Or extra content after the chapter that you could not add to the chapter because it could ruin the flow of the story

Definitely. A lot of people like to read an author's thoughts or any helpful info that makes the characters seem more rounded. I've stuck everything from world lore to translations to random stuff.

Just don't feel you have to every time, or it'll get to be a pain in the tush, especially if you aim for humor.

It would depend on how long your chapters are and how long the omakes are.

Also depends on what kind of story it is. Generally the more light hearted the story is the less likely it's going to harm the story. If your characters are in the midst despair cutting away from that for something more light hearted it might ruin the feeling it's going for.
