Those turn me off too! I don't understand one night stands too. I hate when i see them. So i personally don't write them. And you are right! Write should be able to do steam even with clothes on.

Though for me... I rather them off!!! xP Just how my silly brain works. But i understand where you come from. My stories are plot driven rather than smut though. But love those smut scenes.~
The solidification of committment in a sex scene is what I can handle. I can understand people in a relationship wanting to do horizontal cardio, the devil's tango, etc. What I don't get is one night stands. I think my turn off is that the last few series I've watched, the sex scene was like the end of the tension in the story. The characters started sleeping together and the plot just sort of ended but the series continued on. The story ended with the climax in the bed but no story payoff. And I think a good romance writer can invoke steamy passion while the characters still have their clothes on. Every climax needs a build up. One extreme example was a mystery. The two detectives slept together and then every scene with them ended in fade to blacks and then the villain was just caught... somehow and we got a final sex scene. It was so jarring. The tone completely changed after they had sex
One night stands can develop into relationships some times. It's a spicy thing when you catch feelings instead of an STD lol.
The problem here is - there is no set consensus on tags.
There are always groups of people who consider any sufficiently explicit story to be smut (and not just Adult or R-18 for example) while others would draw a line between romantic conclusion\part of a healthy lifestyle and the gratuitous nightstands.

Sometimes it is simply easier to slap the tag and avoid issues, knowing that some readers would skip the story.
I didn't put the smut tag because I ran out of space, LMAO. I do warn there's explicit sex in the story sinopsis, tho.

Reader satisfaction is a must. Promise revenge? Give revenge. Promise sex? Give sex. Promise a mystery? Don't catch the villain off screen! But back to the original poster's question, maybe the balance between steam and plot could be worked on? Or maybe the readers were very satisfied :s_wink:

I love tags. I like to know what I'm getting into and I think a lot of readers look for smut intentionally so it's fine. I just personally avoid that tag

For me, it wasn't enough so i had to substitute adult tag with smut just not to bother. Who knows maybe I will remove it when i am done.

That is what I meant by knowing that people will skip the story based on the tag

The fantasy world might not have a lot of STDs. heck, even early medieval Europe have very few.

They do like the adventure. And sadly we are in the business of sick people. Thus we make more money from stupid decisions. So be smart, stay healthy. c:

This is assuming they knew what killed them back then. xP And yes fantasy may not have stds but then the romance!!! :C And babies!!! Unless it is same sex... Then uh... Romance? xP

That's spicy AF. You'd have to deal with body/gender dysmorpia, which is criminally underexplored.

If the setting is fantasy, go to the church and have a healer cast cleanse or FETUS DELETUS on you, lmao.

so my prides submission series is an alternate future (kinda grim dark). Where in order to get any job, of any relevance, one must go to the grand university. The catch is, to go there you have to get sponsored by a fraternity or sorority, and remain in good standing. The sororities are all named after their founders, and Rachelle Sorority hazes their freshmen by forcing them to obey any command a senior may give them. Even sexually degrading commands must be followed, or they'll get expelled and kicked out.

The third book is going to be focused on a new character, a female main character that has been given the opportunity to go to the university and find herself in this sorority. Before she can go, however, she must take a series of new vaccinations. It is then that she starts to feel strange, and the following morning she's shocked to find that she has become a Futa.

Hot blooded Romance is always the best for me. The intense passion of having intimacy through an act is what drives me to enjoy smut. Though smut for the sake of it is just plain. And for me, romance without smut can also be very plain. *This is preference though. There are people who don't like smut in their stories. This is heresy, though!* :blob_catflip:

Like we like to believe we would wait for intimacy, but in reality when people are in love. They will do it. Sooner than later. Usually. And to me, that is what smut allows me to see. I don't care about the dirty bits, just the emotions involved. This is where smut can fail at too. It can be dirty yet not connect enough for the people to stay.:blob_aww: So the plot is very important too.
Exactly this. A good sex scene, and erotica in general, isn't just about the sex. Its the feelings. People live vicariously through these stories, and they want intimacy. They want to feel loved, they want to feel cared for. And if you can make them feel that, then you did a good job. Smut can be as dirty or degrading as you can make it, but if that's all it is it rings hollow.

