We all know that scribblehub is by this point de facto the literary equivalent of pornhub. It doesn't surprise thus that we even share the last word in common. Maybe we should rebrand and change our name into smuthub. At least, it would do justice to our excellent reputation, but I digress.
I appreciate the pun and the snark, and what I am about to say is besides the point, but only as a subject of interest.

If any site is the literary equivalent of pornhub, its gotta be Literotica right?

According it TOS, its started since 1998!!

Get your mind around that NINETEEN NINETY-EIGHT!

its catalog is ALL smut, and its forum's stats is a titanic , "Threads: 1,059,087, Posts: 59,920,484, Members: 2,526,789"!

I don't know how active the site is, but a cursory browse showed its far from dead. And at this moment, not this site or any other has the guns to slay that tyrannical colossus.

Anyway just some fun facts when I try to find out who actually is the literary equivalent of pornhub.

As you were. Carry on.

If you're at all familiar with the works of Robert Heinlein, you know that some top-tier authors deal with very controversial content including incest. I don't believe these works should be restricted or censored but rather discussed openly. Keep in mind that in Heinlein's world of science fiction, technology has overcome some of the primary arguments against incest.

Fiction is an important way to challenge the status quo of our society. We don't always have to agree, but sometimes, authors make a huge impact on society. Think back to when people could be imprisoned for being gay:

I agree, but you miss the point.

I think part of the issue is that if Scribble Hub allows certain types of content it will face issues with certain groups. Anything porn related is refused business by PayPal if I recall correctly. This also extends to some other sites, and makes things difficult for smaller sites.

So if Scribble Hub officially allowed "porn" stories it would face difficulty operating and growing. So my guess is that SH wants to allow stories that fall into the lighter end of that spectrum (in more the view of some ANY description of sex or naked bodies makes something porn), but can't due to the risk of persecution. Therefore it tries to skirt around this with a form of plausible deniability by leaving certain rules vague.

Stuff like underaged sex is a different case. You can actually get in real legal trouble just by reading it in some places. In Canada for example the laws about this are poorly written so even fictional underaged sex is treated the same as real stuff, and thus it is a crime to have it on your computer in any form.

Personally I find it weird that having sex with a dead body is banned. It's not really an obscene act, more just something where one party can't consent. Defiling a corpse in other ways seems to be allowed (one word: necromancers), so I find it odd. I guess it is more of a holdover from older times. You know like when being a heathen meant you could abuse someone to "correct" them.
