actual quality if you don't like lesbians or dont care about it

Yuri, lesbians. GL=Girls Love, it's an abbreviation. In my opinion, it's popular here because the rules of r-18 novels are lenient.
Huh? So basically I can write a guro cannibalism porn?

Come to think of it, there are (not were) a ton of incest porns and some questionable underaged things in this place even though the rules are clear that porn with no plot is to be removed. Guess they got away from being not so explicit like those in storiesonline.

I don't remember. If the rules allow you to write a guro cannibalism porn, then yes, you can. Underaged things I'm not so sure. I do know that one novel was deleted(the author was asked to remove it) for having questionable underaged things, and they were probably explicit. Stories with more porn than plot are allowed because of the loophole in the rules. Technically, you can't say that it's only porn or half of the story is porn if an author is still pumping up new chapters. It's a work in progress, and later chapters might not contain any porn at all. A loophole that some people use.

That's a really tricky question and has a bunch of factors to keep in mind:
-Is the romance a big part of the plot? (if not, the GL subplot tag might fit better then GL as a genre)
-Is it the MC or a supporting character? (similar to above, or maybe no tag at all)
-Is there buildup for the romance before it becomes "official" (personally, I like the journey towards a good relationship, if done right, just as good as the relationship itself)

If reader counts are important to you for your motivation, adding the tag from the start (and maybe the Late Romance tag so people are informed) might be a good move.
Early exposition and consistent updates seem to be two major factors to get a novel trending and keep exposition high.
