Um... I don't think people who write or enjoy reading about peepees and boobas are in the same category as radical extremists. :blob_blank: We don't need to act against them or anything... especially when we have a content filter at our disposal.

I just want to see if the complaint that every story is about harem or about fucking everybody is true or not.

The average user comes online, checks the front page, and goes on his/her merry way. Most may not even have an account registered. Doing it like this represents their experience the most.
Sorry, that was a bit too high on the sarcasm scale, even for me.

But around a third being either/or is pretty much enough for most people to think every story is.

look just saying, but maybe just maybe... the ones that are complaining are the ones looking for it? ex i like young master get better, but i dislike yaoi. so everytime i get clickbaited in one of them and is a yaoi i got mad, since its so emotional scarring i will remenber all the yaio click baits but forget the other normal novels... making a illusion that novel update has only yaoi. So i can conclude that all those people that are mad at harem tag want a wish fufillment, serf insert garbage novel, but most wish fufillment self insert garbage novels are harem or smut

I think you should've checked for sex content warning instead
2much work. I am not that curious. Plus, as I mentioned in one of my previous comments, it's not the same as having a smut novel. I will bring up the same example:

Mass Effect has sex scenes. Yet it isn't a porn game.

Hmm...

If only one out of three chapters in my novel includes sex... is it really smut?

Consistently? Then I would say yes. Because the 2 chapters that have no smut but lead up to the next smut scene, its... well, it's a smut novel. :blob_hmm:

"I'm just saying... I don't like you, and that's it!" They said while avoiding eye contact. If they kept looking at Smut, they knew they wouldn't be able to keep themselves from kissing them.

"They're so..." The reader was thinking but couldn't finish the phrase inside their head. No, they didn't want to. They didn't want to admit that they liked Smut.

"What would my family think..." They said. Smut replied, in a sultry voice. "You don't need to tell them about us." Smut touched their lips. "It could be our little secret, Reader."

Nah, it's all over the place, and those are only ones that include sex at all, even just a bit of it when it isn't the main focus of the chapter.

But then, there's usually suggestive bits in other chapters, but they're more focused on emotions and personalities and relationships and morality and politics, which most of the sex-including chapters are also focused on... but it's also relationship setups which are inherently kinda kinky.

IDK. Mostly, I call it smut because I think people who are not looking for sex will be more disappointed by it's frequency than people looking for sex will be by it's frequency.

"Smut, stop..." They said, pushing Smut away from their forbidden kiss. "Why, Reader? Why don't you just admit that you love me?"

"It's wrong ok! We don't match... I have different needs..." Reader said, lying to themselves. "How do you know that we don't match," They said, lifting Reader's chin, "If you never tried?"

Saying 20% of novels are smut doesn't meen it feels like that's the case.
At that percentage and 20 novels on an unfiltered front page basically guarantees that at least one of them will be smut.
This makes it feel like it's much more common than it actually is.
[insert more smart explanations here]

@Kamba That percentage seems wrong

- You can, at one time, without clicking anything, see 41 novels on the front page, including the latest and trending. (on pc)
- 6 harem and 5 smut novels were up at the point I am writing this reply. (trending+newest+last updated)

That is a 14.63% chance of clicking a harem story.
And a 12.19% chance of clicking a smut story.

The exact values isn't that important to illustrate the point I tried to make, which is that even at a low percent you're still basically guaranteed to see it.
( also I just realized A5 should be marked as "chance of seeing at least one smut novel")
