Do you intentionally skip chapters?

That depends on the story. If I'm reading a story for the story, then no. If I'm reading it for something specific, then I sometimes skip to the part that interests me and don't bother with other things. That's really rare though, I've maybe done it five times.

Edit: When a story gets boring, I stop reading it all. I don't skip then because it's generally a good recipe for confusion and further dissatisfaction with the story.

If it's obvious fanservice or filler, sure. I also only skim through smut scenes, since most authors never put important stuff into that.

Otherwise no. I'll power through.

I don't skip all that often but I do skim and I do lose my place in the chapter and sorta assume that I'm done

If I ever get to the point of constantly wanting to skip chapters I usually just drop the story soon after. But if it’s just once in while I push through it.

Reading online fiction, books, or manga?

I know many can tell when someone skips a chapter in a story based on views.

If so... WHY?
I don’t skip chapters unless it’s smut (and even then, I rarely skip those unless they are the overdone domination smuts… which is actually most of those). I will say that a lot of times, I will reread a chapter I enjoyed, so it can make other chapters look they got some skipped some. I think some other people do that too.

Same, if I start wanting to jump ahead it is a last ditch effort to find a reason not to drop it for not being entertaining.

I often skip in multi-perspective novels. There are some MCs I can't be bothered to care about. Otherwise, porn and weird slice of life fillers, skip and skip! ✂

I don't skip chapters.
Sometimes i look ahead to see whats up but I return to pick up where i left off.
What's the point of a story if you are not-reading it?

Not every chapter contributes to the story.

Sometimes you might wish to know how it ends without wading through fifty chapters of untagged smut... Or you are invested in the lives of the three initial main characters, when the author decides Steve#5's stereotypical inner thoughts need a hundred chapter exploration arc.
Finally, you might not care about MC's riveting volleyball match with a hundred virgins at Plot-Breaking Beach that is consequently forgotten and never mentioned again.

If you are not in possession of a princess capable of reading, you might think twice about consuming such chapters.