S and M has a lot to do with mutual trust and affection, for example. People don't often put themselves in positions of submission unless they really trust you and know that you wont really hurt them. Thus, they can let themselves go and just enjoy themselves. Well, some people just like to be dominated tho. Usually people who feel they need to be punished deep down for some reason, whatever that may be.

Anyway, just an example. Feelings are always important in a sex scene.

Hey, Futanari Connoisseur, a legit question here. Is a Trans Woman considered Futanari?
The short answer is yes. The long answer is no.

A Futanari is a hermaphrodite, meaning having both sexual organs (most of the time). However, the female bits are often replaced with testicles and still count.

Now, a man that transitioned to woman could be considered a Futanari, but I believe that to be "degrading" and she should be considered a woman through and through unless stated by the person themselves after serious consideration. Futanari is a fetish, and Trans people should not be fetishized in my opinion. This naturally is a sensitive topic, as trans should not be taken lightly with the struggles they go through.

Now, if the woman has not yet gone through gender reassignment surgery (i think that's the term), and has sexual relations with her male genitals, she could be considered a Futa, but that invites questions as to the mental burden the act would result in, as they are having sex with a genital they don't feel comfortable having.

Now, if all this serves the purpose of identifying their gender dysphoria, then that's more reasonable since most trans people suffer greatly when having sex in the wrong body.

This in turn could also be an empowering move, since Futanaris are inherently female, regardless of penis, so the trans person could call themselves a dickgirl, to cope with having a penis as a man. This would turn them into a PHI, or Penis Having Individual (which doesn't mean man).

Personally I don't like to read smut, and would rather read stories where sex scenes are glossed over. This is simply because there are better things out there to focus my sex drive on than a novel. There have been several good stories out there that were ruined for me due to excessive smut.

I like smut as much as the client is willing to pay
I am not that big on it. I mean, if its just smut (third time I have to rewrite a word, gosh, swift keyboard sucks ass) without plot, I could find a hentai book for that or smth, no reason to scour a web novel site for it

Smut without a story is stale, much like porn/hentai without a decent intro/premise. I don't practically like it since it gets repetitive very easily. Good smut imo is one of the hardest things to write. Very few had been able to do it consistently well. But otherwise, sex and intimacy adds a much needed flare to a story, drives characters forward, and sometimes, the plot as well.

For me, it wasn't enough so i had to substitute adult tag with smut just not to bother. Who knows maybe I will remove it when i am done.
This is just my personal opinion but I'd consider the smug tag justified. For me, it's the difference between saying these two fucked and providing small hints as to how, and describing every position with ample detail. Pretty sure you did the second on multiple occasions, but it's very well written.

Hey, Futanari Connoisseur, a legit question here. Is a Trans Woman considered Futanari?
Sex is Male, Female, or Intersex(Having too many or too few sexual organs, usually 'corrected' at birth) It's that whole assigned at birth thing.
Futanari is the Japanese term for an Intersex person who has both Male and Female organs. Thus, futanari is completely unrelated to transpeople or Gender. With one exception.

Gender is Masculine, Feminine, Non-binary(Neutral or Androgynous). It's unrelated to sex, but friction can occur, which is where dysmorphia and dysphoria can come from.

Now, for that exception. If a Male or Female was transgender, and the gender they identified as was Non-Binary. If they acquired/desired both organs, they could be futanari.

Otherwise, no. A transwoman is a woman. That's where the name comes from.

To the original post... Your smut stories may be too much. If people really don't want their names associated with it, they might read it without logging in, thus no readers, comments, or ratings.

Romance is safer... Usually.

There's also the small matter of people getting horny, then... suddenly not being horny anymore. Close the window, pretend you saw nothing. Come back later. More views, less engagement is the natural result.
