Well, am I correct in my assumption that English is your second language? If so, you're not doing badly.

I was bought up bilingual, so english is actually my third. But given that I can’t write my mother’s language, English is indeed my second.

Missing idioms in your second language is not a major issue. I can barely hold a conversation in my second language.

But I like idioms. I’m just bad with them.

Idioms are common in the english language. I can't speak for other languages though.

I think that's normal in any language. So much that I sometimes want use an idiom of another language. Which doesn’t quite work out since the other person doesn’t get it.
