Birds keep flying into the glass door of my apartment at full speed. None of them have died yet but one keeps coming back for it and I'm pretty sure it has brain damage.
No one has to fully explain their magic/power system. That's how life works. If you born, you don't suddenly get an entire instruction manual for life or how weapons function. It just needs to be explained at a basic level and experienced from there. That said, if you want to explain it, no one is stopping you.
Pros and cons of writing Sci-fi
Pros: It's fun. Lots of options. Space. Technology go brrr. Hubris of man. Hope for the future.
Cons: Whatever science you use will be torn to bits by any and all scientists of utilized field until there is nothing left but a skeleton of misunderstood false explanations that now hold no value to the story.
