Has anyone tried using MidJourney to make their book covers yet? It's 10$ for 200 images and you own all of them. Here's a few I made and found..

there are more but the thread wouldn't end..

I’ve actually found some very impressive results but the eyes tend to be creepy and need to be fixed. It won’t replace artists but it and other services have possibilities with extending art in the same style and remixing it. The server costs ultimately shake down to about the same as just finding an artist and commissioning them to make exactly what you want. Same as how text generation won’t replace writers beyond a certain point of remixing and stock articles.

can you get a commission for 10$ ?
30$ on midjourney gives you unlimited images for a month, half of the usual artist fee

Artists can do stuff with more specific requests, make revisions and whatnot~

And well, most of those AI programs are usually pretty bad at anime-style covers, which means I still only consider waifulabs as the only real alternative for poor me who can't afford an artist (I'd love to, but some artists request as much money as I earn in a month, so... Not happening).

AI is good if you want something that doesn't have the specific details you care about... The more specific your request is, the more necessary an artist is~

In summary, just usual doomsaying. AI cover is a godsend for poor people (like me! I love waifulabs because I'm poor!), but artists won't lose their job because of AIs.

The real money is porn. I doubt we will get ai to generate faces without the uncanny factor within the next 50 years.

They already can. There is a website with books written entirely by robots.
With severe limitations set by the developers though, namely on NSFW, racism and other touchy topics.

And the AI can write short works with minimal errors and feel organic, but if you get them to write in full, you will need a human editor at hand.

I tried but didn't get the artstyle and composition I wanted so I decided to draw my own.

Sure it can draw realistic and 3d characters really well but in anime artstyle with specific details I couldn't get the exact character design I imaged. So I just downloaded some background I thought of and used some as references.

what's the point of cover if it doesn't reflect what the story actually is, just eye-candy to catch attention?

also, 10$....heh, a lot of authors got their covers on waifulabs or wombo for FREE. Just saying.
